Did Stitch's face get an update?

Actually, some of those were identical to early Disneyland costumes! But why is Practical Pig in a diaper?

Almost every character is being reviewed for costume enhancements right now. Stitch was one of several changes.
So my question is...with all the cuts in entertainment - why now?

or is this a global initiative and everyone needs to suck it up? Still trying to figure out why they are doing staggered rollouts on the other recent changes on Timon and Marie. Thanks

Actually they were the early Disneyland costumes. When Disneyland opened, characters weren't an actual fixture. For the summer months, they'd borrow the Ice Capades costumes but by the 1960s, they started producing costumes just for the parks.

I'm not to thrilled with this being on the high priority list but at least the character got a nice upgrade... I can't wait to see what other enhancements the rest of the characters receive.

That just looks like a terribly rendered CG balloon thing.

Remember when terrible Ice Show character costumes looked like they were going to eat your skin while you sleep?

And who is the third chipmunk wearing an apron, did Chip and Dale have a sister that they abandoned in the forest?

Good question. Isn't it always interesting how Parks and Resorts spends it money?

Despite all the cutbacks in entertainment across property, the tired old parades (and eliminated parades) and fireworks, they have money to spend on changing the design of costumes? Is that really a priority right now?

Didn't they just announce a brand new parade and brand new fireworks show to start in 2014 (or maybe it was even sooner)? Seems to me like there aren't cuts in entertainment but rather a boost in that side of the budget.

Given the character's frequent use on the Tomorrowland stage, maybe it's in preparation for an articulated Stitch? Though, obviously, it could simply be to make him look friendlier (and to help his friends with visibility).

Overall, a good move. Not the highest priority, but a good change.

Agree... and not only does this make Stitch look happier, but i am sure the recent redesign is making those of us who are *friendly* with Stitch a lot happier too.

Yes indeed...likely because Walt borrowed these very ice show costumes for DLs opening day. They were used for several years afterwards until WD Productions decided to start making their own and improve the look.
There is a great article about this in John Hench*s book * Designing Disney* where he talks about that saga, with some awesome photos.

Nice to hear that our furry friends are being reviewed. I find that to be good news.
There are several updates needed, off the top of my head is Brer Rabbit and Beast.
