Diagon full opening day

7DMT is an outdoor coaster that has to brave the elements of a summer in Orlando. It is expected to be done from time to time. When it runs(which is the majority of the time), it runs at full capacity.

Universal knew Gringotts wasn't ready for July 8, but they decided to open anyway. They didn't want to lose out on the huge summer dollars by keeping Diagon Alley closed. Who cares if people have to wait 6 hours to experience a malfunctioning under half capacity attraction? Certainly not Universal.

Overcrowded land, with overcrowding walkways and cramped stores and a low capacity headliner. Summer at Universal sounds like fun.

So you are finally admitting Uni has a major hit on their hands. If this wasn't a hit why would it so crowded?

So we entered the line to get in to DA at 8:47am. They are saying 3-5 hours to get in the land. 4 hours for Gringott's.

I will update as I progress through the lines.

Edit: 9:10am: They started issuing return time tickets for 10:30. So we got one and are getting on the HE now.

Edit: 9:50am:just single ridered FJ. Getting a Hog's Head Brew for the train ride back to DA.

Edit: 10:30am: going in.

Edit: 11:00am in line for Gringott's. Posted 270 min. Stand-by.
Sooooo guessing you're still in line?

They're all being paid by Universal's social media department to take up space and lie.
This is why I love reading these threads!

Well, one thing is evident. The Potter franchise dead, and Universal were idiots to tie themselves to this boat anchor.
I've never been happier to be proven wrong, as Universal really hit Hogsmeade out of the park and has outdone themselves with DA, but let's not pretend that back in 2007 the project wasn't a pretty substantial risk for them. If I recall they had to refinance a significant amount of debt during the credit crunch in order to free up the funds to build WWoHP, all at a time when attendance was down substantially from the recession. I'm sure they didn't get the best of terms from the bond underwriters at the time, and I imagine the construction costs coupled with what's probably a fairly expensive licensing agreement had the Executives a little uneasy in their swivel chairs. Honestly, as a long-time UO TM, I also didn't think UO had the track record to pull off the level of detail and immersion JKR was almost certain to require.

7DMT is not really all that cutting edge. The cars barely swing. And braving the elements??? ALL outdoor coasters do that. While the animatronics are good and the ride is nice, it's definitely a D-ticket...and nowhere near as phenomenal as Gringotts.

Diagon is also NOT overcrowded. It is far more spacious than Hogsmeade, with more to see and the most realistic engulfing theming I've ever seen. Inside that land you can't see ANY of the outside world...unless you're in the Gringotts overflow queue.

You're obviously a Disney apologist through and through and no matter what any other park does, it'll never be as good or better than Disney to you.

Oh, and Gringotts>Indy>Spider-Man>Forbidden Journey>Radiator Springs Racers>Transformers.

It's that good.

Here at 6:45 A.M. and early entry for resort guests. Gringotts is down, they are telling everyone that as you walk in and they have no idea when it will be up after working on it all night. The park doesnt open until 8:00 for all guests and people getting out of line are saying the wait time to get into Diagon Alley is at 4 hours about an hour before the parks actually opens.

As someone staying on site next weekend, these are the stories that scare me. People arriving before early admission begins and still having a 4+ hour wait. :arghh:

Please tell me this isn't outside the park itself? Maybe outside park property altogether?

Really? If Early Entry is an hour before park open, only on-site resort hotel guests get early entry, and you were there when they opened the gates, how could there already be a 4 hour wait just to enter Diagon Alley?

Wow that is dedication. I am not sure they could build a ride anywhere that would make me want to camp out like that to ride it.

Unless I get to ride it in the buff that is, I would camp out for a naked ride on a great coaster :)

This morning the line for earlier entry stretched passed MIB by 7:20.
The ride wasn't running until 11 so people who arrived at 7, still had to wait in line for 4 hours til the ride was running.
