Diagon Alley details revealed - spoiler alert

I think the trio are trying to put Potter behind them so they are not type cast, Dan has definitely said something to this effect. Helena had a well established career before HP so it isn't an issue for her.

Dan and Emma have done many different things since Harry ended I don't think either of them have to worry about being type cast but that's just my personal. I'm sure they feel differently especially about something that took up almost all their childhoods' to make.

Whilst we wait for the links that have been asked for to all those negative reviews, here is the respected Screamscapes summing up of Gringotts:

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is yet another game changing attraction from Universal Orlando. Universal Creative has truly managed to create an entirely new attraction style in the process that, once again, is like nothing you have ridden before. In fact you could say that they have “set the bar even higher”, but in this case, they have taken a chainsaw to the bar, set it on fire, scattered the ashes and reset their sites on the stars above.

The ride is called Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. Harry was the star of all 7 books(actually he was on every page of the first 6 books), all 8 movies, and Forbidden Journey. Many people will expect him to be the star of the new attraction(especially since he's in the title).

One of the most appealing things about the Harry Potter series (especially pertaining to the books), is that J.K Rowling created such a richly-detailed, incredibly convincing world. Part of this richness comes from the almost Dickensian amount of interesting characters she populates this world with, characters that are only tertiary to the plot. Students, shop-owners, professors, wandmakers, relatives, etc. The wizarding world within the books and movies is so fully realized that we, as readers/viewers, fully believe that interesting stories and events are continually happening beyond the narrowly-defined narrative that Harry, Hermione, and Ron are a part of.

So, for me anyways, it feels much more authentic to have a ride that does not center on the trio. I mean, just look at how thrilled people are just to visit shops that are featured in the books and movies. No recognizable characters feature in Madam Malkin's or Florean Fortescue's or Borgin and Borkes. What people want is to 'enter' the world of Harry Potter.

And I agree with you that, considering the name of the ride, a lot of people will expect Harry Potter to appear in the ride. Well, that is not a problem. He and his friends do appear, and from the ride reviews, they play a pivotal role in the climactic sequence. So what is the problem again?

See, that's one of the things I liked about the original version of Star Tours.
It made the galaxy seem so big that you went on this big adventure without ever running into any of the characters from the movie (the queue excepted).
Now it's a small world.

Yeah, but you still visited and blew up the famous Death Star and merged with a rebel fleet. So you didn't run into a famous character, but you still did the most significant thing in the galaxy.

So I've now experienced everything at DA and I really don't even know how to say this, but I guess simply put this is the most amazing experiences I've ever had at any place of entertainment. The level of detail blows anything WDW has ever done out of the stratosphere. It makes ToT look like a six flags ride and I'm really not even exaggerating. My expectations were high, but I was still floored.

Note to Disney... You cannot slash the budget for Avatar land because this has to be your answer to this and you've got quite the uphill battle.

Just a couple pics from today

It appears Diagon Alley is one of the places where it's acceptable to hold your cell phone vertically.

Something I'm confused about and haven't seen it explained on the blogs is Knockturn alley. I know it's perpetually night there, so what is the entrance to that area like? Do yo go through a door or an archway but then into some kind of covered area? There really haven't been pics of the sky or ceiling in that area.

I'm pretty sure you enter under a little arch looking thing, but I'm not positive.
