DHS Soundstage 1 Renovation - Toy Storia Mania expansion

Maybe the age range thing is wrong, but I hate those parents who hate learning on holiday, I hate parents who put there kids in the strollers when they are past the age of 5. Plus by appealing to the toddler brigade it ends up dumbing down everyone's experience. I.e. Removal of Alien Encounter.

N.B. Pleasure Island was perfect when gated it was when they removed the gates the problem started.
I agree with you that they shouldn't aim at a specific demographic. But I think we should wait and see what's to come out of this expansion. I have hope for Avatar at DAK as that definitely isn't aimed at the "toddler brigade" and who knows what we'll get out of this in the end. Maybe we'll get a cool ride or two and maybe some things like the Red Care Trolley at DCA. If so, the upcoming years of additions are looking pretty good for WDW, no?

Turning WDW into Las Vegas is nonsense, but Vegas is pretty much exclusively adult. I've been there many times and I've never seen a stroller. The hotels and entertainment are geared entirely towards adults. It's a fantastic place. I've heard it referred to as Disney World for adults.

That Vegas is only for adults, I've been I have seen strollers and I have seen children. To claim Vegas is only for adults is not correct.

Agree. They tried to make it more family-friendly and failed. They gave up and started the 'What stays in Vegas" campaign.

Remember the good old days of a Disney Store in Caesars Palace?

@flyerjab

I haven't even been here for as long as some others on this forum, but Jim Hill is rather notorious for throwing out either outright incorrect info or repeating existing info as if he's the one who broke the news. I can see why people are wary of his info.

And a couple of years ago he made a long article (basically just an angry rant in disguise) attacking people who were critical of Disney World. To many respectable members here it came across as little more than a sneaky attempt to spit on many on this site in unison without naming specific names or actually facing people he was complaining about. There was a topic about it, as you can guess a lot of people weren't thrilled with the way he belittled and subtly insulted people who aren't blind loyalists to Disney. It was locked, but it's still viewable.

Thanks for the background info @MerlinTheGoat. Can understand how that would ruffle some feathers here.

I've always been intrigued by his podcasts for some reason. Sometimes it's like sifting through flour to find sugar.

Like I said earlier, I listen to various rumor sites because I enjoy it. It is funny how people like ourselves can become so interested in theme parks.
Everyone has something they're really interested in that other people would probably think is a little funny. For us it's theme parks.

I grew up with the WDW parks during the early 90's (thankfully got there right at the edge right before they started declining in quality). EPCOT in particular inspired me as a child and i'd say was a primary force that shaped me into the person I am today. It sparked my interest in technology as well as international travel at a young age. WDW as a whole was a huge part of my life back then. I still want it to be, despite the horrible mess they've transformed it into during the past 20 years. But I guess my inner child still holds out some hope for better days in the future (regardless of how irrational that hope may be given Rasulo's chance of becoming the new CEO soon).

I've been to Vegas at least 20 times in my life and I have never seen a stroller. You can't even enter the casino floor unless you are 21. Same with nightclubs. There was a push to add amusement attractions in the 90s to attract families, but that failed experiment is long gone. There are no rules that say you can't bring children with you to Vegas, but the entertainment offerings are geared almost entirely towards adults. So yes, I stand by my statement that Vegas is for adults.

I respect Len for his work & data analysis, but I still hold how he fired my friend against him.

He's the only one who has crunched all the numbers and really researched the crowd dynamics of WDW and then to try and clash that with how he treated my friend. Hard to reconcile that.
What he did to his friend has nothing to do with whether or not he broke a story. Walter Cronkite covered the moon landing, but say he screwed someone on a tip, does that person no longer believe he covered the moon landing?

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not.
It is not, i'm serious. I remember WDW1974 confirming Frozen was taking over Maelstrom back in May. And I also remember Lee discussing the Mine Train well before it was announced. I don't know if they were the first to break the news, but I doubt it was Jim Hill.

My hope: use the space for Monster's Inc Door Coaster. Bring Bug's life playland from California for the kiddies and incorporate the HISTK playset. Then we'd have Toy Story, Monster's Inc, and Bug's Life represented in Pixar Place. We'd be all set for phase II: Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, Cozy Cone Snacks, Flo's Diner, and an original Cars dark ride that borrows from Cali but still unique to this coast. Then you have a well-rounded Pixar place and can add Star Wars. Imagine the merchandise they could sell. Gives a new meaning to Stars and Cars parade now!!!!!!!!
It sounds like Disney's plans are more ambitious.

No I haven't gone with a child because for one I'm not a parent. Apart from RNRC, ToT and Star Wars ... they have an abundance of things to do.

Well Jim Hill says it is all Bs and Cs coming to the park. Now I'm not one to believe Jim Hill per se, but it sounds delightfully cheap for TWDC. And also inline with the race down to appeal to the Honey Boo Boo Brigade.
No, Jim said that they'd be looking at something like Toy Story Playland (B's), Cars Land Lite (presumably a D-ticket version of RSR), possibly the Monster's Inc Door Coaster (probably a D), and Star Wars Land (I've heard anything from a B and an E to a D and an E).

Couldn't agree more. These forums have taken the place of FaceBook for me. What I found, not surprisingly, is that none of my friends ever want to talk about Disney. Pffff! Losers!!

I am actually considering deleting my FaceBook Page as I never use it. The mundane banality that is my news thread amazes me sometimes.

You always say that the insiders are spreading dis-information, so we have to conclude that since the insiders are saying Disney is going to start spending money, and DHS is going to be getting some new attractions that none of this is actually true.

I just listen to Steve and Martin and not those who say "nothing new is on the way" and Uni now rules the Universe.

Obviously that was never the case. Think of the business cycle as a pendulum.

I'm talking about Len not Jim.

And a better analogy would be when Dan Rather was the first report officially that Pres. Kennedy had died. Much better analogy.

Jim is a good historian and he has good sources for Disneyland. The world? Not in the past 10 years that I've been around this park.
