DHS ReDo (August 2014)

I'm against any more spinners!

Except the X-Wing Fighter spinner, I'd love that. A TIE Fighter spinner right next to it would be cool as well, especially if they made it so that you could shoot at the people on the opposite spinner. Also put them in the dark, with a star field. Two separate entrances...one an Imperial Recruitment center and one for the Rebellion.

I tried to listen to his blathering ejectamenta, however he just comes off as so full of himself, that I couldn't put up with it much. It did make me wonder if anyone on this forum has eaten a catered dinner within the Great Movie Ride though, that sounds like an interesting event.
It is pretty much like every other after hours catered events at the parks. They set up tables along the ride vehicles path, serve dinner and there is typically some form of entertainment. They are nice to do if you have the opportunity, but they are not exactly "bucket list" material.

Here is a link to a blog post on one such event.

Would anyone mind sharing if this Jim Hill is any sort of credible? Has he ever broke a rumor(s) which came to life?

This would be nice for the unaware, like myself.

He is INCREDIBLY full of himself. The only thing worse than listening to him is reading his idea of folksy writing. Gah. And NO WAY the Great Movie Ride is getting replaced. The Chinese Theater is an icon in DHS. That claim alone proves he's bogus. As I'm sure the REAL insiders here like Lee and Whylightbulb can and perhaps will confirm.

Do you really believe that the movie ride is off-limits? The Chinese Theater SHOULD be the icon for the park, but it isn't, the HAT is. The hat is used on all the merchandise and branding and maps and everything. Surely, that wouldn't make something protected from any future change. Also, the GMR NEEDS something to happen, whether it is an update or a redo or what, it just needs something. Hell, I'd settle for them just taking out the lame gangster take-over storyline.

Jim Hill has been compared to a stopped clock. Both are right twice a day.

I think at one time, many years ago, Jim Hill may well have had sources for legitimate rumors. But all of this reads like a collection of rumors from this very discussion board, with one or two made-up details (the Great Movie Ride) added to make it sound good.

It's Jim Hill so please, take anything he says with a grain of salt.
I have come up with ideas that have in some form happened in the last 20 years and I am no insider. Anyone can do it.
As with myself and Mr.Hill, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. :)

I did it two years ago, last time Tables in Wonderland offered it. It was expensive but so much fun. We we're met outside by one of the Citizens of Hollywood film directors and escorted in. We walked onto the track under the big marquee inside up to the Underworld set where a table with place cards were set with the names of our tables. All tables were named after Western stars, Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp, etc...there was a small bar with signature drinks, wine, and beer and hors d'ourves served from waiters. There was a piano in the tunnel across from where the car comes out and a gangster character with his girlfriend entertained. The doors opened and we were led into the western scene where tables were set up for our plated dinner. A streetmosphere "maw" type character walked around while the brass quartet from frontier land played in front of the bank that blows up in the ride. After dinner we walked the rest of the track and now the animatronics and sound was turned on, with the exception of the fire from Indiana Jones. We walked up to Oz for our desserts with a Glinda character greeting guests. I can not recommend this event enough if it ever comes back! I heard they do a similar event at Universe of Energy and I asked the Tables staff if they'll do that one and they said they were afraid no one would book it if they did. I definitely would!!

The Chinese Theater is an icon for the real Hoolywood and is still in use today. Just as one day Universal may not want to promote Marvel in their parks anymore, Disney could decide to get rid of the Chinese Theater. Perhaps use the El Capitan or other Disney property instead.
