DHS Parking lot remodel and expansion

the ladder is only for vertical construction, not site prep. You don't need a ladder to pave a flat parking lot.

My sources tell me the ladder is over at SWL today.
Indeed. I realize one would climb up a ladder, therefore it's best for vertical purposes. I just made poor use of a running wdwmagic joke.

Because surface parking is significantly cheaper. You don't resort to garages until you have no other choice.
I hate to throw a wild idea with no evidence to back it up but couldn't the Star wars resort be built under the parking lot since there's no windows anyway? It would be a little complicated engineering wise but it would make efficient use of the space.

It may not require widows, but, it would require some heavy duty SCUBA equipment. Swamps tend to be damp. The plus side would be that there would be seafood on the menu all the time.

This implies that I'm ignorant enough to think things can be built below ground affordably in florida, which I'm not. The project would be built on the surface and buried, no different than MK's utilidors. And considering the amount of grade rasing they are doing for that side of the property it's not beyond possibility. Some of the new parking area is a full 10-12ft higher than the existing parking lot.

I wasn't implying anything, I was stating it. Now you think that a 12 foot high hotel would work. Question, if your question was building it above ground, well, that is what will be happening. Why bury it? What would be the purpose?

I highly doubt it since there is no good reason to. As I showed before there are is plenty of available land around the park.

Random question but are they still brainstorming on a third land for DHS or has that been put on the back burner?
Seems likely but years down the road. Still plenty of available room west of Sunset. Animation courtyard & buildings take up a good footprint that could eventually be a small land. Additionally there is the whole south east corner of park where Indy/Backlot Express/Star Tours sit, that eventually could be its own "land".

I could be wrong but I thought @marni1971 stated the phase 3 was dumped and it will instead be an additional ride(not sure if it was Mickey or not) and some plussing in other areas?

the Mickey ride is the latest and last so far.

Shame. I thought they understood DHS needs a heck of a lot more? They probably think all of what they're doing is enough. I know it's a lot to them but when they stagnate this park for 20 years .... they have to spend the money to play catch up.
