DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

Gringotts is a far from an off the shelf coaster and is much more sophisticated the Mummy. Gringotts is a motion base vehicle sort of like Spiderman, attached to a roller coaster track with tilting track sections. I also think you sell short the complexity of the building facades. Not only are they highly detailed, they are hardly any straight lines in them making them much more complex then normal buildings. And let's not forget the full sized firebreathing dragon. I do think there will be more to Avatarland then Diagon, but I think you are selling the complexity of Diagon short.

screenz screenz and more screenz. these are all the same rides with new locations. you know whats impressive? a $100 million mountain with a rollercoaster inside it... (Everest)

Your point? The main ride in Avatarland is also going to be a screenz based ride.

I never said avatar was anything better in that respect. Im trying to say Harry potter land isnt impressive. copying locations from the movie didnt take as much artistic talent as sculpting a 150-ft tall tree...

So I guess you are going to be disappointed with Avatar land since it's main ride is also screen based.

not at all. The land itself will be breath taking not only in scale but in design. the Navi boat ride will feature some amazing Animatronics (something you dont see much of in universal nowadays) and a host of bioluminesent effects.

You obviously haven't been in the Gringotts queue, and all indications are that Kong will have at least one amazing animatronic.

I am sure Avatar will be breathtaking, and I am looking forward to it, but I also find Diagon alley to be breathtaking in it's own way. I am also a big fan of Carsland which is even more a copy of a movie the Diagon Alley is or Avatar will be.,

P.S. Yes, I know people are getting annoyed that this is turning into another Uni vs Disney debate, sorry buy sometimes I just can't resist. Mod's can delete if they feel they need to.

So how do you feel about Avatar copying things seen in the movie?

I have. but my point is, they dont make an animatronic that is TRULY breathtaking like say the dinos in dinosaur or the new auctioneer AA. I find myself "taken out" of a world when im placed in front of a monitor. which is why harry potter is no more than a glorified movie theater to me. and as far as kong goes... ive heard otherwise... At least carsland had a huge backdrop to engross you in the story, rather than a mockup castle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As far as that goes, Pandora is more of a concept. they arent copying all of the shops and places straight from the movie like diagon. theyre taking the design and look and turning it into a theme park experience.

Diagon Alley and even Hogsmeade aren't copied exact. Pay attention to the movies and you'll notice the many differences. If anything is copied anything close to exact it's Cars Land.

I am sorry if this ruins the magic for you, but the mountains in Carsland aren't real either. ;)

yet i believed they were... thats the difference between carsland and diagon alley.

I am starting to think you are trolling. I can't see how anyone can go into Diagon alley and not feel like you have actually stepped into the world of Harry Potter. You might not like the rides, or be interested in Harry Potter, but it's hard to make an argument that the environment doesn't feel totally real and immersive.

Im not trolling.. i simply didnt feel anything when i walked into that land. it was small, contained, cramped and it felt synthetic. like it was all a facade, and not a real thing.

What's your take on where SWL will finally be located? I have a feeling it might be back toward where LMA is since it would costs a lot to expand the park out into the parking lot? Not trolling :) Star Wars is my favorite movie franchise and have always dreamed of walking into the SW universe.
