According to the Disney Audition site, there are auditions October 6th for Ariel in Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

I'm glad you enjoy it @Goofyernmost - I wish I did as much as you. I like Soarin, I like test track- but what I mean by a disaster is that future world has no identity anymore. It used to have a distinct identity- and an incredible one at that- but it has simply lost its identity and is just a mish-mash of "stuff".

I'm sure when you went when it was 3 months it was jaw dropping and had continuity. But I'm sorry- the seas pavilion offers zero educational value when it used to. As does the horizon/space pavilion. As does the energy pavilion. You already mentioned the wonders of life pavilion being closed. I believe the biggest travesty is the two innoventions pavilions in the middle of the park (what's left of them).
So you're literally left with motion and the land and a memory of what imagination used to be- as you mentioned. That's 2.5 out of 9 that do what they were intended to do.

So while I do enjoy aspects of Future World- just as I enjoy aspects of Hollywood studios- they are both in desperate need of continuity and a theme- which is what two of the most visited theme parks should have. Just one mans opinion :)
OK, I can see what you are saying, however, I still have to disagree with it based on what was there and what is there now. Future World, in my opinion, never really had an identity to match the name other then in a few exihibits in Innoventions and Horizons, alone with a small part of WoL. I'll include a few here that weren't there at the opening. Starting from the center and working clockwise. SSE: Almost 100% history of communications with a hint of things to come. = Edutainment primarily with some future. UoE: One of the most tediously boring Edutainment attempts ever made. = What might have been Edutainment like the Ellen version, but, instead was a 45 minute advertisement for Exxon. WoL: With the exception of Body Wars which was slanted toward the future all Edutainment. Horizons: Was about the future and the possibilities that could lay ahead. Innovations: East and West again contained technology that currently existed. Here and now... not future. = Edutainment. Imagination: That one was tricky. JII was about the imagination that has existed sense mankind first appeared on the planet. EO, was and still is Sci Fi. and the interactive areas would have to be listed as Educational. HISTA was also a Sci Fi presentation with not knowledge to actually be gained, just entertainment. = Not sure what to label it. Living With The Land: Completely Edutainment. As was Living Seas.

So if we are talking about identity, that was always lacking in Future World. Now the only thing that remains even closely related to the Future is Mission: Space, since I don't know of any current shuttles to Mars. Test Track with it's design cars of the future aspect. = Very gray area on that one. The rest are about the same.

It's my belief that once the name changed from EPCOT Ctr. to Epcot. the identity remained just as close as it was before but allowed for more entertainment and less education. However, it is still there. Future World never did show us much of the future.

Thanks for the blast from the past- forgot about a couple of those things :D

I agree about "future world" not being about the future. But at least they used to all be "edutainment" as you called it. We don't have any of that anymore except for 2.5 of 9 potential pavilions (2 of which are shuttered). Epcot should move back towards education and entertainment. That would be a theme and cohesive- like it used to be. What is nemo? What is michael jackson? What is mission:space, even? What is the theme now? It has lost its way...
Mission: Space is at least an entertainment project with the thought of how public space travel may well be possible in the future. Nemo did, however, fit in with the sea concept and provided something fun for kids other than watching fish swim. The pavilion is still basically educational as is Land, Energy and SSE. JIYI, is to a small degree educational, but a very small degree and has so very little to do with Imagination. EO? Well, there is absolutely no justification for that, not when it was first there and especially not now.

Entertainment is good and something I certainly wouldn't complain about, but, as I said, I still enjoy everything there, even imagination just not as much as I used too. Still something I do every trip.

Mission Space is a killer ride.

So once the new fiscal year begins, September 28, things are gonna get rollin', right?

I don't think we'll see much in October -- it's likely the big work at that time will be backstage where TSL is going to be and maybe even tearing down other parts of the old Backlot Tour (e.g. Catastrophe Canyon) in preparation for other builds. The recent vibe I've gotten on here is that the other currently "on stage" stuff like OMD and VOTLM will stick around until at least the holidays to maintain capacity and then will be shut down.

I'm curious as to what the rumored accelerated timeframe means for the future of Indy, LMA and SoA/Muppets -- are these going to go away sooner (2016) rather than later (waiting until TSL is open)? If they close soon in preparation for a big, quicker build out, that bodes well for 2019/20 DHS but really hurts the park in 2016-17 (until at least TSL opens).

So, a certain other website is claiming that Star Wars Weekends have seen their final appearance, and Disney characters will no longer appear dressed in Star Wars costumes. Can anyone verify these claims? Thanks!
If so, it's another step in the direction of Disney putting more faith in the IP than Lucas did. They did this by eliminating Hyperspace Hoopla a few years ago. They'll never admit it, but I'm sure the success of Harry Potter's cohesiveness has affected many decisions.

Same here. Monstropolis would be amazing. Let California have Carsland.
Agreed... a Cars Land without the rockwork seems silly. Go all out with Monstropolis (not my favorite IP, but neither is Cars Land) and it could still be awesome. It probably wouldn't be that difficult to blend some themes of Monstropolis and Incredibles as well.

I was under the impression that the the rock work just wouldn't be as grand. Flo's V8, smaller, maybe trackless radiator springs racers and c ticket.
