DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

I believe there is more that is coming, but which is either being held back because it isn't "ready" or because they are wanting to just save a few announcements for later.

The budget is legit.

D23 was throwing the fans a bone.

Do you have any indication on time tables? Schedules? When we might hear official announcements or actually see construction?

What are they waiting for??

so what's the likelihood the earffel tower will be a casualty of this expansion
It sits smack dab in the middle of the Slinky Dog coaster.

The question is will they wait to remove as late in construction as possible for the sake of visitors to DHS before the name change?

I could see a Woodys Roundup show happening in the building to the lower right....there is definitely a store, bathroom and QS in this land...that leaves the fourth building open for something else...

The money approved is spread over five years. That would indicate work continuing into fiscal 2021. So, they are in no real hurry to announce anything. Might wait until the next D23 to drop more info.

Construction/demo will begin this fall. Just don't expect to know what it's all about for a while.

Well at 630, I'm going to start cooking. At 730 I plan on having a margarita.

I'm waiting for a post meal margarita as medicinal as I'm gonna watch baseball. I'm gonna need it.

Or did you mean a different time table.....?

Thank you @Lee for answering and being so available to answer all of our silly questions.

I didnt even mention the Champagne Chicken!

I'd love some minus the chicken.

And replace the champagne with vodka.

I can't hold champagne for some reason ... I get "fun" too quickly with it. Hey come to think of it I could have used some when dissecting these announcements - but we digress ... what about alcohol?

Oh its just cooking-grade champagne. Nothing good. Possibly Mimosa fodder. I cant find any recipes that cook with Vodka. Yet.

I fully expect SWL and their cantina to have a full selection of vastly overpriced specialty beverages, ala "The Force" and "The Dark Side" from SWW past.

This is why I'm just cautiously optimistic about both of the announcements. If the new lands are going in the most heavily rumored spots for each location, I fear that this will leave DHS with the worst attraction count of any Disney theme park. If Star Wars Land is indeed taking over the area directly left of Hollywood Blvd including the Sounds Dangerous and Superstar Theaters and the Indiana Jones Stunt Show area, and if Toy Story Land is going behind Toy Story Mania, I get 15 or 16 attractions remaining in DHS depending on the rumors:
1. Tower of Terror
2. Rock-n-RollerCoaster
3. something @ Beauty & the Beast
4. Great Movie Ride
5. Disney Jr.
6. Something in Animation Academy - Launch Bay
7. Jedi Training
8. Millenium Falcon
9. First Order/Resistance Attraction
10. Star Tours?
11. Muppets?
12. LMA?
13. Slinky Dog
14. Toy Story Mania
15. Little Green Men
16?. something @ Little Mermaid?

To put things in perspective, Disney Studios Paris has 17 attractions. That's terrible, especially for a park with capacity issues already. DHS needs the RC Racer and a revamped Parachute Drop added to Toy Story Play Land and a complete A Bug's Land in addition to whatever will be revamping the LMA/SOA/Muppets area, just to address capacity.

Hopefully any announcements in the future will show that Disney recognizes this need. Otherwise I fear you will see extremely long lines for the few attractions they have and everyone else dumped out to admire lush themed environments.

And as much as people were mentioning that DHS was too "show heavy." When we're done we've got

1. Whatever is where BatB is
2. Disney Jr.
3. Jedi Academy
4. Muppets, if it stays
5. LMA, if it stays

#2 & #3 on that list are for a pretty limited audience, and we don't know the future of #4 (maybe) & #5 (probably dead). Consider, in the Studios heyday how many bodies the Indy theater, Premiere Theater, Mermaid Theater, Sound Show Theater, Superstar Television theater, plus the theaters inside Animation and the Backstage Pass, Backlot Tour areas held.

And then imagine all the bodies Star Wars is going to pull in. With what we know so far, I don't see a balanced park at all. Signature attractions are great, but they never have enough capacity to satisfy the demand (far too many people will want re-rides) so those are always going to have 45-60 min waits, and flat rides or limited appeal attractions aren't going to cut it. We're still basically left with GMR, Star Tours, show where BatB is as the primary "people suckers," ie things you WANT to do, that will have an acceptable wait times once the park reaches peak hours 11-6PMish.

Hey guys long time listener first time caller here. I first want to give a shot out to @PhotoDave219 , his insight on what may happen is really amazing.

So, hear me out.... After reading how they plan to turn Disneyland Space Mountain into Hyperspace Mountain for a limited engagement peaked my interest into how possibly they could turn rock n roller coaster into the same.

You already have the LSM launch which could be themed to jumping into hyperspace. All that would be needed at the launch would be sequential lights flashing somewhat to how the movies portray them.

Next and correct me if I’m wrong but the black light display of California is practically just plywood cutouts painted with a special paint. How hard would that be to be re-themed with some type of star wars theme?

After that the sound track could easily be redone. At the beginning you could hear Han telling Chewy light speed and then the launch goes off. Even a better idea would have the launch not happen the first time and then the sound would play the Millennium Falcon has when the ship fails to operate. You then could just have various types of star wars songs throughout the rest of the ride.

Lastly the Disney and Star Wars nerd in me has always wanted to join a Disney forum and I’m glad I picked this one.

P.S. Hope this was the right forum to post this in....

It will be crushing to see One Man's Dream closed, if nothing replaces it somewhere in the Parks. The man deserves that and so much more. Everyone who visits WDW should have the opportunity to learn and explore how where they are, all got started.

I have to wonder what will happen with Honey I Shrunk the Kids? Since Toy Story Land is basically copying this whole idea, I'd be surprised if this did not go.

And if 50's Prime Time is re-themed, as sad as that would be, they better not even consider touching Sci-Fi. The places is so popular and always booked up, so not a smart decision. Enhance it, sure, but I can't lose my favorite themed restaurant

Nothing against Aerosmith, but Rockin' could use a change. Either a compilation or use a new group. I always assumed this would be something that would change every so many years anyway.
