Universal has the awesome plumber (heh), Disney's situation is that there simply isn't anything in the pipe(line) to leak.

First time or not...these numbers disgust me.
5 rides
7 shows(counting Frozen)
2 walkthroughs
That's the entire park. $100 a day to visit this place? An absolute travesty. There needs to be about 8 more rides and three new shows(close about 4 or 5 of the old ones) to really make this a worthwhile park again.
I can't wait for the day when one of the Universal parks beats this one in attendance. Then maybe Disney will finally get off its butt.
A whole water park, a new hotel, and King Kong, a brand new E Ticket attraction, all on the heels of Diagon Alley (an E and a D), another hotel, everything they've done in CityWalk, and another E Ticket in Transformers. Not to mention the Nintendo announcement which can pretty much be expected to be in Orlando just based on how they've been doing things lately even though there's nothing official on where it's going yet. I'd say the comparison is fair and it is not in Disney's favor. Not even close. I wouldn't say the DHS announcements are "soon to be announced" either, and even if they are, don't expect anything substantial for 5 years at the least. TSPL might open, but really, who can be excited for that knowing what's going on up the road? I know I'm not.If you say Disney Springs, Avatar (project name removed), Fantasy land expansion, Disney's Art of Animation Resort (opened 2012), all of the road construction at Disney, Magic + (magic Bands) the soon to be announced new project at DHS, ect... Seems Disney has been rather busy if you ask me. The difference is Disney is much larger than Universal so when you have the hotel going up at Universal and expansion at the park that is it. Where Disney has so many projects going on at the same time so this is not a money thing.
When you factor in the $2 billion on "infrastructure" that does very little to improve the guest experience, they've absolutely spent more than Universal... Universal is just spending their money more wisely.I still believe the amount of construction at Disney is far more than Universal over the past years to current. The cost as well is more IMHO (I would need to dig up all of the total costs).
Disney Springs parking garages $90 million
Disney Springs $250+ million
Avatar land $500 million
Fantasy land expansion $500 million
Fast Pass+/Magic bands $1 Billion
Soarin Construction
Art of Animation resort (2013)
Ft Wilderness construction (DVC rooms)
Villas at Grand Floridian (2012)
DHS Current Construction (Toy Story Mania expansion, and new construction)
Disney’s purchase of last on the west side of Western Way and the 429
I feel like it's that scene from Saturday the 14th when every channel on TV was showing Twlight Zone. Here we go again....
I am not up to par on what is going on at Universal (we don’t go- We are Local in Orlando) except for the construction work for the new hotel is all that I am aware of (as well as the 4 others planned). While things do not move at the pace we all wish it would I know bids are out for the “un named expansion” over at DHS so if things go as they have at Disney by the end of the year ground should be broken and concrete starting to pour early 2016.
I will admit Disney is lacking one key element for the family’s and that is a park for those looking for thrill rides. IMHO if Disney does do a 5th Park they need to offer a “Disney’s Florida Adventure” 5+ roller coasters, a water ride, cars land, ect…and just stuff tailored to thrill seekers.
This to me is the one key element Disney is missing to keep guests on property all the time and not look at other attractions for thrills.
I am happy to see the upgrades that Disney is currently working on, none of us know what they have in the works that are not yet announced. I am pretty sure Disney is fully aware that they need to continue to upgrade and evolve to maintain the guest experience.
As a APH and DVC member I have seen crowed increase more and more each year Disney must be doing something right to have record crowds and have the resorts full the majority of the time.
Um... this is about a Cars ride, right.....?
This is an old rumor at a point where it looks like Disney was considering bring all, or at least a significant portion of Carsland to DHS. This was before the Lucasfilm acquisition was announced. There are still rumors that some form of Carsland might be coming to DHS, but it doesn't seem likely at this point that it will be an exact copy of the one in DCA.
