DHS Aerial View

Yeah, we still haven't cleared everything we need to at DHS and meanwhile DL has been vertical for what, over a month or two?
Vertical with construction for storage for Fantasmic, the new route of the railroad, new route for River of America. I don't believe they nothing has gone vertical regarding SWL. But they are laying the ground work to start up in the future. It's hard to see exactly what's going on at DHS. There isn't a parking garage across the road to get a Birdseye view. At least we will get to see what's coming to DHS.

There is still demo work to be done for SWL at DHS. Sure it's mostly infrastructure work at DL, but only Toy Story Land has begun infrastructure work here at DHS

I knew there were permits for TSL and SWL. Did not know if anything started besides demo work
Yea they have started subsurface work (footers, electrical and plumbing. Sometime in late October we should start seeing more visible above ground work even if it''s just poured concrete floors for structures. If rumors are true with the Rollercoaster rework the footings for that should start going in in late December otherwise I suspect we will start seeing some of those somewhat soon.

Exactly. Also everyone should keep in mind the DL has to build to a higher standard due to earthquakes. So catching up is possible. Certainly the talk that DHS was falling further behind than 6 months is not accurate. If anything the gap is closing. IMO.

Not quite, especially in Orlando. Both projects seem to be a high priority so it will be fun to watch.
So are you saying Orlando couldn't get a hurricane? I'm fairly certain both are being built to a high standard and both are high priorities.

Well, they have that and that snotty little problem of a water table just a few feet below the ground level. I'd say they are even. Hurricanes are a bit easier to build for then earthquakes because hurricanes are more predictable in how they materialize, but, the water table thing coupled with possible sinkholes does create a pretty heady engineering problem.

Also to take into consideration is that WDW has to follow Reedy Creek building codes which are incredibly strict. There are a lot of differences between earthquakes and hurricanes, however, a Cat 5 hurricane will still do great deals of damage in Orlando.

There us no evidence to indicate that Dhs is catching up. If any thing they are maintaning the gap but I woukd be inclined to say they are falling behind. DL gas started foudation work, Dhs is still doing demo, needs to finish tge constructiin access road, and based on recent aerials hasnt even setup the construction yard on the other side of Osceolla yet.

Agree. Looking at the pictures online it seems that at DL they did all of the demo at roughly the same time to get that blank slate look, while at DHS they've been taking down stuff here and there. Although, since I was at DHS in the first week of August it really has moved along, but you're right; they have significant concrete work already going on at DL, while in DHS demo isn't done yet (heck, half of the stunt show grandstands stood there for a couple of weeks before they finally finished it). Although I will say that at DL they have a different issue, in that they had to close a lot of existing attractions while the construction was going on, most noticeably the DL railroad and the river. If you look at the DL pictures, most of the heavy concrete work is going on along the perimeter bordering the rest of the park, so I'm sure that they're trying to get that done so they can bring the RR and river back online while construction finishes up further in the back.

WDW is working on Avatar, Toy Story, and Star Wars, while DL only has to focus on Star Wars, but with Avatar in 2017, and Toy Story in 2018 so I thought DL's Star Wars-land was to open before WDW's Star Wars ...or is that not the case?

Yes, a few people have said DL will be around 6 months before DHS.

Anyone know why they seem to have kept that courthouse looking building near where LMAs entrance was?

Also my understanding about building codes is that in most cases these days the blueprints and plans are the same for California and Florida. New attractions are built to withstand both hurricanes and earthquakes for the very reason that it makes them easy to clone while adhering to the conditions wherever they are built. That's just what I've heard though...not 100% sure if it's true.

Electrical is still hooked up to it from what we've been able to see from aerials.

For earthquakes you need to have a little flexibility and hurricanes you need rigidity. There is some overlap, but it's two completely separate codes that call for two different things.
