For all those complaining about the price being ridiculous:

Do you also complain about the ridiculous price of the VIP Tours?

Do you also complain about the ridiculous price of the Monorail Resorts?

If you do, you're consistent. If you don't, you're being inconsistent.

I know this DHS SW 'tour' seems empty of value, but, is an extra $400 a night really the value of some nicer theming and avoiding two bus rides a day?
Yes to all of the above

"Strange selfinshness"? I think that's a more accurate description of yourself than it is of me.

I agree with drizgirl, the Disney money grabbing has become extreme. This tour is just another example of this.
As long as the up sells are successful, Disney will not be motivated to invest more capital into attractions. Please, don't bother citing Pandora, ROL, SWL, or TSL since none of these are open to the public.
Why would Disney invest in park improvements, when people like you are willing to gush over a $50 cupcake?
Ok. So all of the construction that I actually did see..it must have all been a figment of my imagination. Nothing being built, just fake cranes for props. Got it.

Yes to the monorail resort price- the only time I plan on spending at the resorts is either to sleep, or maybe eat (if my friends and I choose Saana or Ohana). My group considering staying at the more expensive Pop Century instead of the All Star resorts is actually a slight upcharge for us.

This tour actually needs to go behind the scenes of Star Tours or something to justify the cost. Or, like a user (can't remember who) mentioned, maybe get some special M&Gs. If Darth is meeting people, let them meet Kylo too. Or C3P0. Or Darth Maul.

Ok, and I'm different. In 9 nights we did 4 resort days, 2 of which we did go to MK in the evening. We enjoy doing other activities and spending time at the resort.

You and I are a perfect example- we vacation in very different ways, we both enjoy our vacations very much. Neither one is right or wrong..just tailored to fit our wants.

It's why options are so great to have.

For what's it's worth, I don't think the guaranteed spot in JTA is the main appeal. Every tour group I see for this seems to be mostly adults. I counted for fun today and there seemed to be 3 children (only 2 of which seemed to be JTA age) in a group of 25 people.
Do you know how they're filling all of the time?

Wow, I'm surprised at that. Is 25 the limit on the tour? I can't imagine it would be much larger, especially taking into account the dessert party spots.

"Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.
But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Everybody's got a special kind of story;
Everybody finds a way to shine.
It don't matter that you got not a lot.
So what?
They'll have theirs, you'll have yours, and I'll have mine.
And together we'll be fine!
'Cuz it takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world,
Yes it does.
It takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world."

This was so perfect!

Do I love Star Wars? You bet your sweet patootie I do.
Do I want to take this tour? Not even a little bit.
Does that mean it should go away? Hell, no. I'm dying to do the Wild Africa Trek in AK. If that goes away before I can convince DH it is worth the money, I will be most displeased. My desire to experience it is in no way lessened by someone else's lack of interest.

After reading the blog, I feel sorry for the kids on the tour. Watching other kids going to attractions, while you're standing around on a tour waiting for an attraction/ show doesn't sound very appealing.

Based on this blog, I think the people on the tour know a lot more about Star Wars than the tour guides. I'm wondering if the guides gave more Star Wars information as the tour continued.
Well...

Okay, I appreciate the detailed discussion about THX, Lucasfilm, and Roger Rabbit, but you'd think that this tour would be a great excuse to finally fix Roger's silhouette. :grumpy:

Some of this feels like filler? 2 hours of this tour alone are at the character M&G and the dessert party. It seems like an hour of that could just be spent riding Star Tours a few more times. Again, I've never been at a dessert party (and won't until my friend has her Disney wedding), but it just seems like that is a really, really long time to stand around and wait for fireworks.

I think that' my biggest issue with some of these up charges. If they were good, it wouldn't be an issue. But lately, Disney has cobbled together a bunch of mediocre stuff and tried selling it as an experience. Tiana's Dessert party and this are just 2 examples.

Disney is relying on their history of providing great experiences. And they need to tread lightly. Pretty soon that reputation is going to be something other than that.
