Decency Code?

Is there a decency code at WDW? Since we're getting into the hot/warm months, I figured I'd air out my pet peeve......

My two favorite resorts are WDW and Busch Gardens Williamsburg, which is a roller-coaster heaven if you ever get the chance to go.

Anyhow, when you go into BG, there are signs posted at all entrances warning guests that inappropriate dress (at BG judgement) would not be tolerated. One day, I saw a teen walking around with an overtly homophobic-slanderous tee shirt on. A BG worker goes up to him and tells him that he either can (a) put on a different shirt (b) turn that one inside-out or (c) leave. He chose (b).

Then, later, there's a teenie with big bouncies popping out of her bikini top leaving the water ride. Again, a worker goes up and tells her that it is not appropriate and that she'd have to put on a tee shirt or to leave. She ended up having to buy one b/c the other was wet apparently.

Well, on my last trip in the warm months to WDW, I have to say I wish that the BG policy was in place. Besides all the big bouncies in string tops running around, I had to stand in line with my 8 year old son for 20 mins in Space Mountain next to a girl in a skin-tight shirt that had "Don't You Wish You Were Here?" written over her big bouncies.

I asked a cast member if they could do anything about it (hey, I'm into big bouncies, but I've seen more clothes on at strip joints and I don't need that with my wife - "Don't look at that!!!" and kids around). They told me there was nothing they could do - either because they didn't want to bother, or couldn't. I couldn't tell.

Why does WDW let people walk around like this? Yes, I know it is on MTV and HBO and etc, but the last time I checked big bouncies weren't on the Disney Channel.

Why do they let psuedo-hookers run around the parks? :lookaroun

I do believe Disney stops what they consider indecent clothing... I was there last year and I witness the CMs at the front gate of MK stopping a guest from entering the park while wearing a tee shirt with some slogan on it about slobbering and knobs. (hope that didn't violate any kind of WDWMagic Terms of Serivce policy.. if so, edit at will...) They made him turn the shirt inside out before he entered the park.. I didn't see him again during the day so I don't know if he changed it back around, but they did stop him.. With that being said, I have no problem with chicks in bikini tops and their big bouncies, bouncing around... Makes my trip more woth while LOL... In all seriousness, it is a family park with kids around.. Disney should stop the females from dressing like that... make them put on a tee shirt.. Same with men... They shouldn't be allowed to walk around topless...

That is surprising. Disney tends to have fairly strict policies in place. Unfortunately, the people looking at this are those at the front gate, and what people wear in is often not what they wear around the parks. While any CM is able to talk to a guest about their attire, it can be difficult. I have heard people get down right rude about being able to wear shirts and what not with GRAPHIC statements (the ones even A&F won't sell). This is especially true in a ride queue where changing is not really an option at that point. I do wish that DIsney was more direct about posting their policies or making them at least available. Some fashion can be highly questionable if not definitely inappropriate for young guests, and you are in a place that is designed (more and more it seems) for them alone. I wish society itself would correct the problem, but that is clearly not an option.

Big Bouncies that is too cute. I agree it's a shame the way people dress.
We just got back from Disney and there were girls on the river rapids ride that rode with us that striped to bathing suit tops for the ride then put t-shirts on when it was over . They were more like little bouncies but thats beside the point I know its a water ride but it's not a water park so keep your clothes on . There were a few women I also saw with skirts so short and tight I dont know how they could sit down let alone get on rides in them .I am a woman and I still dont understand it . :dazzle:

Have you seen some of the kids walking around?

I'm sure there is some sort of basic dress code that they can enforce, but after that you are infringing on an individual's rights. As long as everything that needs to be covered is then Disney really can't say much.

*I am not endorsing the semi clad, just giving another opinion...me & mine are always covered :lookaroun *

They don't let men walk around without t-shirts on, I've seen them stop big tour groups and make them put them back on.

Ohh yea.. I have seen kids maybe 10 or younger, wearing clothes some teens may not even wear (then again teens today wear anything).. What about the shorts with the words printed across the hind end? Like that isn't done to gain attention.

Some think they are cute, but they are forbidden for my girls...you are only calling attention to your derriere and inviting any cat calls that come your way. Again, as long as everything is covered and the word is not an expletive what can Disney do?

Wearing something like that is one thing, however I usually get stuck in line next to people who are getting all hot and bothered. That bugs me more than the way people dress. I've had to listen to parents hurriedly distracting their kids from the free show going on right next to them in line, on more than one occasion. :lookaroun

I would think they can do whatever they want is it is not public property. It is private property that the guests have purchased a REVOKABLE license by which to gain entrance. Freedom of expression does not come into play as it is private property and Disney can make whatever policies they see fit as far as dress as long as it is in accordance with the law.

Probably the same reason a number of CMs don't approach smokers who are not in the designated areas - they CMs may feel the resulting abuse is not worth the risk?

You can never make everyone happy, so they figure the best policy is just to intervene when they have to .. it's the "PC" way!

Private property or not, there would still be some room for legal challenges since the parks are part of public domain (or something like that). Basically, there is a room for guests to say they were singled out because of some other factor such as age, skin color, gender, etc... Those things are protected and Disney could get into legal trouble if a jury believed they hasseled a guest to change clothing because of one of those factors.

Personally, I agree with having MUCH stronger dress and conduct codes, but Disney still needs to be careful about how they were enforced.
