Dead Monsters?

I. And as far as WDW1974, I haven't seen him break any news at all. Someone show me a post of his that has news first broken by him and then it was announced by Disney later on and came true. Your not gonna find it. Even this thread he started basically says the Monsters Inc coaster is no more, but then he adds that anything can change. So basically we're back where we started. True insiders don't preface everything with "Well of course this could change" because they want to cover their butts. If someone is a true insider they have faith in their knowledge. The dude who broke the FL plans came in, told us everything, and even offered added proof which he made good on.

Thanks for the shot. I love it when people have nothing better to do, speaks volumes about them.

I'm not going to provide a list of what I've 'broken' online like I'm a reporter or even what passes for an online blogger these days (Hint: it isn't having your picture taken with Tony Baxter or Joe Rohde!)

Hell, I won't even point out that I said a Ratatouille E-Ticket was coming to DSP well over a year ago (not here) while everyone and their fanbois were saying Soarin was coming to the park. It wasn't. And it isn't.

And I am not prefacing anything, just stating the obvious. I hate people who use qualifiers all the time (Honor Hunter springs to mind as someone who uses so many whenver he writes his blogs as to neuter them down to nothingness ... so I try not to use IF ... IF ... IF ...)

I'm saying flat out that the Monsters coaster is dead. And I am standing by that just like when I told you the decision to take down the BAH/pin shack has been made.

I'm not going back on it. But if three years down the line, Disney changes their mind ... well, that happens.

But right now ... at this moment, it is dead and no one is working on it or bringing it back. And no ... no one else has stated it here or anywhere else but this spirit.

Now, go have a magical night!

My apologies '74 I thought "Insider" was the OP. All that followed would not have been typed if I hadn't made that error. And I know Disney wouldn't announce they weren't planning something they never announced to begin with. But they could still be trying to preserve something for D23 since FL was leaked. Myabe? I dunno I'm just trying to remain optimistic. Tired of hearing interesting ideas shelved. Again, my apologies on the "WDW_____” mix up. I'm man enough to admit when I've made an error. Lol

Absolutely no apologies needed.

Thanks, though.

Just wanted to set the record straight since these threads take off in all kinds of weird directions.

Its the fact that stuff is posted deliberately to get a rise out of the boards. How convenient that WDW1974 would come here, post how one of the most popular talked about additions to the theme parks is now DEAD and then be like, "Well I gotta go now and enjoy my day".

The 'stuff' is absolutely posted to get rises and stimulate discussion/debate. Places like this would be dead without real stuff. After awhile all the made up crap gets boring.

I posted the info after I got it.

Sorry that I do have a real life and don't live here like some folks. One thing I don't like about this site is the sheer number of people who do seem to live here, so that it becomes a chore instead of fun to post and talk.

I can catch up on LaughingPlace in 30-45 minutes tops on all forums, but here I could spend hours on just one thread (like this one).

But again, so sorry that I decided to get out and enjoy the afternoon and have dinner with the family before deciding to return here to respond to non-sensical bable from you.

And nice effort to get under my skin, but JT will always be my favorite. You aren't even in his league.

I believe the fish will be joining MK's JC as well as some stuff from HKDL and a few new flourishes. But again, with Disney and budgets you never know.

Space Mountain was supposed to be a whole lot more than new track, gates, a few cheap special effects, asbestos removal and general cleaning. Far, far more.

I've seen them (or heard). All I care to say right now is two are totally ridiculous and not happening anymore than the national healthcare disaster getting fixed tonight. One is seriously being considered.
Thanks for answering my questions. :)

I hope the JC refurb will be well done. Sad about SM :(, but I guess anything would be better then it was. (but worse then what it could've been)

Can you say which one is being highly considered? I'm interested even more-so now.

Which our country takes advantage of because they make our stuuf at cheap prices. Regardless of that China is not the big bad Communist Machine that Russia was.

That's certainly true, but they have plenty of issues especially with freedoms as well as things like pollution and corruption (terrible story in Friday's NY Times about poor college students with great academic records having their 'files' stolen and given/sold to rich underachievers and how it destroys their lives).

But the funny thing is they want to be us ... or what they think we are ... they really do. While GM was/is losing billions here, the biggest sign of prestige over there is a big black American Buick. Seriously. And McDonald's is about to expand from a tiny (relatively speaking) presence over there to huge in the next five years.

People who have never been there won't understand what an amzaing, dynamic land of contrasts China is.

They certainly need reform, but they aren't an evil red dragon either. And their future is totally tied with ours, so we need to work with them and not try and demand they be us. They never will be.

OTOH, in five years they'll equal us in their number of Disney resorts!

At risk of going off topic I would love to see Cinemagique come to DHS. It would be interesting to see the reception of the american audience.

It's a great show, no doubt ... that's what's shocking about DSP. It is the worst Disney park ever created BY FAR yet it has some really terrific attractions.

But American audiences, especially in O-Town, wouldn't go for it. First off, less than 20% of the films are Disney. And many that aren't are far off the 'Disney' radar ... the Exorcist for instance. You think that's gonna go over in conservative Orlando.

Looking forward to seeing it again soon, though!

I have faith in certain areas of Imagineering namely the ones in charge of Disneyland Resort.

I have faith in them personally but ... well, I don't quite know how to 'splain it.

Tony Baxter is largely being given small projects (like the castle walk thru and now the new Disney Gallery on Main Street) until they push him into retirement in a few years. There's a lot he'd like to get off the drawing board, but most of it seems very unlikely at present.

And, from what I've been told, at this point Bob Weis' top priorty is Shanghai and DCA is kinda going along under the plans that have been made with very little input by him at this point (was told his press appearance at the WoC press conference was one of his first days down there in a while). My guess is that if Phase I is as succesful as Disney hopes, someone else will take over the park for Phase 2 while he toils in China.

So, on paper the Anaheim parks have great guys controlling them on the creative end, but at the same time they aren't doing much.

Make sense?

The Great Movie Ride seems to still be doing fairly well after all this time

This is what he says in regards to the wand removal:

I've also heard from some very kind Spirits deep inside the scary corridors and cubicles where decisions are talked about in hushed tones that the wand removal and upcoming changes to the cemetary out front and the removal of the remaining Millennium chintz from Innoventions Plaza are just the start.

He's not breaking news about the wand removal with that statement. I think you need glasses or need to learn how to read. Why are you so willing to accept the fact that yes he guessed correctly about the wand coming down, but was wrong about changes to the cemetary? Anyone can say "I've heard this or that" and then proceed to make guesses and eventually you'll get lucky and hit on something that happens.

Glad you have my posts catalogued. Considering I don't, I don't know whether to be flattered or scared.

But I was the first Spirit to officially say the wand was coming down. And I recall people sending me links to posts here (I wasn't a member or a reader back then) of people saying I was crazy and full of it etc ... almost like the days a decade ago when I posted on AOL newsgroups and told everyone that Mission Space was coming to EPCOT and got attacked by fanbois who were comvinced something called Fire Mountain (nothing but the bluest of blue sky was coming to MK instead and that I had no clue what I was talking about ... even though the info came from one of WDW's top execs who was intimately involved in getting the attraction).

I don't really care what you think, but you may affect impressionable newbies and I'd like to again set the record straight.

As to the post quoted above, not only did the wand come down, but the Milennium chintz is coming down and the paint scheme has been changing since the spring.

The cemetary is also leaving/moving. They've dragged their feet on that one because they don't know exactly what to do with it. And EPCOT has also had a change in management. But its days are numbered.

Of course, I may just be guessing  ... but if I am, I wish my guesses were as accurate in lottery numbers and at the track.

Are you saying that Tony is planning to retire or that WDI wants him gone? I would personally love to be mentored by Tony Baxter once I get into WDI.

No need to explain yourself to these...people.WDW1974 is one of the few truely informed insiders posting on the Disney fansites and if his reports are good enough for me they are certainly good enough for the bourgeoisof WDWmagic!

Here goes the WDW Hater defending da Mouse ...

First, the plans haven't been announced. Everything I've heard and pieced together leads me to believe that F-Land will be getting at least three attractions of some kind (and no, I am not counting meet and greets), as well as new shopping and dining facilities and much better theming all around as well as plussing to existing attractions.

Now ... we all know plans change. But everything says this is going to be significant.

Beyond that, Jungle Cruise is next up for its plussing (delayed for 3-4 years thus far) much like Mansion, Pirates, Small World, HoP have all gotten.

And there are still plans (in flux naturally) to reopen the Adventureland Veranda with a pirates themed buffet experience in time for the next film.

In other words, there's a lot on the table (I know there are a few other things being talked about too) for MK.

From a fanboi's standpoint, I'll gladly sacrifice (not that I, or any of us have a choice) a short coaster shoehorned into an existing facility at my least favorite WDW park for bringing some life to the No. 1 theme park in the world.
Well...That's nice, and new. I guess these plans are incomplete? :D

While I would like to see an MI coaster, I agree that FL expansion is more important and ultimately will bring in more money. Ultimately, I feel that if DAK and DHS start dropping / slipping in attendance because of IOA they Disney will be "forced" to address those parks. That can only help them.
