Davy Jones effect gone?

I was at the Magic Kingdom a couple weeks ago. Noticed the cool Davy Jones waterfall projection effect wasn't there. Anyone know why that was removed? Also (and this is pretty obscure) but there was a song being sung by a woman's voice in the area before the drop. I don't remember this being there in the past either. Any Pirates ride experts out there?

Not sure why no Davy Jones. I noticed it too. The emitter is there, but not blowing fog. The song is from the newest PotC movie. It is the mermaid song. They added it recently.

Hope it works before our trip in Dec... the mermaids and their song are my favourite part of the ride. It's so haunting and beautiful.

The Davy Jones effect is not always on in my experience. A few years ago I hyped it up to some relatives that were joining me (they'd been on the ride before but not since that was added,) and it was off when we rode. My family was like, "did we miss it?" Oops.

When we went late sept, I swear it was not Davy Jones, but Black Beard on the projection. It was very hard to see the projection compared to what I saw Davy Jones look like.

The mermaids were signing and projection of them on the sides of the boat were working.

I'm pretty sure I saw Black Beard on it last Oct too... and the mermaids/song were working. It was awesome and reminded me of how much I love when Disney gets it right.

You're absolutely right. I've seen both Davy and Blackbeard projections. They must have a couple of videos to choose from. Now only if they could put in the alternate option video for Soarin' but that's a whole other thread I didn't notice the mermaid projections Dang, that sounds very cool.
