I just watched the most terrifying thing. 20,000 leagues under the sea would occasionally leak water, just imagine you in the submarine and water starts pouring in.
1970s Disney World was like that sometimes! I mean, look no further than Snow White 1971 or that creepy Khmer Ruin on Jungle Cruise!

Hi, I just wanted to let all of you lovely people know that I finally have the privilege to see a ballet! I will be seeing The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky at a local theatre with my school this Friday! I'm so excited to see a Russian ballet because I love Russian classical music by Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, and Mussorgsky! This will also be my first time seeing a ballet in general!

Big day today. First electric guitar in a really long time. Not at all pertinent to the competition - I’m just super jazzed about it.

Went to see The Marvels and The Holdovers today.

The marvels was fine. Another step in the decline of the MCU. It’s a mid forgettable movie with some fun and funny bits. Not the worst but also definitely not the best.

The Holdovers though was amazing and wholesome and charming and sad and bittersweet and is a future Christmas classic for sure. Right now it’s jostling with GotG 3 for my favorite of the year: highly recommend

Holdovers was so good!! It is definitely on my list of annual holiday re-watches now, it’s just great in every aspect.

So Hollywood Studios started their holiday event "Jollywood Nights" this weekend.

This tweet sums up how well it went:

Seriously, it's SOOOOOO bad. The Tip Top Club is literally just a bar that they wheeled into the middle of the street. You wait in line for over an hour for mediocre pre-mixed drinks and ZERO actual theming. Lines for the Gertie cookie that wrap all the way around Echo Lake. Phineas and Ferb wait times that practically take up the entire event. After my horrible Disneyland trip in May I still thought WDW was a viable option since it's physically a lot more spread out with far less crowd "choke-hold" spots that were really my anxiety trigger for Disneyland, but OMG this level of nickel and diming is just freaking laughable and makes me never want to step foot in a stateside Disney park again. Especially when literally every one of Disney's competitors have all their Christmas offerings during the regular operating hours.

Piggy and Kermit in the big show are a cool feature, but that alone is NOT worth the $$ by a long shot and is the ONLY thing I saw that actually felt like it was cool enough to be part of a ticketed event.

Update on Jollywood Nights: Apperently Disney's responce to the negative reaction to the first night was to add a whole bunch of rare character meet'n'greets, most notably bringing Duffy back.

I found that out from this tweet:

I got like a minute in a realized this is gonna be a work of art I need to watch properly instead of on my phone while playing Mario Wonder lol. Excited for my next day off to really dive into it!

Ya'll I was so ready to be Wish's biggest defender. I was about to leave the theater and hit the ground running with "that was really good! I don't get why the reviews have been so poor." But I'm sad to say...

Wish bad. Wish is sadly very bad

Idk how you can have 3 different "I Want" songs without giving your protagonist a clear motivation beyond "Nice"

Coming to Universal Studios Florida in 2012
An Epic of Epic Epicness
Scott Pilgrim Vs the Universe: A Punk Rock Opera

ojqI4aB.png

"I call this punk rock opera based on my life: Scott Pilgrim Vs the Universe" - Scott
*Everyone groans*
"Vs the Universe? Really, Scott? It was like 7 people but every time you tell the story you make it bigger. First it was Vs the League. Then vs the country. Then the world. And now Universe?" - Stephen Stills
"Scott, if your life had a face I would punch it" - Kim Pine

There will be more details on the individual songs later, but here is the full Original Cast Album to listen to while reading through the Playbill.

Enjoy the Playbill for the production!

Here is a detailed look at the Soundtrack!

"WE ARE HUG BOMB AND WE ARE HERE TO ROCK!"
"Hug Bomb?"
"LEGAL MADE US CHANGE IT! ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!!!"

  1. Scott is Dating a High Schooler - Ensemble
    • A fun opening number that jumps between his dates with Knives and his friends teasing him. Introducing the cast and the tone well.
  2. Dreaming of a Dreamy Dream Girl - Scott Pilgrim
    • A Short, simple song of Scott zoned out talking about his dream of Ramona unaware of everything else going on.
  3. Bread Makes you Fat? - Scott & Ramona
    • A quirky, fun, simple song that is dialogue heavy with simple instrumentation showing Scott and Ramona on their first date. Including a bridge where Ramona lists all the types of tea to a shocked Scott Pilgrim who thought there was only one type of tea and is positive she is making them up.
  4. Knives is Fine - Knives Chau
    • A short song that is mostly just a bass solo showing Knives cutting and dying her hair, arming herself, and dressing for battle. A clear sign that she isn’t “fine” like Scott thinks.
  5. Ballad of the Evil Exes - Ensemble
    • A long song with a few different styles throughout mostly focused on fun fight scenes and effects.
  6. Her? - Scott, Ramona, Roxie
    • This song is the battle between Scott & Ramona vs Roxie. It eventually leads into a bit of an argument between Scott & Ramona over how little about herself she tells Scott.
  7. Battle of the Bands - Hug Bomb (Legal made use change it)
    • This song is the battle against the twins and is more or less just the band battling through music.
  8. The Power of Love - Scott, Ramona, Knives, Gideon
    • Scott uses the Power of Love to fight Gideon in this upbeat action song that quickly turns dark and somber when the way he mistreated Knives/Ramona by not breaking up with Knives before dating Ramona comes out. And then Gideon kills him.
  9. The Power of Respect - Scott, Ramona, Knives, Gideon
    • Scott uses the Power of Respect to fight Gideon in this upbeat action song that turns triumphant as he finally learns to respect himself and respect the people in his life. Owning up to his mistakes and apologizing.

I've been watching the new Scott Pilgrim anime (it's SO GOOD but I won't spoil it) and one gag they added was a musical based on Scott's life with a song called "Bread makes you fat." Team Reality (@Tegan pilots a chicken @Homemade Imagineering @TwilightZone @Orange Cat @Shannoninthemagic @D Hulk), we should sue Netflix for stealing our ideas from Sorcerer's Apprentice Season 7 :p

Just got out of the theater from seeing Godzilla Minus One and wow...Just freaking WOW. I'm absolutely blown away on pretty much every level. Not only is it far and away the best movie I've seen this year, it's hands down the best action movie of any sub-genre since Mad Max: Fury Road and is just a complete and total instant classic. It's just crazy to me that this movie is literally 1/20th the budget of something like The Marvels or Dial of Destiny and yet just blows EVERY modern day CG sludge blockbuster out of the water with the actual effects. I truly hope this is a watershed moment where Hollywood gets the message that less is more.

@Dark PerGron I also loved The Holdovers, but I don't think it hit me as much as it did you. I'm getting more and more into it based on listening to the soundtrack. It's an all around solid film with some really great performances. Definitely rooting for Giamatti to pull out an Oscar win especially since he had one of the most infamous Oscar snubs of the past 20 years with Sideways back in the day. Tbh the existence of Sideways is kind of why I don't love The Holdovers more haha. It's probably an "east coast vs. west coast" thing of preference but Sideways has always really vibed with me specifically because of the setting, so having never spent a snowy winter on the East coast while it does make for a great film setting I just can't personally connect to it the same way I can with Sideways.

Meanwhile, I'll just throw out that Next Goal Wins was bafflingly bad and for me kind of felt like Taika's own personal "The Love Guru" as far as how badly it's going to affect his reputation moving forward. Just a truly embarrassing turkey of a movie with very little redeeming qualities.

Was gonna go see Godzilla tonight but ironically enough ended up buying The Holdovers on YouTube to show my parents and sister while they're visiting for the weekend. My mom loved it, my sister thought it was alright, my dad fell asleep haha. I agree with your assessment though because I find The Holdovers better than Sideways due to my East Coast sensibilities haha.

I'm currently reorganizing my end of year list and with so many hype movies coming out this month I'm sure it'll change around again, but I'm probably going to do some sort of youtube video (edited or live I'm not sure) going through because after this month I'll be over 150

I enjoyed Next Goal Wins enough, I found it funny but definitely forgettable and definitely one of Taika's worst (though I still dislike Love and Thunder way more).
