While we wait for the game to return on Thursday the 28th, I wanted to discuss 2024.

2024 looks like an interesting year in film, mainly due to the writers and actors strikes either pushing off or canceling filming, so I wanted to go over my top 10 most anticipated movies of 2024.

My top 10 are as follows

Nosferatu- I’m a giant fan of Robert Eggers, with The Lighthouse being in my top 5 movies of all time and The Witch and The Northman both being among the best of their respective years. It doesn’t matter what his next movie is, I’m down, but seeing the Egg-man take on Nosferatu, color me intrigued.

Dune Part II- I loved the first part and part two was insanely anticipated. It was my number one most anticipated movie of 2023 and it falls just one to number two of 2024.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes- The biggest issue I have here is neither Matt Reeves nor Andy Serkis are part of this movie. That said, the most recent apes trilogy is one of the best of all time and this looks like a solid successor.

Bob Marley: One Love- I’m a sucker for a music biopic and I love Bob Marley, so this one has me hooked already.

Furiosa- Not gonna lie, the trailer cgi looks terrible here but I love Anya Taylor-Joy with all my heart and I also adore Mad Max: Fury Road, so I can’t say I’m not excited for it.

Challengers- This is kind of where my excitement is less than the others ahead of it, but I love Zendaya and I think this looks like a solid drama and it being pushed back caught my attention so on the list it goes.

Inside Out 2- Hot take, but I don’t really like the first Inside Out, it’s just kind of boring to me. That said, I think introducing new and more complex emotions is an interesting hook and I’m excited to see how it goes.

The Book of Clarence- I don’t know a whole lot about this one beyond seeing a trailer once and it having a lot of buzz from whichever festival it was at. That said, it looks intriguing and is getting good reviews, so I’m interested in seeing it.

Gladiator II- Ridley Scott is missing more than he’s hitting in recent years, especially with Napoleon which fell very flat for me, but I enjoy the first Gladiator and am interested in what he does with a sequel over two decades later.

Deadpool 3- I’ll be honest, this is on the list more because I needed 10 than actually being excited. I don’t want to give away too much because I’m arguing against it in a Disney debate tomorrow night, but it is at least somewhat interesting as I love the first film, but I wish there were others I could’ve put here but alas, 2024 looks kind of barren.

Anyway, what are your top 10?

Well I don’t know offhand what is coming out in 2024. Inside Out 2 and Dune 2 sound good; they were both good in their original movies. Cabrini (about Saint Francis Cabrini) is going to be very pro-woman but it may not be seen by many outside of the Christian and New York scenes.

Oh wow not really enough I'm excited about to fill a top 10 that's sad lol. Although Inside Out 2, Kung Fu Panda 4, and Furiosa could definitely win me over once I see more or see some reviews. And while I'm not a Deadpool fan, Hugh Jackman and the TVA being involved does at least have me more curious. I think this is the first time in a LONG time there hasn't been a super hero movie, comic book movies, or Disney movie in my top anticipated films (although "Untitled Walt Disney Animation Studios film" releasing in November shows some promise)

Lisa Frankenstein - Looks like a really fun, cheesey, campy, horror comedy. Trailer was super fun

Beetlejuice 2 - Do I think this will be good? No, absolutely not. Do I think I will love it? Yes, 100%

Argylle - Trailers look great and it's Matthew Vaughn. I usually really enjoy his style. Plus, the cast is stacked. Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, John Cena, Bryan Cranston, Sam Rockwell, Catherine O'Hara... All in a stylish spy comedy. Even if it sucks it will be a fun ride

Sonic 3 - I feel no shame. I love these movies. They know exactly what they are and what they want to be and then they do it well. Plus, Shadow is gonna be in this one so it is instantly perfect

Wicked Part One- I absolutely hate that this is just part one, but I'm a sucker for musicals and John Chu's directing style was amazing for the musical numbers for In the Heights. I'm cautiously optimistic even if I wish it was animated and not split into two parts.
