Sadly I think the answer is as simple as “Gotta have something new to advertise in 2023”This is also really, really puzzling to me. With the rate at which work is being completed, these dates just make no sense.

Journey of Water in particular is such a Nothing Burger of an attraction, it's completely shocking to think it could be another year before they open it.This is also really, really puzzling to me. With the rate at which work is being completed, these dates just make no sense.
For Disney, "blue sky" doesn't mean "likely."it would mean we weren't likely to get anything big for at least 5 years.
Ya wanna check your math?By 2025? In two years? Nah.
You could argue anything new coming down the pike is clearly not starting work within the 2022 calendar year . . .Ya wanna check your math?
You could argue that they'll spend five years in design and it won't come out until 2030 . . .You could argue anything new coming down the pike is clearly not starting work within the 2022 calendar year . . .

*I* would probably argue they aren't gonna bother with any of it.You could argue that they'll spend five years in design and it won't come out until 2030 . . .
Anyone upset with this show should realize something.
If they had not shown the concepts for Animal and MK it would mean we weren't likely to get anything big for at least 5 years. These still might take 3-4 years to be completed but it's a good sign. Disney is not going to sit back and let Universal open Epic Universe unanswered.
In the end, the fans win. We'll get some huge new lands and attractions by 2025-2026 and I'm all for that. Dino is a disaster and more MKis a good thing.
They didn't say anything about the Communicore Concert venue, or the DL Tarzan treehouse retheme, or Fantasmic!, or the MK RR, and we know they're still on the way.By the way, is this official confirmation that the Play! Pavilion, at least as originally planned, is dead?
You'd think they'd at least have mentioned it somewhere if it was still in the works, especially considering how little they had to say about Disney World overall.
Same can said for Mary Poppins. My guess is a lot of those things that were out off due to Covid are dead.By the way, is this official confirmation that the Play! Pavilion, at least as originally planned, is dead?

One thing I would like to know is what happened to that rumor of Disney wanting to spend money. Coming out of this you can tell they don't see Epic Universe as a threat.
Agreed on the desperation part. The blue sky stuff is just hype as I don't see a lot of that happening any time soon if at all. My thoughts are end of the decade at best. Not sure how you come to that conclusion.
It's a threat, they see it, if they didn't they would all be out of jobs via votes of no confidence by the board and shareholders. This is business 101.
The fact that they are showing blue sky stuff 3+ years out tells me that Disney thought Epic Universe would get significantly delayed. That didn't happen, and now they are scrambling.
That show ending reeked of desperation.
