There have been patents relating to a Disney themed social AR game that connects to some sort of physical tile that could maybe be attached to a magic band. Here's one of the recent ones http://www.freepatentsonline.com/20190222975.pdf. Seems potentially pokemon go inspired with an emphasis on collecting and trading. Basically digital pin trading

I could see the announcement being something like this since it's a larger initiative that works in the parks, but also has potential outside the parks.

I heard about this. Any rumors of land purchases in the US...?

Any rumors of island purchases? When the new ships come on-line, there will be too many ships for Castaway Cay. A few itineraries are offering two days at Castaway. Disney wants to keep that $💵$. They will need another private port in the Bahamas.

Although, one would hope having additional ships would mean additional European or even Far East itineraries. How cool would it be if Disney owned a small island in Greece for the Mediterranean cruises? Or off the West Coast of Central America? Or Polynesia? The possibilities are endless.

Serious thought: maybe this will be an announcement of a new CEO for TWDC.

Edit: it says "project" so probably not.
No, it very well could be! Their current CEO has been malfunctioning for years so this project will be them designing and building a brand new state of the art CEO. Features like state of the art AI and non-robotic interview capabilities are two of the most reported on rumors so far. It makes so much sense.

Edit: I guess I should put *sarcasm* here in case others can't tell a joke.

Guys, I got it. Iger is going to announce that he's stepping down to start his bid for a presidential run!

Disney already announced (or at least, the Bahamian Government announced) the purchase of part of a second Bahamian island. https://disneycruiselineblog.com/ports-of-call/port-summary/?port=154

Actually the CEO has done a TREMENDOUS job running this organization. The value that he added to the company is mind boggling and his job is to create value for investors which there isn’t many better than Iger in the past few years.

A new “island” destination is already in the works.

At the expense of guests visiting the parks.

And maybe it’s finally come home to bite them where it hurts. All those cuts in the SW:GE budget for things like live street entertainment, interactive features, roaming droids etc seem to backfired.

I didn’t read through the whole thread so hope this hasn’t already been discussed. Since Star Wars was supposed to be this record breaking, mind blowing expansion so you think they will address the lukewarm reception to it. Or any other details about ROTR or the hotel? Or will they just ignore SW all together since everything has already been announced. Just curious if they typically mention successes, etc of the past years and even if they would consider it a success.

This is D23, not the annual stockholder meeting.

Both of those are done deals and not secret.

Yeah, thats already out there and Disney has discussed it publicly.

Just to clarify, I didn't mean their announcements, I meant new news relating to either of these which is likely to have a stock market impact that they wouldn't announce over a weekend.

But that wouldn't be a 'secret' that also needs a separate hour panel to discuss.
