Remember the phrasing specifically referred to a "project."Won't be surprised if Mr.Iger says he's extending his CEO term..

Could be. A consumer product/interactive product or parks announcement are my two leading theories. That’s why I think it’s the AR app/game/social platform. It touches on parks and resorts, but also animation and pictures since it could be used to tie into all new movie releases and such
A poster mentioned Brayden from Mickey views giving out hints about the announcement but all I could find is a vague tweet saying Disney has something up their sleeve and it hasn’t been speculated yet.Martin doesn't know what it is. (Private convo.)
Really? Can you please post the link on here? Some theme park reporters are calling this a well-known secret.A poster mentioned Brayden from Mickey views giving out hints about the announcement but I could find is a vague tweet saying Disney has something up their sleeve and it hasn’t been speculated yet.

He tweets that he heard that Disney has big things to cover Universal, and replied that it was not a fifth gate.
Wouldn't it be cool if they made a "mini park" somewhere? Kinda of like Disney Quest but an actual park. Doubt it would ever happen.

A boutique park is high on their 'wants' list. Low capacity, limited number of attractions, maybe not even a full day experience. High price to match the level of service & personal attention you are supposed to get.
I heard about this. Any rumors of land purchases in the US...?
It could also be tied to that ever elusive "regional entertainment" dream (aka, Mineral King, St. Louis's indoor Disneyland, Club Disney, DisneyQuest, etc.).
Maybe DVC + those black box attractions could make it work when earlier attempts failed...
Distracting fron the 50th in one thing but given that the company's 100th is coming just 2 years later something will be announced prior to 2021.The other thing outside of Parks, is that they seem to be staffing up their games division again with industry execs. But D23 doesn’t seem like the right place for that type of announcement.
Disney Plus is already a main attraction and has already started to promote all of the year 1 and 2 projects. Studios has a panel.
So Chapek’s division is still the most likely candidate. Timing could be good to do a full rundown on Triton class ships and maybe even announcing the names. As well as a rundown on lighthouse point. Just seems odd that wouldn’t have been announced originally on the schedule.
Current relations would likely not encourage an announcement of the second Chinese park. A HK size regional park in LatAm would have leaked. A fifth gate or obtaining full Marvel theme park rights would distract too much from WDW’s 50th.
But hasn’t there been a large amount of land recently purchased for conservation offset? (As discussed elsewhere, likely not enough) No way is that Disney Air thing true. No profit margins in airlines.
This does feel like a Parks project. The timing is too convenient, Disney knows what speculation they just started. And they wouldn’t mess with fans that way. Maybe a decade ago, but not now.
If you've listened to a recent conference call, you know that far less important questions are asked all the time.
