Maybe it's another "Year-or-So Of A Million Dreams" promotion...

or another "Free Ticket On Your Birthday" deal.

Hey those were good perks getting a free pair of Mouse ears during YOMAD and the free ticket on Birthday offer was even better if you had already bought your ticket or were a passholder you got a Disney Gift from Uncle Walt of the price of admission to use in the parks...

I think that's kind of what this thread is... until there are actually announcements. :)

The secret presentation's location doesn't indicate it's going to be anything as big as people are hoping. It's not in the main presentation area where the largest presentations are scheduled (like the parks area), so that could be an indicator of overall scale of the announcement.
Those presentations are wide ranging and appeal to virtually all Disney fans. One big park project, especially one not in Anaheim, likely wouldn't draw as big of a crowd (especially since whatever the project is will already be announced, and likely all the details revealed already), and Stage 28 still has decently high capacity.

I think we can pretty much drop the 5th gate talk. As several posters have stated it’s not in the works and I rather they round out their current park offerings.

But hasn’t there been a large amount of land recently purchased for conservation offset? (As discussed elsewhere, likely not enough) No way is that Disney Air thing true. No profit margins in airlines.

This does feel like a Parks project. The timing is too convenient, Disney knows what speculation they just started. And they wouldn’t mess with fans that way. Maybe a decade ago, but not now.
I have not seen much land has been acquired it the past year or so. I dont really know how much would be needed for that kind of project.

As for Air Disney, profit margins suck in the industry, but a that profit is a profit Disney didn't have. I heard it once recently and started laughing.

Why is the "Air Disney" thing still being discussed? The rumor came from a site that is known to post fake Disney stories and has since been pulled. Has any one else corroborated this rumor?

While I still think a 5th gate is possible someday, and I would love for them to surprise us, the only theme I could see them dedicating a new park at WDW to would be Marvel. And the contortions that would have to happen to make that possible are significant and would mean that Comcast made a significant strategic mistake. I don’t believe that would happen.

The more I think about this, the more I’m thinking this is DCL related. Bookings for 2021 will be coming up soon. The first new ship is expected in 2021 (although it sounds later in 2021) that the timing could align. And work on lighthouse point should be starting soon.

They’ve purchased roughly 2,500 acres within the last year.
And yet, as far as I'm aware, Disney still hasn't submitted a mitigation request. Now, this can be taken one of two ways: (1) Disney's in no hurry, and the land purchase will just sit in their back pocket until they need it or (2) they don't want to reveal the shape and scope of the land they'd like to build upon before they announce their intentions.

Separately, I think Disney needs to really consider creating a park with the same appeal as Magic Kingdom, in order to draw guests away from that park. MK can only be expanded so much, and if you look at that park there's only a few remaining parcels to expand, and they're not terribly big. You also need to leave some room for the future, as well.

Eh. With these types of presentations they can draw it out as long as they want too. Whatever it is, I bet the presentation will end 15 minutes early and they'll spend 30 minutes talking about meaningless crap. But that's just me.

But it is a press conference beforehand and a 1 hour panel. So it is something that the mainstream press will care about and they want to hype and they have the back up for the hype.

This is an interesting puzzle. Too much hype for a regular announcement, but it is only an hour panel.

What type of project would require more than an hour presentation, especially if it's in the initial "this is what we plan to do" stage?
