D23 Disneyland/DCA Predictions!

The only thing I’m expecting is an update on Marvel Land with more details about the Spider-Man Attraction. And possibly more info about a Toontown overhaul including more information about MMRR.

What I’m HOPING for is:
-Fantasyland expansion
-Tomorrowland overhaul
-Pixar Pier phase 2 that would bulldoze the tacky spinners and Goofy’s to be replaced by a legitimate dark ride (Coco!)
-Hollywoodland overhaul
Pick one. That’s all you get.

Coming in 2025. 😂

If they’re releasing it under Fox, it doesn’t belong in Tomorrowland. Release it under the Disney banner, cowards!

A Flash reboot has been floundering over at Fox, so I guess that's where the rights have been lately. Since they're saying this is for an animated film, I'm sure it will be released by Walt Disney Animation Studios.

While part of me is disappointed in this not being live action, there's some real interesting potential here. Animation might enable the film to have wild, pulpy designs without coming off as campy (for example, the way The Incredibles makes us forget how underwear-over-tights and domino masks are really quite silly).

And if Into the Spider-Verse has shown us anything, we've really only begun to scratch the surface on stylized CGI films.

It's still too early in the summer for this, and I reserve the right to change this list before August, but I'll play...

My easy predictions announced for Disneyland Resort at D23 Expo this year! In no particular order;
  • A full reveal of DCA's Marvel Land, including the actual name and fleshing out the Spiderman attraction, Hank Pym Ant Man micro-brewery, the inevitable upcharge merchandise "Immersive Experience!", etc.. This will also include a creative overview of the new Spiderman ride coming to DCA Marvel Land, with some artwork of the vehicles in action, etc.
  • A reveal of how Mickey's Runaway Railway will integrate into Toontown, including artwork of the facade and what the queue and pre-show will be themed to instead of the Chinese Theater at DHS.
  • Announcement of the rumored Magic Happens daytime parade for Disneyland that another website is talking about.
After those three easy ones, there are a couple of long-shot predictions they could surprise us with;
  • Announcement that the supper club restaurant is being added back to Star Wars Land in the open plot of land behind the Cantina where it was supposed to go, opening in late 2021.
  • New DTD tenants for the abandoned warehouse buildings on the western side of DTD; AMC Theaters, Rainforest Cafe, ESPNZone.
Also, it's pretty evident now that the Resistance ride won't be open by D23 Expo, so maybe Mr. Chapek will announce the opening timeframe finally to avoid complete embarrassment? Mid October? Thanksgiving? Christmas?

I also predict that without a drunk creative executive on stage with him this time, Mr. Chapek will be awkwardly corporate and disingenuous with the audience as he fakes enthusiasm for Disney theme parks and does the 'Fun Upbeat Energy!' version of himself that he practiced with his speech coach. His communications team will also still put the words "Immersive", "Engaging" and "Experience" into his script.

I also predict his Bob name tag that he only wears at these public dog and pony shows will be ever-so-slightly crooked and/or placed slightly too low on the lapel of his sport coat.

The other stuff in the Disneyland Resort pipeline, like a New Tomorrowland, DCA Avengers E Ticket, Eastern Gateway 2.0, Fantasyland expansion, all seem too dependent on the Eastern Gateway 2.0 and thus dependent on the still thawing relationship with Anaheim's City Hall. Movement on Eastern Gateway 2.0 should begin this fall according to @Darkbeer1, but that's a few weeks after D23 Expo ends. Most of that stuff will need to wait until D23 Expo '21 most likely.
Is it really called, “Magic Happens”!? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

According to a CM on another website it is. But that CM rambled on about how she got all this information from her drunk managers at a West Hollywood gay bar as they hit on cute guys (I am not making that up, I swear!), so you can take it with a big grain of salt.

I have a hunch that if that CM is correct, that Magic Happens is just a working title and they'll come up with something more appropriate before it is announced at D23 Expo for a 2020 premiere.

This is the thread of what might be announced for Disneyland/DCA at D23! Leave your predictions or what you might want to be announced at D23!

My predictions:
  • TomorrowLand Overhaul
  • Marvel Land rides/update
  • Mr. Toad replacement (I doubt this will happen but it needs to go)
  • M&MRR annoucment
  • Pixar Pier additions??(hopefully not)
  • Fantasyland expansion
  • Maybe something with Matterhorn (not sure what though haha)
I beleive
-Marvel land details
-Tomorrowland Overhaul which might be the next DL thing
-Grizzly Peak Overhaul/tweak

I could see the first two but not the Grizzly Peak one
I think DCA is going through an overhaul a big one.
Every land in DCA has changed except for Hollywood and Grizzly Peak. I think Hollywood land might become a 70’s style land and maybe Grizzly Peak could get a massive overhaul to have a better atmosphere.
Not saying it will but Hollywood land is ok by itself for another half decade but Grizzly Peak needs help as it has the last reminders of the original DCA, nothing has really changed there. Hollywood land has gotten new shows and the Monsters ride, Bugs land is becoming Marvel, Radiator Springs replaced the weird farming place, Pixar Pier replaced Paradise Pier. We might instead get a redevelopment of the place south of the Pier with the Little Mermaid.

Huh? Grizzly Peak is the best thing in that park.

It lacks in what Disney is known for,
The theming is fine as it does have a good atmosphere but they should refurb the ride there. Make it have a proper story and maybe some new theming which is not exactly needed as it is fine there. I think the Grizzly Mountain in the middle should have the River Rapids ride go through it. I want them to still have it be a Rapids but have more story and make it be a bit longer as it is crammed into a small space that can be expabded

Also since Marvel land will grab people’s attention as that land is (quote) “might have as immersive rides as Galaxy’s Edge”
The ride just is old and needs help.
They just need more of the Disney feel (not IP’s but the stories that Disney makes with their rides)

Grizzly Peak is the only thing in DCA that represents what Disney is known for. Could it use some animatronics and a few tiny upgrades? Sure. But it’s certainly better than Marvel will offer. I’m starting to think you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I do,
Marvel land is a big budget land and if you have seen what they are planning for DCA, it is big.
Grizzly Peak has stayed as almost the same thing since opening and does not exactly have a story. Including since it is the worst rapids ride they have made. They should make a proper story and maybe combine the stuff from Shanghai’s one (not the guardian, a few grizzly bear animatronics that are impressive). The ride is being outdone. GotG is a great ride, better then the DCA ToT but nothing beats the DHS/TDS ToT. It is los of fun but as DCA is changing, it needs to change to be more impressive as it averagely gets less then 45 minutes wait and is dropping more as Marvel land will eat up more crowds (including when the phase 2 part of ML will open which is rumored to be a Avengers coaster)

You’re smoking too much. MB is bad. Grizzly Peak is good. You demand Disney quality but defend MB and attack Grizzly Peak. Get outta here.
