Dude, you're always pessimistic. I don't need to rephrase anything you say, you take care of that yourself already.

You've been here what? 2 months? Thanks for always knowing how I am.

Was I pessimistic about Star Tours II? Nope. Am I pessimistic about TLM? Negative. And I pessimistic about the new Dumbo? No way. Am I pessimistic about Be Our Guest? Nien. Am I pessimistic about Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Negatory.

Whatever. I see your posts a lot, and I usually see pessimistic written all over it. Even when being optimistic about something you trash something else.

Let's talk about something else then, Harry Potter announcement wasn't as big and powerful as I thought it'd be. Just more art. What do you think? Was this their response to D23?

I liked what I saw. I think they're doing a terrible job marketing the thing, but I think it's going to be really good. The main attraction is going to blow people away.I still want to know more info about the wand interactivity, and what DD will look like post change, so the announcement left me desiring more. However, I do know I'll be able to ride Forbidden Journey all the time while I'm living down there in the summer, so I'm happy.

As for it being a response, who knows.

No question. If Asia at AK were just a coaster and raft ride without the unified and detailed theming, it would be a vastly different experience.

For many guests, experiencing the theming and atmosphere is just as important as experiencing a show or ride. And for families with young kids (yes, they account for a big chunk of WDW's revenue even if they don't post on this site), meeting princesses and other characters is one of the main reasons they visit Orlando.

The new Fantasyland at MK will be incredibly popular, even if it adds only one ride.
Exactly...And who knows? There might be a expansion to the expansion.

Ehhhh...maybe. We'll see when it opens.

Yes and no.

I know I'm not what Disney is aiming for because I go all the time, but as much as I love theming, there's days where I just want to ride.
Yep. It could go south, could go north. :) I'm optimistic.

I agree with you...I tend to be more a walk around and explore type guy, though. ;):D

You're getting an e ticket and you're still complaining? They usually don't make two E-tickets at once you know? Obviously this Fantasyland will immerse you into the worlds and it is a new take on Fantasyland. ITA with EE.

They used to do it all the time before Paul Pressler and the MBA's came onboard

How about that jt04? He really nailed his predictions!

Congratulations, jt04!

It was interesting to see, because in my reading here,
I see him take a lot of grief for "uninformed opinions", and yet,
when all was said and done, his predictions were the most
accurate.

How do people feel about that?

(note: I don't know jt04, and have no dog in this hunt, except for the
fact that in the runup to D23, everyone "knew" what was going to happen.
I was curious as to how much was posturing and how much was truth.)

Please enlighten us with some examples.

I'll start.

Test Track and Kali River Rapids. Construction took place in 1998 on both attractions. While Paul Pressler was president.

Construction began on Test Track in 1996, once World of Motion closed in January. It was supposed to open in 1997, but didn't until 1999.

Correct. So construction was happening at the same time as Kali.

However, in the spirit of finding an accurate one we'll go with Rock n Roller Coaster and Kali.

Will that work?

It was a bit different at that point though. In an attempt to avoid cannibalization when the Animal Kingdom opened, Disney wanted to add new attractions to the other three parks. This was meant to be Eisner's brilliant plan to lengthen people's stay with a 4th theme park; instead of skipping a park to go to the Animal Kingdom they would feel obligated to see all of the new things including the Animal Kingdom. The problem was they weren't able to get all these attractions open by April of 1998. When Test Track failed to open, and the other new experiences failed to open (I'm not sure what it was meant to be at the Magic Kingdom, but I believe it was the David Copperfield restaurant at MGM), Disney saw the dip in attendance and panicked. Kali was already underway and they had to use money that was allocated for Beastly Kingdom to add things to the parks that suffered attendance drops as a result of the Animal Kingdom opening up.

The development of new attractions seems to largely be predicated on attendance dips. When DHS suffered as a result of Expedition Everest it became the park where the next few attractions were opened (Toy Story Mania, American Idol, Star Tours 2.0). They anticipated the need for an attractions surge at the time Islands of Adventure opened, but that park took guests away from the main Universal Studios park more so than any Disney park. Conceivably that's why Universal also built Rip, Ride, Rockit within a year of Harry Potter opening. If Harry Potter were to affect Disney's attendance, I would expect it to affect the attendance of the Animal Kingdom and/or Hollywood Studios. If it does, I fully believe that it will bring things like Animal Kingdom expansion, and the Monster's Inc Coaster back to the drawing board.

I agree with most everything you posted, but Enigdrum posted a question and I answered it.

He claims that no two E-Tickets were ever built at the same time because Disney hates us. I simply refuted that.

And, on top of that, think of 1989....A whole park, and a whole pavilion opened: WoL and MGM!:D

From all accounts, TDO tried to get a scaled back version, but Burbank shouted them down.

Don't listen to such stupid idle gossip.

And if EO comes, so what if he was wrong about it being announced at D23, he was still right about it coming.

Al Lutz always has been questionable and always will be questionable.

Heck, Lutz and his minions should've been barred from D23, due to their overly-negative nature.

Yea, he's an a-hole...

At least we can agree on that.

...but the guy has an incredibly respectable tract record as it pertains to breaking rumors before they come to be, and I still wish WDW had an Al Lutz.

Are you kidding?! Lutz's track record is mostly AWFUL!!! He does not deserve any such respect!

WDW does not need an Al Lutz--Lutz is much too horrible a man as it is.
