We headed to Epcot yesterday evening for food and drinks. Weather was nothing short of amazing.

On the bus , we noticed what was actually an affective safety measure to combat germs floating around, a propped open vent on the bus.

I'll take good air flow over a flimsy germ ridden plastic divider any day. I'm sure the 6 or 7 divine right internet virologists who have dominated the covid thread 24x7 over the last year have some googled charts and graphs to prove how dangerous it would be without dividers tho.

Back to the trip.

I spotted this lil guy nestled all snug inside the Odyssey building.

We hit up a few of the booths and finished off the night with Mission Space.

We decided to head over to GF and give The Enchanted Rose a try before MK. Since it is an upscale environment with upscale prices, we dressed appropriately for the occasion. Nothing too fancy, but we didn't want to look like we just came from the swimming pool. I mean, most people would respect the setting right? Lol, boy were we wrong.

IMG_20210313_171325110.jpg

We asked for a patio seat but they were on a short wait and said it could be awhile so we just put our name on the list. About ten minutes later we got a table, in the back, in the corner, by a bland wall. No big deal tho. And as we looked around, we noticed about 90% of the people there were wearing t shirts and flip flops and a few guests with hats on backwards. Several tables (especially the patio tables) were families who had clearly brought their own sodas (bottles of coke) and snacks, bags of chips and just ordered one or two drinks and were having their own little picnic. They were there when we arrived and were still sitting there with the SAME drinks when we left. Just taking up space, dressed like it was the beach.

C ordered one of the specialty cocktails and the waitress said they were out of one the main liquors for the drinks. Seriously? They had only been open 2 hours. The waitress didn't offer any other suggestions, she just said, "what else do you want"? C just ordered a beer. I told the waitress I wanted the Abt 12 and she looked at me like I had kicked a cat across the room. I explained it was a beer and she looked at the menu and wrote it down, smh. We also ordered the truffle fries.

Shortly after , they sat a family next to us with a screaming baby. Eventually the mother took the baby out of the restaurant. When they came back, the baby was still fussy and crying but the mother seemed to care less about others around them now. A few minutes later, our waitress told them there was a table avaiable outside on the patio and asked if they'd like it instead of sitting inside. Seriously, again!! Oh, well, we just laughed it off.

Nearly 15 minutes after ordering two beers, yes, beers, not mixed cocktails or specialty drinks, just bottled beers that the bartender simply hands to the waitress, we still had not gotten them. We watched our waitress chat with other tables who had gotten their drinks already and now I was getting a bit upset.

5 more minutes and passed and we were getting ready to leave when we saw our waitress coming down the aisle with our drinks and fries. She set them down and said ,"here ya go" and headed away. C stopped her and told her that we still had not gotten silverware or side plates to which the waitress replied, "oh ya, let me get those". We mainly wanted the tablecloth napkin for our laps. But side plates would be nice too.

Here's the glass she gave me for my beer.

Very classy, smh. The truffle fries were very good tho. Very good.

The Abt 12 is always a good choice too.

We discussed the overall experience while we had our drinks. We know that there isn't a dress code for the place and it sounds snobby to complain about it, but for the prices, setting and being at the "flagship" resort, we both agreed that there should at least be some rules or guidelines. How about no baseball caps, especially if theyre on backwards. Or no flip flops. Can't bring in outside food or drinks, which I think is probly a rule but when a family has their two seater stroller parked next to the table and they whip out a soda or chips from it , I'm sure the waitress doesn't want to ruin their (potential) tip by telling them no.

And for the record, there were a few other couples/families dressed appropriately for the setting and looking to experience a more relaxed atmosphere, but this was simply not the place , or at least not on this day. We might as well have been at Cosmic Rays.

We decided that we aren't gonna write it off after just one experience. We are going to try again today. We plan to be there when they open at 4 pm to get a decent table and hopefully better experience. It can't get much worse than yesterday, right? In the words of Supreme Leader Snoke, "we shall see".

Me containing my desire to throat punch Disney for that craptastic experience.

IF you go back I recommend sitting at the bar. Omit the middleman and strike up a conversation with the barkeep. Our best ER experience was sitting at the bar, great views and conversation.

We are debating the bar or patio. The patio offers such a great spot to enjoy some drinks, but I think you're correct in going with the bar to insure (or is it ensure) a good experience.
