Cuts coming to every area of parks and resorts - thanks to Shanghai and Paris

What was the other option? Give the pavilion the Wonders of Life treatment? Butcher all the marine life and serve it to guests during Food and Wine?
Well, I agree on that, there are certainly worse things they could have done.
I guess I liked the science side of it, going down to a base at the bottom of the ocean, but I am of the generation that loved the Disney-Science-Education thing, back when EPCOT was educational and entertaining.
It is the lesser evil, and my sense of awe when I'm in there is unchanged

Not that I don't believe you, but I don't understand this logic. How does FP+ avoid the need to build new attractions (at least, in theory)?

If I understand this at all, it's deeply discouraging, because it means that instead of the ten years of staleness being the result of unintentional neglect or financial difficulties, it was a deliberate (and evidently cynical) policy. So I'd like to understand how on earth FP+ was supposed to obviate fresh attractions.

The idea behind MM+ was to make guests think that ALL attractions had the same value so a ride in the Mad T Party was equivalent to one of the mountains, FP+ was supposed to distribute guests evenly across all attractions at WDW so all attractions saw equal loads, This supposedly would 'free' capacity on the POPULAR rides hence no new attractions would need to be constructed and the initial pricetag was around 800 Million so it was a 'no brainer' to the clueless executives who approved this (according to trusted insiders MM+ is now heading north of 3 billion) WDW Ops said it would never work and sadly they have been proven correct.

I understand the infrastructure needs of MM+, but how has the cost gone all the way up to 3 billion?

You would have to ask @marni1971 or @WDW1974 that question I'm just repeating what I've read, But large scale IT infrastructure is not cheap, The magic bands are not cheap either along with their distribution cost which depending on who you believe each band ends up costing Disney 3-5 bucks a shot as compared to 25 cents or so for a RFID card.

Thank you. I've seen what goes into the magicband themselves, but with the amount of stuff Disney mass produces, I can't understand, especially after almost 3 years of the magicbands being in circulation; that Disney has not been able to reduce the production/distribution costs of the magicbands.

They probably have reduced production but let's face it UPS and FEDEX have to make a profit and they are not going to ship them for free. I think now the packaging and shipping are probably the most expensive parts, The laser engraving process also takes time and treasure.

It's honestly not that far fetched of a reason, imo. We know how out of touch they are.
Lol, I've been thinking a lot recently about how poorly TWDC manages Parks and Resorts, but specifically WDW. They consider it the "flagship" of the whole Parks and Resorts division but they have the most stuff falling apart and the most budget cuts. One of the things that always comes to mind is seeing the original video concept art for Ariel's Undersea Adventure VS what we have now. It's really also quite appalling that DLR as a whole (DLR & DCA) have more "attractions" then all 4 WDW parks.

I believe the magicbands are shipped with USPS, which is just cheaper, but probably worse then FedEx or UPS.

What's also quite appalling is the state of Peter Pan's Flight, you go on the 7DMT and are amazed with the AAs and then you go on Peter Pans Flight and realize that the window displays figurines are more advanced then the AAs in the attraction. And also how the last scene of CoP is the "future" but they're wearing closes from the late 90s early 2000s. That makes soooo much sense. How much could it possibly cost to put new clothes on them, I won't even get started with the AAs on the CoP. I'm gonna stop now because I could go on all day.

Last batch I got were UPS but modern shipping systems automatically choose the best carrier based on customer critera which in Disney's case is probably cost.

I think you and spirit are flashing back to the era before DLs 50th when that park was so dilapidated and the promise of DCA and DAK were so profoundly underwhelming. And that era left us with a Yeti so value engineered it may not be possible to repair and still appease regulators.

Don't do drugs.

The quickest way is by exaggerating the number to make it sound more dramatic. No one knows except the accounting department how much was spent on it. I doubt, it even came close to that number. That number has grown and grown depending on how much they felt was important to shock the public. I see it worked well.

And several years after THAT WDW is now

And I also don't understand how they could've possibly thought MM+ would make it so they could avoid building new attractions. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard lol
They touted "interactivity" as well.
Like how they are still rolling these "active" ads and/or details.
Like those banners at Everest that have your name.

Anyway, it took Potter's 2 lands (aka Universal skyrocketing in attendance) to kick Disney's butt and make them go back to build things.

I have to say, during the past week I have noticed SUBSTANTIALLY more filthy restrooms out of toilet paper or paper towels and with garbage bins overflowing. Deplorable, unhygienic, and of all ways to negatively affect your guest, someone thought the toilets was an acceptable place?

CMs have been lovely by and large though. They clearly still care.

That's just a bunch of crap.
