Wait, wait, wait...
So they run Philharmagic without the curtains? So it's just one big screen for the entire show? Woah... now that's pretty awful. Do they at least pull down the front of the 'fake stage' at the start?
Yup. Don't worry, the fake stage is still there. But the projections look wrong without the curtains.

There is nothing more futuristic than hang gliding over Yosemite.

Yosemite in the late 1990's, no less.

About the only thing more futuristic than that would be soaring over San Diego Bay to see the San Diego skyline in 1999, before about two dozen highrise condo towers and big 40 story hotels were built circa 2004-10.

But do you know what's even more futuristic than San Diego circa 1999? Los Angeles circa 1998! (The first Soarin' clip captured as a "test" by WDI in July, 1998) Especially when the Staples Center wasn't built yet, and all the dramatic skyscrapers and hotels and condos along that 1998 Harbor Freeway flight path were all still 8 to 12 years from existence.

And do all this late 1990's soaring over California in Florida. In a pavilion about food production.

Yup. That all seems pretty logical.

Perhaps you have not heard that they are creating a new film. Or that hang gliders that can carry a multitude of people that can go anywhere in a blink of an eye have not been invented yet.

PS- From way up there it really creates awesome views of "The Land"

Not sure if DCA will get a new version as to better match the parks' Main Street which is also last century.

They are, but how many years before it debuts? It's already overdue. Why should I hold my breath for something that TDO will most likely drag out over half a decade to accomplish?

Doubt TDO is a driving force behind the film. More likely it has to do with making a film that is more relevant to a global customer base and production is being run from Glendale.

Now it used to be that people complained nothing was happening. Now people complain that something is happening. I will wager the film debuts for summer 2015. At least at Epcot. IMO.

The complaint isn't that it's happening, its that it's already overdue, and Summer 2015 is extremely optimistic. And there's nothing else to look forward to for Epcot, which sorely needs attention and new attractions. Any new attraction announced at this point will not see light of day for 2-3 years minimum. But Epcot needed this stuff years ago.

No, that's more than a little off target. People are not complaining that something is happening. Rather, people are voicing legitimate concerns that either not enough is happening, or in some instances the wrong things are happening.

Epcot has begged attention for years; A new film and a Frozen overlay where it doesn't belong aren't going to solve festering problems.

As I have said many many times there were higher priorites. But the tide is turning now.

1 Imagineering was spread thin. China took precedence because of its importance to TWDC.
2 Disney wants a successful UO/SW or is under political pressure to let UO/SW thrive, not fail.
3 Disney prefers to react to competition rather than lead. Once bitten, twice shy.
4 Infrastructure at WDW was neglected under previous mgmt. That had to be fixed first. See MK Hub.
5 Magic+ took a lot of capital (but will pay off ultimately if properly Imagineered).
6 Normal business cycles that have always effected WDW. Always.
7 Higher priorities within TWDC such as animation and Pixar/Marvel/Star Wars and overseas parks.

Plus other factors I am sure such as the recession and keeping investors happy.

IMO.

The latest attendence reports seem to indicate the masses disagree. There are a lot of cranes at WDW and I suspect there will be from now until 2021.

I have but one question to ask - why is there still a shuttered attraction languishing in plain sight after all of these years??? Argh .. my poor, poor Epcot. Captain EO? Really?? WS is keeping Epcot on life support.

Just think about that for a moment. Festivals, flowers, booze .. all money making endeavors that keep new cash flowing into the Epcot coffers. Old attractions don't make any more money, so they sit idle for years. Yikes. I'm almost embarrassed asking my folks to go with us - almost nothing has changed since they were there so many years ago. You can clearly see what direction mgmt is taking with this park. Good luck, my old friend.

No, this is a lot of cranes.

I actually remember that. 4 hotels and a boardwalk if memory serves. Two of which caused visual intrusions over WS. (Swan and Dolphin).

Oh, and a putt-putt golf course.
I'll take a temporary visual intrusion over Showcase any day if the end result is Boardwalk over the permanent folly that is the Swolphin. :)
