*Huggles*

Thanks huggles to you too! (and actually it's kind of sad - the black doggie is gone from our house - he used to be a breeder and just couldn't handle his.... ahem.. emotions (?) this spring... so he had to go back to his first owner... it was a sad day - (but the couch and my husband's leg appreciated the move) :D

Wednesday HUGGLES.

I am DEAD TIRED!!!:( Would it be a bad idea to fall asleep in the bathtub? I'm pretty sure I would wake up if I went under the water.............:lookaroun

I hope tonight at work is better than last night or I think I am going to quit!!!:fork:

I was stretched way beyond my limits last night and I am getting tired of it. I almost blew up at my charge nurse, but kept my cool. I can usually tolerate alot, but last night I was really hot!!!:fork:

I need to go meditate somewhere or something..........

Are you back from your bath? :lookaroun :(

You need a good amount of *huggles*

Sounds like the shortage is getting to you. HUGGLES

Could this be part of why you are feeling you are not in the right place in your life right now? Remember, its not wrong to stand up for yourself, just be diplomatic. :lookaroun

It's not really a shortage issue. It's just that they put me in a place where I did not feel comfortable (ICU) for half of the shift and then turned around and moved me back to my original department for the last three hours while having me take over 3 patients that were new to me, plus the patient that transferred back with me from ICU. It was just crazy!!! I was trying to do assessments, pass meds and take care of I.V. problems that arose in my last three hours there (which turned out to be 4 hours by the time I left). They are not even supposed to float me anywhere until 6 months working. I just feel they were taking advantage of me because I am new and no one else wanted to leave their "comfort zone" and go to ICU. I have been really trying hard to put up with all the "newbie initiation rituals" but this was just too much! I just hope things get a little better instead of worse, otherwise I will have to rethink my options. I am not a quitter, but this has really got me down right now. There are so many "little groups of friends" that stick together not to mention the ones that have their head so far up the manager's butt that you can not see them. It's like that everywhere though. I am not a "brown-noser" and believe I can do a good job on my own merits.

Sorry about the ranting and raving. I just needed to spill my guts. I have to get ready for round 2. Wish me luck!

What you just described is a very dangerous situation and not just for a "newbie". You have every right to register a complaint with the unit manager and then the supervisor. Are you union by any chance? You can file a grievence if they are not living up to the contract.
You have to remember that everyday you go to work you put your license on the line...you have the right to refuse an assignment if you feel that you are not qualified .
