Cubs win!

Ya know, I really do feel bad for The Fan. He is going to be roasted (maybe literally) in the media until he's well done if the Cubs don't win.

I hear that there's already a reward from some media outlet for any personal information about The Fan. As if it was all his fault that the Marlins scored those runs.

Baker, its just the way he runs things. He manges his pitches horrible. I would love to see Prior go on and have a HOF career, but with Baker as his manager, I'm not so sure hes going to last. Yes, I know Wood had arm troubles before, but it doesn't mean that hes completely healed. Throwing that many pitches will take its toll on Wood, again. Its just that, having a 1-2 punch with Prior and Wood and knowing that with the way Dusty runs things, in a couple years one maybe both could be on the shelf. They could be the next Schilling/Johnson combo. They have all the potential. I just don't want to see them lose it all thanks to Dusty.

Sorry to bring this back up but what about Beckett pitching all of game 5?!

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I could just see the crowd & the Cubs tighten up in that inning after that interference, walk and error sequence. And I have to admit, after watching the Cubs fans behavior in Miami during game five, I took a great deal of pleasure watching them get stunned into silence.

That's completely uncalled for. I hope nobody takes them up on it!

And Gary- cut the fans a TINY bit of slack- 95 years! 95 YEARS!!!

Edit- too late on the first one- One of our major papers has already published the man's information. Stupid, stupid move! Even if I weren't a fan I would be praying for the Cubs to win tonight just for his sake! 95 YEARS!!

I am thinking that there will be a parade and a big hoo-hah regardless of whether the Cubs win the pennant or not.

Do any of you natives have an inside line on this?

Should we avoid downtown and Navy Pier?

Navy Pier and downtown should be fine....it just might be hard to actually GET downtown because of all the traffic and such. But Navy Pier and like Michigan Avenue are far enough away I think.

I'm hoping the Cubs win, but I can't understand why one kid, who isn't being paid a dime and won't be getting a World Series ring or meeting the president, is being blamed.

Shouldn't the players, who are being paid millions of dollars and who allowed EIGHT RUNS to score because of poor fielding and poor pitching bear some responsibility?

I know, sweetie. That's why I'd think the fans would be a little less boorish and a little more karma conscious.

Still, if the Cubs win tonight, I'll root for them in the series!

:sohappy:

It was the same count after that play as before. It was up to the Cubs to go ahead and get the out. They didn't do it.

Dear Alex Gonzalez,

Don't worry about everyone who wants to kill you right now.

Fundamentals, like using your body to back up a routine ground ball, or using two hands to handle that ball, are totally overrated.

Bill Buckner.

Navy Pier should be fine.... just the usual soccer moms driving there 1mpg Ford Excursions, with 10 kids in tow, heading to Navy Pier for the Halloween Activites. Parking may be an issue though (in the Pier parking garage).

If any celebrating will be done... my guess is it will be done on the north side near Wrigley... not downtown.

I have not heard anything from the city about any plans though.. for any kind of celebration or parade for the cubs this weekend... though.. that might change.

As far as traffic goes... the Ryan is always heavy as you approach downtown... as is the Kennedy... even at 3am on a Saturday. :)

He's toast now! Somebody better call the National Guard to get this man relocated to Miami if the Cubs lose.

Poor, poor guy.

Just saw the Smoking Gun report. They didn't give out as much information as the newspaper did. Shame on those reporters  and shame on the people who gave up his identity.
