Crowds next week???

Hey all:wave:

Friday my husband and I are going on our honeymoon. We got married in September, but my husband works at Fedex and they could only give him next week off for the honeymoon. We will be arriving this Friday, November 9th, and departing Sunday, November 18th. I have been 14 times to WDW before, but never in November. My only concern is that we will be arriving on Veteran's day weekend, and staying until the weekend before Thanksgiving. What will the crowds be like??? I just want to get a heads up from anyone who has been this time of year, so I can try to plan accordingly lol. Thanks :D

We will be there from the 14th to the 20th and we are hearing we should be ok for the crowds, maybe picking up those last 2 days with it being the week of Thanksgiving.

Congratulations, have a great trip and maybe we will see you, we are at POR too!

During the week, you will not any many problems with lines and waits. On the weekends, it might be different especially at MGM next weekend as the Lights are turned on at night.

EPCOT has been busy on the weekends lately with Food and Wine Festival too.

We will be there the 11-17th, and last year we went the same week and had barely any crowds. It was soooo nice to just enjoy and take everything in without rushing through crowds. We'll should have no problems with crowds next week.

It might be a little busy the first part of your trip as you are catching the tail end of "Jersey Week." It should not be horrible, though, and the rest of your trip should be fine. The weather is so nice in early November. Enjoy!:)

We are also going next week. My fears are the end Jersey Week (our schools are all off most of the upcoming week through Monday, November 12th - Veteran's day), the end of the Food and Wine Festival is the 10th, Soap Weekend is the weekend of the 10/11th, the lights go on as well as the entire Christmas thing starts on Monday the 12th, plus off site - Jack Hanna is at SeaWorld on the 11th. So, where do we go next weekend to avoid any crowds? I don't know! We planned out our week in advance as we are meeting up with a group of 23 of us in total. Saturday is our toughest day so far - Sunday we are just going to go to SeaWorld and deal with it.

But I have been down there this same week in the past and as someone else mentioned, the crowds during the week shouldn't be bad - it's the weekends.

Enjoy!

We've been there many times in Nov. even before they started to call it jersey week. Never really found it crowded, yes there are going to be lines but not like 50 to 70 minutes. Just get to the parks in the morning and you'll be fine. We'll be there from the 7th to the 12th, we just stay away from the Studios on Saturday, super soap weekend happens so it's alittle crazy then. Enjoy your honeymoon.

We aren't going to arrive until 11:30 friday night, so naturally we will just check in and go to bed.

Saturday the plan is to catch the F&W festival (I expect crowds) and we have a 5:10 dinner at Tutto Italia. So The first day we will be at Epcot, mainly WS. If FW isn't too crazy maybe some of that but probably not. Sunday we are going to Islands of Adventure. Thats the only off-property thing we are doing. I have never been, and my husband loves it.

Than Monday (11/12) we are going to DD in the am, and spend some time in DisneyQuest (hubby loves video games lol) and just take it easy for the day, because we are going to MVMCP that night :)

So the first weekend is all planned out lol.

Epcot will be a bit crowded on Saturday, but the rest of the week will be on the empty side. Tourinplans.com says that the Jersey Week crowds will be all gone by Sunday, 11 Nov.

Yes next week, Mon-Fri will be a very nice time to be at WDW. I go evey year at this time and we never wait longer than 20 minutes in a line. I did notice the weekends are much more crowded than the week with the food and wine fest, supersoap, veterans day and then of course the TG crowds moving in on the 17th and 18th. But youll have plenty of time to do whatever you want and then some! Enjoy your honeymoon, and maybe we will see you! :lookaroun :)

why do they call it jersey week

Thursday and Friday of that week (8-9 Nov this year - almost always the second Thu-Fri of Nov.) is the NJ State Teachers' Convention. Virtually every school in NJ is closed. In addition, often there are one or more days on Mon-Wed that week for teacher professional development that are half or full days off.

So people with kids in school, especially younger ones, take advantage of that to go to WDW when the crowds are not so very high. But it has just enough of an effect to change the crowd levels from moderate-to-low to moderate-to-high.

Others just take a long-long weekend from Wed afternoon to Sun night.

A bunch of the schools this year are off all of this week and on Monday. While others are only Thursday through Monday. With a "long weekend" it's common for NJ families to vacation at the world for the time off. Granted NJ isn't that big, but when you are down there this week, ask around. I bet you run into more people from NJ that you would ever imagine!

This is the most expensive time to fly out of any NJ airport. The fares sky rocket because of the demand. I can't tell you how many people I know that are down there this week.

Luckily the group we are going with were willing to pull their kids out of school next week too. We leave Saturday.
