Lol that's part of the reason... but I'm guilty of not reading post thoroughly and as a result have made my self look like an on many occasions. So I figured since it's something I've done so much that I'm allowed to comment on it. :D

Florida does have native crocodiles!

Crocodiles are not indigenous to Florida. The chances of finding one in the wild here are about as unlikely as finding them in most other states. The only way it could happen is if it was released from captivity (like from a zoo)…

Although they are rare and endangered, the American crocodile does live in Everglades National Park. Please see the following link:

Ok, which one of you put that extra s in existant?:o :D

It must have been me. I used the edit feature to change "follwoing" to "following" in my orginial post and while I was moving the "w" my finger accidentally hit the "s" key. I'll try to be more careful.:D

sigh...

Florida is a jungle that man has acclimated for his well being. Nothing more. This is gods country, we just choose to live in it.

I have seen more rare, endangered and dangerous animals in person, in my backyard the last 6 months, than most northerners do in a decade (well.. living on a lake helps out with that.. lol)

I can't remember when, I think it was last year, but I was on the riverboat and around on the other side of the island(Tom Sawyer) Where the little pirate scene is, I saw an baby alligator there. He was only a few feet long. Just thought I'd put in my 2 cents.

Talsonic just loves proving me wrong! ;)

I’ve lived here all my life and that’s the first time I’ve heard anything about them. I knew that gators were almost driven to extinction at one time but I had absolutely no Idea we had crocks in any way shape or form…

In any event, with possibly less than a thousand still alive being found only in some of the southern most points of the peninsula of Florida, it would be my guess that in most places, you would be safe from crocodiles with your hands in the water through most of Florida. :) Personally, I’d be more worried about what you find in the salt water around here than what you find in the fresh… Then again, Bull Sharks have been spotted in fresh water… Am I doing my part to promote tourism to Florida or what? :goodnevil

It is so infinitely rare to find that you have made a mistake that I just lose control sometimes.

Infinitely rare? Come on, you guys just don’t want to bother reading most of my long posts so you just read the first few lines and say “you’re right!” Don’t think I’m not on to you people! :p

If you want to see a real doozy, go read the thread about the Skyway ride closing… Just make sure you read the whole thing before you post or you’ll end up making the same mistake that others have after the fact. ;)

I saw a gator at the Magic Kingdom this past July. It was just a little guy about 2 1/2 maybe 3 feet long. I heard several people ask if it was real.

LOL

I once heard another story where a group of people were watching an alligator on Disney property and a woman asked if it was real and someone piped up that if it was put there by Disney that it would break into a song and dance and then ask for your money.
