I had nothing bad. So far none in our family did either. Many do not so you could be one too!

We canceled our trip because we were worried about crazies. From pics I've seen of friends posting in WDW and USF mask wearing is mixed and social distancing doesn't seem to happen much. Glad we're staying home. June is on though!
We're waiting until we're both fully vaccinated. At that point, we won't worry at all.

5th gate? Just build a new resort Bob.
We picked early May because that’s when I believe everyone who wants a vaccine will have had the opportunity to receive one (demand will exceed supply). I’m bringing my kids, they could pick it up there even with us vaccinated, bring it back to daycare, and spread it to the other kids, and then on to their parents. I’ll feel better knowing that the other parents had their shot to vaccinate.

Fewer doses today, as expected, but we still land at 2.39 million doses per day in the 7-day average. It was 2.16 million a week ago and 1.74 million 2 weeks ago. Wish we’d pick up the JnJ pace. 1.2 million administered but 3.7 million distributed? They should not be holding onto a single dose of this one. Having at least 80% of available doses used at all times is not an unreasonable goal.

Meanwhile, Fauci still talking about a “worrying case rate plateau” that was artificially made by a huge data dumps in days ago. The rate of decline has definitely dropped but that is to be expected as there are many fewer cases. Just 2 months ago we were at 250k cases reported each day. This week, if we ignore data dump day, which is certainly a statistical outlier, we are around 55k/day (can be precise on Tuesday when data dump day is no longer included in the average).

With that said, I do not envy the locals n FL dealing with a reckless level of crowding this week. Be safe.
The last 2 days combined are 6M so the 2 day average is 3M each day. Still great news. I think we are about to see another bump as less than half of the 4M JnJ shots initially shipped out were used. I bet a lot are scheduled for this week.

My 13yo is at the will of the trial. Please do not judge but we are not really that worried for a few reasons. Mostly because by June there will be enough herd immunity with a very low risk kid. My husband will be fully vaccinated by April. Sadly too late for spring break. We've canceled 4 trips so far and this time we're all in.
These anti-mask crowd have no idea or maybe don't care what it is like to get covid. My friends and one who is healthy is going through a very rough time recently with symptoms after testing positive.
I have a few friends my age (early 40s) who had issues too. One friend out of work for 4 months and only back part time. Teacher too. I have taken this quite seriously since the start. I do look forward to dropping masks in public outdoors though.

You couldn’t pay me to go right now! It looks miserable. I’m with you. I just wouldn’t feel comfortable when the majority are still unvaccinated.
I deal with severe anxiety and people behind me oddly make me nervous due to trauma. Seeing all these people with my husband not vaccinated yet fully (one dose in) just added. I need a relaxing vacation and I won't get that now. Early June works for us. More vaccinated and not all schools are done yet. Much nicer to go than this week in March anyway.

June trip is on here, too.

I am still waiting not-too-patiently for my shot(s), but hope springs eternal that I'll win the Virginia Commonwealth Vaccine Lottery this week or next. The state is doling out available doses according to complex algorithms that juggle multiple priorities, but my group should be reaching the front of the line soon. Then I will be optimistic for mild side effects -- neither my parents nor husband had too many complaints.
Good luck to you! I hope you get your shot soon and relatively side effect free. I always say I had it lucky in the trial. I had no clue if I got it let alone what to expect to feel lol

Someone from another non Disney forum posted that the Greensboro NC mega site is open 7 days a week 12 hours a day and is opening it up to anyone. I don't have any more info but worth looking into if you don't live too far.
Thanks. That's a bit far for me, but I looked out of curiosity. No appointments showing as available for the whole two months it's scheduled to be open, so it must be popular.

2 days ago, my Mom got her second dose of the vaccine (Moderna). Yesterday, she felt so sick and I felt so bad. Feeling like I couldn't do anything to help. She feels better today, though.
Good to know. Your mom will get better. The side effects after my second shot of Moderna hit me like a ton of bricks for 23 hours in mid Feb. But now I'm fully vaccinated and I got my CDC card to prove it!

Yea I think this week we get a big lift. My fully vaccinated date is Thursday. I had JNJ two weeks ago and the parking lot was slammed packed.

I live in Greensboro. It’s at four seasons mall. I’d say I know tons of folks getting the vaccine right now around here, and Wednesday the state moves to where mostly anyone can get it. They are actively advertising to call and get a spot

We just extended our 5/1 trip by one day, after 4 cancellations. So looking forward to it! Schools should still be in session then, and hoping crowds won't be too bad. Will be our first "jaunt" out in a year. Still haven't eaten inside a restaurant, and made reservations for 4 at Disney. Hubby now fully vaccinated, and daughter and I will be 3/24, leaving plenty of time for vaccine to kick in 2 weeks later. When we called Jetblue to change our flight home to a day later, it had to be approved by a supervisor, as we had changed flights so many times before due to Disney cancellations! Didn't realize they kept a record of cancellations like that.

Well my mom told we have to wait until two weeks after we are getting second shot for COVID-19 vaccine in April 1st to go to Six Flags Great Adventure maybe on April 17th or 18th. As the park may losing masks and social distancing maybe a few months like May/June as many people got vaccinated in NJ.

Sounds like a smart plan. Get the second shot and then let the vaccine work it’s magic. Six Flags isn’t going anywhere. Just gives you something to look forward to. As far as masks and distancing, who knows. Once enough people get the vaccine and the cases drop way down masks and distancing will be a thing of the past. I hope it’s early this Summer. There’s nothing wrong with a little optimism.

That 124k case day on 3/8 was apparently due to MO dumping a ton of antigen test results from long ago. Yet we have Fauci and the CDC director using that outlier to claim cases are plateauing.

Meanwhile, back in reality, where we ignore that data dump, we are at a 7-day average of 54k cases per day, 19% lower than 2 weeks ago. If it’s a plateau, it’s one they could sled down in Colorado. The last time we were this low is 10/15/20.

Agreed. Several states in the NYC metro area have plateaued but the national numbers are trending downward still.

Also really further proof a lot of folks have already had it and now have natural immunity.

Not so sure of the natural immunity part. As I have said before - daughter had it last March, tested positive for antibodies, donated plasma. In November had another blood test - no antibodies detected. Now there could be t-cells still there (which may protect her) which they can't test for, but she in no way does she think she might be immune, and is scheduled for a vaccine 3/27. She takes all precautions - mask, social distancing, washes hands constantly, hand sanitizer. Can't be too safe.

Well they’ve said the antibodies go away. It’s the T cells that do the trick. Same happened for me donating blood. Had my first negative antibody test about a month ago, after having a positive antibody in April, August and November

At the current pace (which should increase due to JnJ) of 1.59 million fully vaccinated Americans arising each day, 40% of us will be fully-vaccinated by 5/15 and 55% by 6/15. Note 55% of us is 70% of all adults, so it is likely that we will run out of willing subjects for dose 1 before Memorial Day. I suspect even earlier once we start getting a lot of JnJ shots. Novavax may largely miss the boat here.

I understand the rest of the world isn’t there, but we will be ready for kids soon. Reading that Pfizer will start trials with kids in the USA in June is much too late. Any news on the other pharmaceuticals?

Meanwhile, 81% of COVID deaths in the US are in those over 65. 2/3 of them have received at least 1 dose and over 35% are fully vaccinated.

As states start to include those over 50, we prevent 96% of deaths.
