I received my second Moderna dose this morning. The card the nurse gave me I will treat as gold. It is the CDC card that proves I received two shots. This will perhaps help me when I travel in the future overseas or to Canada to show to the immigration authorities. For now, I just feel very fatigued and right arm pain which is similar side effects from the first shot. Good luck to all and the shots are all worth it! I will continue to mask up properly.

Out here in Florida many counties are opening up the the vaccines to anyone who wants one after 3pm daily. Once the reservations are all filled and used many places have extra doses to give out so they open it up on the 1st come 1st serve basis. My coworker went yesterday healthy 30 year old got his dose and since he got his he was able to schedule his 2nd dose...... Sounds like by the end of the summer everyone should be able to have one.. I am just excited I was able to get mine on Monday and ready for my 2nd one in March.
I really like this idea. I do not like the thought of vaccines going to waste as I'm sure many are right now.

In Oregon in Jan 2021 a truck carrying the Covid vaccine got stuck in bad weather on the interstate. Instead of letting the doses expires, the RNs started vaccinating the drivers in theIr cars stuck on the interstate also. Great thinking!

Here is some real-world data from Israel: 602,000 people received the Pfizer vaccine. Only 608 tested positive during the weeks after dose 2 compared to over 20,000 people in a control group of about 500,000 people. Only 21 required hospitalization. This level of protection would end the pandemic. It’s better protection than we have against flu and we can live without masks during flu season, typically.

I feel.like this is an initiation process I have to go through regarding me getting the second Moderna shot yesterday morning. When I asked the RN yesterday she said the side effects hit her after 12 hours when she received her 2nd shot . Now after more than 12 hours, my fatigue has intensified and frequent headaches. I am going to wrap myself under several blankets in bed, riding this one out, forcing myself to eat and drink plenty of fluids. The RN said she got through it w/ Tylenol.

Sounds like a plan, sleep as much as you can while your body works on production

Yup my sister had an appointment yesterday for her vaccine she received hers and her husband drover her and waited until the end to see if they had extras they did they had over 70 extra doses so he got his and they offered vaccines to anyone who wanted one including staff. This is a great way to eliminate waste as well as get more folks vaccinated.

I would suggest anyone in Central Florida who wants a vaccine and cannot get one to find out where they are doing vaccines to go over to these locations and at the end see if they have extras.

Good to know I will get my 2nd dose on 3/15 so I will prepare for my side effects. I did have the arm pain 5-6 hours after the shot and the next day was much worse (like I had not worked out my arm in 10 years and then decided to lift weights) the next day it was gone...

There is a term the media coined for these people. They are called vaccine hunters. Vaccines don't go to waste and more are vaccinated! That is a win-win.

I hope all predictions are not true because there will be back to normal after all people got vaccine by end of summer/end of the year or 2022. J&J may be approved by next month or April along with other vaccines getting approved very soon. I can't stand waiting longer for delaying general public for everyone from April to May/June, if there was no more delaying by next month then April will might still going to general public for everyone for their vaccines soon.

Unless something is very wrong with the data, J&J will be recommended for emergency authorization on the 26th at the advisory committee meeting scheduled for that day, and receive authorization likely in March 1 or 2.

My second Moderna vaccine gave me a fever over 101 and sent my blood sugar to nearly 300 where it stubbornly stayed for about 10 hours.

Ibuprofen helped the fever and chills.

Insulin, however, failed to do much for the blood sugar. I’ve seen other Type 1s report similar blood sugar issues, however, we’re rare enough that it’s not captured as a side effect. Anyway any type 1s out there perhaps should consider shopping for Pfizer if at all possible.

My Mom suggested I create accounts with CVS, Walgreens and a local pharmacy chain, Kinney Drugs. I did that and I downloaded the apps for those places. So, when I can sign up for my shot, I have my sign in info handy.

Smart—just remember to immediately cancel any extra appointments if you schedule through one and find an earlier appointment through another.

This was not widely reported—we’ve been relying on surveys to determine how many are likely to take the shot, but yesterday, the Department of Defense announced that in the armed forces, vaccine acceptance is occurring in 2/3 of our service-men and -women. They also noted that mirrors the acceptance rate among all Americans. Further outreach is necessary, but 66% combined with the presumption that about 1/3 of us have had the virus, which would increase the percentage of us with immunity to ~77%, is good news.

Many places in the Orlando area are telling folks to come and hang out incase they get folks who do not show up. We had a few places locally that did waste doses in the beginning thus the reason why they are telling folks to come and wait and see what they have available left. It's great for folks that have time to wait, again I am just glad to do my part and get mine and hope that we have a return to normal by the end of the year 1st of 2022.

Unless vaccines will go faster by end of summer instead end of the year.

So, here's the baseline expectation on shipping of doses I got so far. (All in Millions)

I'm assuming that for PFZ and MOD to meet their May goals of 200, and then another 100 by July, I'm putting them down for 50 each for every month starting in Feb.

I'm assuming that for J&J, they'll start out low and ramp up to meet their goal of 100 by July.

This assumes that J&J can't ramp up any faster and that neither AZ nor NOV will come into the mix.

This is doses delivered. Give it another two weeks to get into arms.

So that's means we will might go back to normal by late summer or fall instead 2022?

You'll have to define 'normal'.

There will still be children not vaccinated yet, and people with medical conditions that can't be vaccinated at all. Masks and distancing may go on for a month or two past July.

There may be a variant strain that requires a booster.

If we get cases really low, then states can do the contact tracing they were supposed to have done and quarantine a few pockets to kill off infections in large areas.

The rest of the world will be months behind us.
