The anti-vax crowd won’t have their mind‘s changed no matter what. We just have to accept that a certain percent of the people will never get the vaccine. We don’t need 100% participation but we probably need 80%+ to ensure herd immunity. Less could get us there eventually too but it will take longer. What worries me is some of the stats from the polls, especially the ones showing a huge political bias. That’s unacceptable. There’s no reason that the vaccine should be a partisan issue. Are people happy living like this? Is it really worth it to prolong the pandemic for political gain? That‘s not conceivable to me but I know others think differently. I’m just struggling with understanding it.

I think a lot of these people believe that the virus is being exaggerated and that we should just go back to life as it was, so a vaccine isn't needed to get us they. I guess they believe if they convince enough people of this it will happen. I have a few Facebook friends who think like this and it's hard to reason with them.

The anti vax crowd better rethink their foreign travel plans if they wish to visit another country. And it is legal in the future for a private employer to enforce company policy that staff be vaccinated.

The anti-vaxxers I’ve seen are incredulous of that. They’ll say things like, “there’s no way it is legal for cruise lines to mandate vaccines!!!11” when it absolutely is.

Yeah! That would be something!

We changed our April 2021 trip to June 2021 because we thought it was too “soon”
Now June looks shaky

Jambo is our home resort and really will be empty and not the same without The Mara and Boma.
Last March David’s provided trip credits for our early May2020 trip. We chose to run it back for May2021 thinking that things would be better and WDW would be back, while crowds would be low. Welp, we just might be right (LUCKY!), I’d like a few more things to be open and menus at restaurants back to the usual.

Ooooh June is so borderline...we also plan to go in June but will be happy with whatever we are able to do; expect the worst and hope for the best and all that.

I’m just hoping the Peoplemover is open. Which is not a Covid thing.

Yes....we pretty much feel the same. Waiting as long as we can if we have to cancel.
The good part of that is we also have a November trip booked at Jambo 2 weeks. (Had to cancel a 2020 2 week trip)

so...June doesn’t happen, I’ll be here in 8 months wondering in November is too soon.

we were lucky enough to get first covid shot...just being in the right place at the right time...second one is next week.
NOT that THAT gives any false sense of security...we ALL have to get it to make it work!

and I have people in my no so immediate family that still believe you get chipped with vaccine. Soo....there’s that

The political bias is strange. Even though Trump downplayed the virus and the precautions that needed to be taken, he was a big supporter of the vaccine and it was developed while he was in office, so it's strange to see more interest from Democrats then Republicans.

Sorry to take this in a political direction, but it is interesting and an important thing to understand if we want to get enough people vaccinated.

There is a political thread for this. Might want to take this there. I really don't want 2 political threads on this as sometimes it angers me to read about how this was political. If one is unbiased it would be easy to see how sides fell though.

Same on peoplemover

We plan to go in June. WL is expected to be open then which means it should nearly be back to normal for the resort with food options I'd think. If not hey better than nothing. It will be okay though and by then at least my spouse should also be vaccinated with something.

Yeah I lucked into my first dose already and my wife who is 1a here gets her second this week, so we’re looking around like, should we just take the kids and go ASAP? I have a hunch by June it might be pretty busy

It’s a tough call. Ride lines could actually be shorter in June even with much larger crowds if they reduce or eliminate distancing requirements on ride vehicles. Of course the flip side of that is if they don’t reduce ride capacity limits enough by then the lines will be much longer since crowds will almost certainly be larger. The other aspect is what‘s available. They are bringing more and more restaurants back online and several resorts are due to reopen by early summer. We just got Tom Sawyer Island and the River Boat back and there’s talk of Lion King and Fantasmic being back by summer too. No clue when fireworks or night shows are back, but work continues on the new show at EPCOT.

I can see an argument made for going now and for waiting until Summer. The only way to be sure you make the right choice is to go now and again in the summer ;););)

If they were selling APs I’d consider it!

Weekly update:

1/24/21: 21,848,655 total, 18,502,131 first doses
1/31/21: 31,123,299 total, 25,201,143 first doses
2/7/21: 41,210,937 total, 31,579,100 first doses

10,087,638 doses in a week, 1.441 million doses per day (up from 9,274,644 doses in a week, 1.325 million doses per day)
6,377,957 new first doses, 0.911 million per day (down from 6,699,012 new first doses, 0.957 million per day)

Did not see those extra doses materialize in the weekly count, but there was a large blizzard in the northeast that closed many sites for two days (and it‘s snowing again today, with more snow forecast Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday...screw you, February).

We're heading out the 1st of the month before all schools are out but not Memorial Day week. Usually not bad. My husband has had no luck with no shows yet. I was vaccinated a few months ago. Doubt teens will be ready by June but we'll see.

I’m impressed we did 1.5M shots today considering it’s a Sunday...Super Bowl Sunday and there was another winter storm in the Northeast.

We didn’t. Those are numbers reported by 6 am today and some states only report 1x per week, which is why it is better to compare week-to-week.
