The silver lining is they'll probably go cheap on the retheme and just do new programming and music (like the Vacation Hoedown or the holiday version) rather than altering any of the physical setup, so at least they'll be able to change it back to the real thing someday after this flops.
Unfortunately that’s just it…when this flops (and it WILL-just think of Tiki UNM) and it will give them the excuse to just kill it altogether.

Gonna miss the inappropriate jokes.
No kidding - I've got an album from the Firehouse Five Plus Two band that played at Disneyland (led by Ward Kimball and some of the other Disney Imagineers) that had several, great, inappropriate jokes. Even a mild curse... on a Disneyland record!!

I'm gonna disagree and say that I actually liked it better when the expectation was that CBJ was going to be axed entirely, at when this is the alternative. Having the bears still there but singing some stupid, irrelevant Disney songs is a giant middle finger to the attraction's fans.
Usually TWDC is bashed for shoe horning IP into attractions…here they’re going to shoe horn Disney music IP into an attraction

Well said! Baseball was once the most popular sport, but many people today wouldn’t watch a game if it was free. Not to say that Baseball isn’t a good sport, it’s just that things that were once popular may not always be popular. Football is extremely popular now, but that isn’t because it’s necessarily better! Sure, it’s different! Many people find it more entertaining to watch, be one couldn’t really say one is better than the other.
Is it as great as its heyday? No. But there's still a baseball team in every state, still a league and still games. Just look at the NBA Experience at Disney Springs even with the NBA going strong they couldn't get that thing to fly.

But the Country Bears... is art and still one of Walt's last visions (even if not implemented himself)

I get the IP Fatigue thing. Then again Walt had the birds in Tiki Room sing "High Ho" as you leave. To me Country Bears singing about Bear necessities is a natural fit and doesn't seem as forced.
I've got 0 problem with "limited callbacks" to IP - singing "High Ho" for exit music or even a few quips to other IP in the shows (I vaguely recall MuppetVision having some to during the preshow but can't recall offhand). It's making the entire show about other Disney IP that's the issue.

Yeah, The Sun Bonnet Trio used to look like this.

But was changed to this a decade or two ago for WDW.

WOW - any idea what the reason for the change was? (maybe re-engineering the head mechanics so they needed new faces?)

Rizzo shows up dressed as Mickey Mouse at some point during the Pre-Show. Mickey himself is also in MuppetVision itself.

That one song I’d agree with you. A whole show of it featuring several modern era songs? That’s a different story.
Wow! Ok I did not realize this was the case. That is lame in the sense that all the nighttime spectaculars have already turned into Disney karaoke. I thought it was supposed to be popular country music songs but they had Bear Necessities in there too.

If it was that, I would've approved of it but nah. This is an extremely lame attempt to keep the bears relevant.

It is like Weird AL vs Richard Cheese. Richard Cheese is a guy who arranges heavy rock songs or profane rap into jazzy lounge versions. It is a novelty and fun for a listen but you don't often want a whole set of it. It gets a little repatative as a novelty and then wears off.

Weird AL has parodies, original style with influences of genres. That is the Country Bear Jamboree. It is Zany but sincere to itself.
This new show sounds like the Richard Cheese Approach.

The joke of this is a country version of showtune will get older faster than a folksy fun song based variety show.

The plan isn't to kill the attraction. They are going to even update the audio animatronics in the show, they wouldn't do that if they were intent on killing the show.
They wouldn’t huh? Ok…I never said they were intent on killing the show…what I said was if this retheme doesn’t have the success they’re anticipating, that could give them the chance of closing it down altogether. They can say, “Well we tried, we’re not going to spend more money on it”…
