Couldn't believe what I saw tonight!

I agree with the hatter some people on these boards look for any little mishap at the parks so they can bash disney. It was a simple mistake by an employee at a workplace not the beginning of the end for disney. I'm pretty sure upper management had nothing to do with it. Back to the original OP i'm also pretty sure it did not ruin anybody else's day if they even noticed.

Thank you.

Just got back from the Magic Kingdom and saw a huge error made tonight. Went to the dance party in Tomorrow Land and there was Chip dancing in the crowd with everyone, when next thing I saw was Chip & Dale came out onto the stage with the DJ, we now have 2 Chips in the same place. The error was spotted and the Chip in the crowd made a hasty exit, not before nearly tripping over!
One of the funniest things I've read in a while.

Agreed, one incident is not the be all end all. People on both sides of that argument will see what they want to see to support their point though.

Here's the way I see it: a character, their handler, or whoever coordinates that show (I'm not privvy to how that chain of command is set up) goofed, in what could have been a serious way. Disney definitely doesn't need to be dealing with that kind of negative PR should someone open their mouths loud enough about it. I doubt Walt would have been very happy if he was around to see it either. Whoever was responsible for that should be disciplined.

You're doing a show for one of the most recognizable brands ever, take it up a level.

Agreed. And yet, mistakes still happen. Not sure the point of this thread.

The one in the crowd was 'Chale", second cousin, two or three times removed to Chip and Dale. (Although there is a very strong family resemblance there) He isn't a star and relatively unknown so he was out in the crowd, possibly capitalizing on his cousins (two or three removed) fame and fortune. They have had to "talk" with him about that kind of thing in the past.

This should not happen. I agree. No doubt about it.

But if it has to happen, Chipmunks are good. We already have more than one. If a kid is old enough to notice this, but young enough to be confused by it (a small group!), it could easily be explained as Chip and Dale's cousin Marvin.

As far as Disney management goes, it was an error. Someone needs to learn how to distribute characters in the park. It can't be that damned hard. Fix it.

But fix it and move on. On the lists of whups, this goes in the "Very Little Whups" column. :)

Management had NOTHING to do with this. They distributed them (in this case) properly. Chip's friend 1 (CF1 (I think "CF" is appropriate for this scenario)) is out 12:00-12:30. CF2 is ready to go out once CF1 has returned at 12:30. It works fine on paper, and, if everyone is doing their job right, it works fine in practice.
Again, this was purely the fault of a few front-line CMs and management can't be blamed for it. At all.

Hmmm I'm assuming SOP should be for Chip to "tag" out but you would know more than I. I disagree about it being managements fault though. If you are going to do B2B on a dance party there needs to be a procedure. Last I was there there were FOUR handlers at the party. If that level of staffing can't prevent it, mgmt is direlict for not taking appropriate action, union or no.

Or, they could do what DCA does, have 14-16 unique characters-with half as many guests. Better planning equals no risk of integrity issues plus more safety for the performers. What I saw there was an accident waiting to happen, Brazilians pawing at the chipmunks, handlers off doing god knows what. An integrity lapse wasn't so bad.

And we had what, 4 sets of damn chipmunks in the park on NYE? Really?

Oh how funny. I would have enjoyed just watching the tripp'n Chipmunk scurrying off stage. I love secondary entertainment. Always great for a giggle and a different memory than most have, good for you for spotting it.

haha do kids even know who Chip and Dale are anymore?!

Sure the kids know who Chip and Dale are, they are about a great deal, who kids are clueless about is Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy, Pluto and Goofy. When Disney imploded Toon area those marque characters really got watered down in the MK.

I'll agree that Cali does it better with having more unique characters. Florida could learn a LOT from their older little brother. But how does this keep getting back to management? If a bus boy at Chili's spills ranch on your Dockers, you don't blame management, you blame a one-time fluke on the individual's part. I've been around characters a LOT, and this is the first double-exposure I've even HEARD of. At Disney anyways...

I've always thought about this, for example when the castle stage show begins or the parade at 3 starts do the meet and greets with Mickey and friends/Princesses at Storybook Circus and the Town Square theatre close?
