Could they repaint TTC or remodel it please?

The TTC is splendid architecture. The EPCOT line, and even the Ferry, detract slightly, but a gem still. I too would love to see it restored. There is a unity of style with the monorail, the Contemporary, Tomorrowland, even the rest of the MK, although such subtleties are not appreciated, one gets the impression. And yet it is what uplifts WDW from the gaudy, forgettable lesser theme park environment.

The 90's clutter is a joke. Super happy fun girly colours. Junk, from the worst generation of WDW designers.
This. A splendid design, overlayed by a design team out of kindergarten.

Be careful what you ask for. At least there was "a design". And that it occurred post 1982, it is probably one of the most recent uses of "design" anywhere on WDW property. Simply repainting with a new color scheme would not seem to fix the stale feeling.

I'm all for keeping the architecture. It could really use some simple beautification.

The colors and signage are horrific. The heros and villains parking is a pathetic attempt at some sort of relevancy or what their idea man might have called "edgieness".

Woohhhhhh.

I miss the tram jokes when you could barely keep your eyes open at the end of a long day.

If your Grumpy step out to the left, if your Bashful don't be please step out to the right. We all just wanna go home.

Scar just doesn't have the same charm. I guess I've lost the plot.
What when did they stop the tram jokes? What was the joke for Dopey and Sleepy?

You got your teal v. orange and your purple v. yellow. All that's left is tomato soup red v. avocado for the 90's trifecta of opposite and clashing colors. We're missing confetti bangs and small random dots.

"The Ticketing Center is very clean, though."

"It's certainly uncontaminated by tickets."
Wishful thinking but wouldn't it be perfect if they redesigned the area closer to WDW's 50th Anniversary?

I only drive black/black cars for the past 19 years.. I don't like multi colored floral arrangements.. I have to buy the same brand of hangers because I can't stand if they are even a slight variation in shade..I hate 'tacky' clothing-My kid never had the colorful busy character shirts as a baby, toddler, or now..I can't eat at Citricos bc the floors and chairs would make me lose my appetite...( I have the same concern with 1900 PF, but I am going to suffer though that one for the characters.) I can completely understand when someone feels that something looks tacky..bc I know how crazy I am.

But the TTC? Really? You're either arriving to head to a park, or you're coming back after a day in the parks. I don't even think I've ever paid attention to the color scheme. How do you even have time to think about it?

I mean sure, lets excuse bad design choices because who cares? Honestly now that they close the Monorails from 11am until 6pm you have to spend up to 45 minutes in queue for a Ferry Boat or a bus in this area... For many guests this is their first impression of the entire resort, and it is one of the worst looking theme park areas in Orlando. It would just be nice if they could at least make it look like a proper intro to Walt Disney World resort. Especially since they haven't updated the look of the place in almost 25 years.

I'm saying that I think there are other areas that should be redesigned first..namely the 2 restaurants that I mentioned. They are hideous in my opinion, much worse than bright colors at the TTC

While we're complaining:

They could redo the Epcot monorail station, too.

The TTC is very utilitarian, to me. It seems like it should be more of a "Welcome Center" kind of atmosphere (not rest area / side of the road kind of Welcome Center).

Epcot's station is huge. Look at it on Google Earth. It's a monster! It goes too far off in the other direction and the 1980s architecture doesn't help.

On second thought it is kind of a dumb idea to update the TTC since the monorails are either out of service or broken down as often as they are anyway.

Why spend the money, right?

I'm not sure I'd call TTC "classic" design by any means.... The 1970s were a rough decade for modern architecture, and while some of it has aged relatively well (e.g. the Contemporary), much more of it hasn't, IMO. The TTC falls in that latter camp for me. Even with the garish 90s stuff stripped away, the flat expanses of raw gray concrete and bare metal guardrails don't exactly create a memorable design experience, despite the good intentions of its original designers.

I'd be in the camp of trying to do some sort of overhaul of the whole TTC, even if in the "Micktorian" style (the abundance of this around WDW doesn't bother me really). Some brick or masonry-tiled pathways, with some wrought iron signage and guardrails here and there, might be a simple and quick change which would add warmth to the place and help the station visually connect to the Magic Kingdom across the lake.

Alternatively, Disney could try and play up the current station's architecture and try to enliven it with some 1970s-style graphics and aesthetics. Retro 70s seems to be a selling point now, looking at WDW merchandise.

It's tough though, because there's no way the current ramps are ADA compliant, and a significant renovation may require them to be rebuilt up to code. With those ramps apparently made of solid concrete, a major overhaul may be impossible for that reason alone.

Regardless of what they do though, the bad 90s graphics need to go. It's embarrassing on Disney's part for the current TTC to be the "front door" for so many of the resort's visitors.

I have but one question. Who gets to decide what is or what is not a bad design? Is there some specific assignment given out at birth that entitles one to be absolutely correct about something that is abstract by nature? You may not like it because of personal tastes, but, that, in and of itself, does in no way mean that it is bad design. It just means that you don't like it. But, again not an overly important thing anyway, so we can move on.

I didn't even really pay the design of the TTC attention until now. Wouldn't refurbishing it cause a lot of chaos and crowding, though, seeing as most guests pass through there to get to MK? But if you're going to redo it, I think maybe a Paris Metro look might work. Or maybe more topiaries, maybe even some colorful statues like the kind at the All Star resorts (not necessarily giant ones). Or a Mickey Mouse motif, maybe not-so-hidden Mickey patterns, like with these cool benches I photographed in the plaza between Disneyland and California Adventure.
