Could it Be? (EO returning to EPCOT)

That's easy. The DDP.

Your thoughts?

Agreed. And we've used it (and liked it).
This last trip we tallied receipts. DDP is a GREAT value for your 3-9 year old, no doubt. Overall, 2 adults and a child, we saved about $100 not being on the plan, but didn't eat the same. No breakfasts, off property for 2 dinners - but DID do Le Cellier, Norway's RDH Princess dinner and California Grill.

Anyway, I digress (but am now ed about not being able to get good dining reservations, thanks a lot :D)

Back to EO still shouldn't come back...

Man, I sure wish I could find a couple of videos of the EO tribute on YouTube. You'd think there would be some by now... ;)
The main show as 2D 4:3 and 21:9 source are out there, as are 2 different lengths of the making of docu.

Yea it should. It was successful at DL, it would be successful at WDW.

As someone who would have liked it to come back, I'm going to say no.

It sounds as thought DLR essentially got "EO Lite", meaning the show with none of it's original in theatre effects and only 2 new ones and basically didn't do much to change the HISTA look of the facility. Not to mention using a print from an unresorted master who's quality is apparently questionable.

I doubt the average tourist would be impressed by such things, and I think the Disneyland fans would be more forgiving of the show's flaws. Had the 2 new effects been used with ugrdaed versions of the originals along with a resortaion done to the master and the audio improvments (which did happen) it probably would have been a good show to both the "average joe" and EPCOT Center fans.

If it were to come in it's current form to WDW, there's no doubt in my mind that we'd find ways to complain about it. I mean the show itself, not the star.

They should probably just sell the merch here.

Your thoughts?

At first blush, I'd agree with you.

Yet, a quick and dirty rehash of a ____***y and ancient attraction does speak to the apparent continued shortsightedness of the organization as a whole. And in the king's crown jewel park, no less, and not at the red-headed stepchild park.

In the final accounting the DDP sucks more due to its overall craptastic impact. Captain EO is just the latest symptom of the continuing disease. But boy, does it suck.

Don't they always? :rolleyes::lol:

I'd be fine with it, effects or not.

Catching up after pages and pages of posts, my thoughts on EO/Imagination in general:

I am somewhat indifferent about EO's return to WDW. I was always too busy to see it in person back in the day (riding Imagination over and over seemed like a better way to spend my time), so I don't really have that attachment to it. I have seen it since, and can see it anytime I want thanks to modern technology, so there is no real desire for me to see it in person.

So, going back a few pages I think Martin's comments about EO's return having a major effect on the future of the pavilion are true. And given the resorts history it would not surprise me if when it came back TDO would consider the pavilion good for another 5 years, which is worst-case-scenario IMO. I will take a different Imagination pavilion over a different film any day.

Add to that my grand scheme of using the theater space as part of the new Imagination ride/preshow/postshow (best-case-scenario) I would be really happy if no film goes in that theater.

Also, while I think the trackless technology used in TDL's Pooh ride is quite amazing, I don't really want it used for Imagination. Now, I have never ridden it in person and my opinion of the system is based purely on recorded video, but it looks like all that freedom that the ride vehicles enjoy requires quite a bit of open space. I would rather not sacrifice show space for open space, even if it meant a new ride system. Perhaps if they extended the ride into the theater, but not if they end up using the current (40% smaller than original) show space.

You know what I want to return?

Makin' Memories Tribute.

Still a great song.

:sohappy: Love that song! On my top 25 most played on my iPod.

True Colors was nice...With the dog and all.

Even though I know the kid is going to find his dog, it still upsets me everytime!

I don't know...my only memories of EO is it scaring the crap out of me and my Dad yelling at me to put my glasses back on the whole time. My feelings on it returning are kind of 'meh'.
And did this picture freak anyone else out when they saw it? It startled me.....:lookaroun

I don't get why so many are arguing against EO returning.

I get that its old, and that this would just be a nostalgia based return. But my retort is: So what? At least there are people out there wanting to see EO again. I rarely hear anyone saying "man, I got a HISTA itch that I just gotta scratch today!" I would make a special trip to O-town just to see EO, and I bet there are many others who would too. I doubt there are as many willing to make the pilgrimage to see Rick Moranis again.

I agree with you. I mean, they're returning the old and dated MSEP and people all are like "Yeah," but EO is a different story. I think it should be added for the summer nightastic. People who think its old and dated and doesnt belong there can simply not go. I'm sure the theater would be full with others wanting to see the show, something you cant really say for HISTA.

The differance is that MSEP is a Great parade, EO was NOT a good 3D show.

If you wanna see dead people come back then watch Ghost Whisperers on TV.:zipit::lol:

I think that what we've learned here in this thread is how dare they not bring back past attractions and that all past attractions suck.

Wait, what?
