Heading for the great escape.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be
I sure wish The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy had been the smash hit that Disney had hoped it would become, so we'd probably have that 3-D movie now and this would all be moot.
I'm just glad you didn't follow this up with, "If I wanted to see dead people I'd go into my basement."
Nostalgia is not what it used to be
The differance is that MSEP is a Great parade, EO was NOT a good 3D show.
If you wanna see dead people come back then watch Ghost Whisperers on TV. :zipit::lol:
It comes with a price tag now.

Oh man, there you go. That please. Maybe make it a Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
I just wish they'd make it a 3-D Fireball film. Drossel is a huge hit (For Otaku) in Japan, and her Figma sold out and the price to get her now is rising. Not to mention Trading Figures, Nendoroid, and a Second Season on the way.
Toei Animation and Disney present: FIREBALL 3-D only at Tokyo Disneyland, EPCOT Center, and Disneyland!
Yes, because nothing says EPCOT Center hope and optimism like dining at Milliways, around a planetary destructive rock star legally declared dead for tax purposes, having a sentient cow beg you to pick him to make your steak out of, and watching the Universe collapse. Maybe they should build the Big Bang Burger Bar instead.
Oh, lord... :dazzle:
Oh, you have absolutely no idea how much I wish this were true. Yeah, I know where my towel is.DarthGrady said:YES! Theres the new use for the Odyssey! Its gonna be Milliways! That would rule in ways that have not even been discovered yet. The waiters could be dressed as Vogons, and they could serve "So long, and thanks for all the fish-sandwiches". It could be a dinner and show deal, with the end of the universe on the hour. Kinda like that once-awesome place that had New Years every night.......
FixedI just wish they'd make it a 3-D Gurren Lagann film.
Oh, lord... :dazzle:

Digging up a thread a month old here, but I thought this might be interesting to some folks...
Al Lutz mentioned the big popularity of Captain EO at Disneyland this winter/spring and offered some interesting statistics in his latest Miceage update on Tuesday;
"Inside Disneyland, its business as usual this spring with big, happy crowds defying any hint of recession outside the gates. Captain EO has proven to be the hit TDA was hoping for this winter, as the daily attendance at the theater attraction maxes out its capacity nearly every day. Instead of hosting an average of 1,500 to 2,500 total visitors on busy days when it was Honey I Shrunk The Audience, Captain EO has been consistently turning in viewership figures around 15,000 or 16,000 per day, most noticeably with the teens and 20’s demographic." -Al Lutz, Miceage
As a West Coaster, I can attest to the big crowds and popularity of Captain Eo even six weeks after it opened. Last weekend I went with friends and the theater was full with lots of CM's working the attraction and trying to fill every available seat for each show.
I've seen SoCal teens at my local mall wearing Captain EO t-shirts, so it's obviously a trendy thing with the kids who were in diapers when this show left Disneyland 13 years ago.
Bringing Captain EO back has been a smart move for Disneyland during an off year when no other new ride is opening, and you have to wonder what the reaction would have been in Orlando if TDO had the same guts that TDA has.

I doubt this is the case. The attitude of Southern Californian locals who visit Disneyland and the tourists who visit Walt Disney World are totally different. Disneyland has a mostly local following, and MJ is more popular there, whereas Walt Disney World has a different audience. Its visitors are less locals but more tourists and families that come once a year or so. MJ isn't as popular with that demographic, so TDO must consider the consequences of not only taking a people-eating attraction offline for a month or two, modifying the theater, then hoping the decades-old attraction is popular and merchandise sales are comforting (which they probably won't be.)
