Can we see those numbers and the source, please?

There were people tweeting around 4:30-5:00 that there was absolutely no line for it.

I had seen similar reports- primarily that there were huge lines for the morning premiere, but that by mid- to late-afternoon they were pretty mild. I'd love to know what they were like later in the evening though...

Maybe the head honchos at WDW will hear and see this and add eo as apart of this years summer nightastic. I hope so because if WDW can get an old dated parade back with open arms, why cant it get back a 3d show?

Because the old dated parade is actually very good, and the old dated 3D show is not very good.

Is there EO merch out in Epcot?

If our old friend Phantom is right, and merchandising is really flying off the shelves at DL because of the revival, I would expect TDO to do an abrupt about face any day now.

Day 1 merchandise will always fly. You have a very eager, hardcore fan base ready to buy anything and everything.

Well the numbers are in and Captain EO was a GIGANTIC sucess. Disney made far more money in merchandise sales than they expected today. TDA is being rewarded for listening to fans.

Meanwhile WDW is still boring.

To quote Yogurt
"Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the movie is made. Spaceballs-the T-shirt, Spaceballs-the Coloring Book, Spaceballs-the Lunch box, Spaceballs-the Breakfast Cereal, Spaceballs-the Flame Thrower"

Of course Merchandise is flying off the shelves it was the first day.. Give it a few weeks..Some people will buy any and everything. So the merchandise was a success does that mean that the Captain Eo was a success? Sure we know the lines were log at the beginning of the day but did they keep up that pace throughout the day?

I'm just sayin', if they were on the fence, and theatre conversion costs were there big hang up (like Al says), it wouldn't surprise me. I'm not predicting it, or saying it will happen.

But I would easily drop a gentleman's wager right now that there will be EO test merchandise out in Epcot within a week or 2.

I kind of get the feeling this was just as much a present to the DL APers as was a tribute to Jackson. All signs show this as being a very limited run.

I don't think any ammount of merch sales or attendance will bring it to EPCOT.

I'd be surprised if EO merchandise wasn't available online soon. I just don't think that translates to the show being in FL.....

That would be hysterical.

*hope this happens and TDO does not look at the fanbase influence*

Here is an interview with Tony Baxter (they also talk very briefly about bringing back JII)

"Anything is possible."

And then he goes right into talking about 3D attractions and nothing about Imagination. Ha, I'm sure he wouldn't talk about it even if he knew something was happening.

It's great he was asked that, though. Tony seems like a real cool guy.

Yay for asking him about JII! I hope that everyone who interviews him asks. Keeps it percolating... and ensures that he knows how much people loved his creation in the first place.

I asked him about it last September and he kind of smiled and said that (paraphrasing) he thought that maybe the potential of Figment and the pavilion's concept weren't being fully utilized...

It gave me hope, at least. I framed the question as, "Is JII something that's on anyone's radar or has that ship sailed?" so as to allow him the possibility of giving me a definite no. I was very pleased that he did not do so.
