The number of breakthrough cases is directly related to the overall community spread. Even at 95% efficacy if there are 70,000 new cases a day 3,500 will be breakthrough. Back when there were only 5,000 cases a day then only 250. With delta it appears the efficacy against symptomatic infection drops into the 80s so at 88% efficacy with Florida having 100,000+ cases a week 12,000 will be breakthrough infections. It’s likely that with that level of community spread most people will know someone or multiple someones who had a breakthrough infection. There are a fair number of breakthrough Delta cases. I am one of those right now unfortunately.
There are not a lot of serious breakthrough cases and almost none in the ICU or worse.
