My bad.

Yeah phase 2 should happen any day now.
I was wondering if they skip phase 2 and leapfrog to 3. It was supposed to be 70% vaccinated but they left the 14 day percent positive under 5% loophole in there which is technically hit. Will they just say right to phase 3 based on CDC guidance and percent positive?

The “mah freedom” crowd aren’t the only people not vaccinated. That’s the whole point. 20% of people say they won’t get the vaccine no matter what. That’s that crowd and it’s 60-70M people so not insignificant, but there are even more people who are unvaccinated that aren’t in that crowd. They have various reasons they didn’t get vaccinated yet. The key to getting to 70-80% vaccinated is reaching those people. Assuming they are all just in the mah freedom crowd isn’t helping.
It's why I still maintain they should have set a national goal of 70% of people vaccinated before the CDC recommends dropping of masks. It would help get some of those people on the fence to get vaccinated. I just the new messaging goes against that. Seeing businesses dropping mask mandates already will push some on the fence to not get vaccinated cause what's the point.

So, has everyone absolved the CDC of its sins?

EDIT: Oh, I see demands have still not been met.
This should have happened weeks ago.
Which business would you patronize?

A business that advertises:

"MASKS OR NO MASKS EVERONE WELCOME!"
(I actually saw a business in Holmes county Ohio have this sign last fall)

Or a business that advertises:

"ONLY THOSE VACCINATED OR THOSE WEARING A MASK ARE PERMITTED IN THIS BUSINESS"
Just curious.... Not a 'trick' question.
The one that has what I need, at the best price, and is the most convenient.

I don't know - maybe not getting COVID?

Now with the mask mandates being relaxed before the majority are vaccinated gives me little hope. It's why I like the goal that has been set out here. No loosening of restrictions til the majority of the whole country is vaccinated. Having so many pockets with low vaccination rates keeps Covid around longer then it needs to be.
I can't help but to have developed a cynical view on this. I think they realized that herd immunity/70%+ wasn't going to statistically happen nearly quickly enough, if at all, the way things are going, so they have changed the messaging in a last ditch effort to try to increase willingness for people to get the vaccine. I think people forget that the goal of the CDC is to handle the messaging to get people to behave how they want us to behave. The messaging is well-planned and coordinated - it was the White House announcement that was the most "slick" and clearly "marketing material" more than anything else.

That's really the only reason I can come up with for what changed between the beginning of the week to mid-week, given that we haven't even hit 50% vaccinations yet.

I don't know with the governors latest actions the phased approach doesn't have the teeth it use to. But if the Mayor had been consulting with local businesses and theme parks and they were on board with the approach, he could very well follow the current stages and make it a local "recommendation" instead of mandate.

I believe Mayor Demmings said phase 3 is when 50% of OC residents have been vaccinated.

That should be today.

OC will probably drop outdoor masks any day now.
Today at 430pm he will be talking. My guess is he will announce phase 2.
When it comes to WDW, there's zero chance of them changing any mask guidelines before the county allows them.

My hope. No masks outside. Seeing a 2 year old in June wearing a mask as she waves to Cinderella from 30 feet away doesn't make me feel safe.

All things are def pointing to them getting rid of outdoor masks. The county today will def help that along.

IMO they should drop outdoor masks at resorts RIGHT NOW. Enough space outside at the resorts.

I never understood that. You're walking from the lobby at the Coronado to your room... and you need to wear a mask? I guess? Seems more like a simple "one size fits all approach"... minus the water parks... which still raises questions to me about masks outside. Buy that's a discussion for another time

You have way more faith in people then I do. The "mAH freedom" crowd doesn't give much hope. Now with the mask mandates being relaxed before the majority are vaccinated gives me little hope. That crowd is just, what's that hashtag they use.... Oh yes, they've just been #virtuesignaling since day one that they know better than anyone else. Or at least, anyone who disagrees with them. I'm also seeing a lot of #cancellation of those who seem to want to continue wearing masks, even those who have been vaccinated.

I'll still a Millenium Force guy. Though I also really like Steel Vengeance (which I've heard aptly described as a cross between Millenium Force and Maverick).
It’s on our list for next time. Did t get a chance last time due to being there for a soccer tournament not for cedar point itself.

I have a much more cynical view (imagine that). Businesses/corporations couldn't take another day of this, what's it called, 'security theater', so something had to give. Follow the money is my mantra.

So wierd seeing everyones reaction in most of the world where lockdowns are still in effect to some degree. Here in Florida i feel like it ended a year ago? Minus the mask inconvenience.
I'm in FL as well. Daily life won't change too much with this.......

But it is exciting to me. I see this as a huge step to declaring the pandemic over, which is awesome.
