Devil’s advocate: But America sure has a lot more in common with China than it wants to admit. This situation reminds me of the same suppression of whistleblowers that said country did at the start of the Pandemic.
This is totally not something that could even occur in Canada. Physicians are self regulated. Private healthcare reads like a foreign concept to me. The whole “hospital calling up a staff” to fire them, isn’t a thing. A hospital is a building, not a profit Centre and not a marketing firm.

Exactly what I was going to say. Hedge bets for at least the most vulnerable (LTC in particular), and theoretically get to the next group faster. However that is defined (essential workers, other adults over 60/65, whatever). Holding back but trusting that at least SOME of the manufacturing will hold.
I am of the overall opinion that “dumping” all 40M doses into the supply chain and hoping for the best could prove catastrophic. But it doesn’t need to be an even 50/50.

It really depends on what the expectations are for delivery. If we get 40 million doses and expect a second 40 million in time for the second dose, then you may want to hold back in case the second delivery is late. But on the other hand if you getting 10 million doses a week for 8 weeks, then you can give more first doses and scale back the first doses if they don't keep up with the 10 million a week.

The poster didn't get it at the airport or anywhere other than Disney? I wonder how someone would know with absolute certainty - was there contact tracing back to an employee or something?
Never mind, I found the post. It took him three separate trips to Disney since August in order to get it. I wonder if the poster did anything else risky.

I found the post. No details as to why the poster is claiming he or she got sick at Disney. I don't doubt the virus is spreading there - no reason to believe otherwise - but it's like people claiming food poisoning in that it's almost impossible to prove.Yeah, everyone knows COVID can't afford to go to Disney. Must have been somewhere else.

The airport / airplane would still be part of the Disney vacation.

Those are the same public health measures that Gov. Ron DeSantis has publicly assailed for months as ineffective. While he was making the case for no new business restrictions, DeSantis’ office refused to publicize reports from the task force which recommended a more robust public response.

Okay maybe no one would buy a swimsuit at Walmart but you get the idea.

Went to Disney World Orlando last week Thursday-Saturday and now Tuesday this week all the symptoms hit me hard. Went for test and I am Covid positive.
We live in Tampa and have been on 3 separate trips to Disney World since August and they have greatly increased capacity since August so this was a concern and almost kept us from going this trip. You are now in very long lines with no Fast Pass to skirt the crowds. Average wait times most rides 45-80 minutes standing in lines. We wore masks and constantly hand sanitized.
The highest risk at the parks from what I have observed in our 3 trips since August is I have never seen them santatizing any ride seats, ride handle bars or seat belts. These are constant high touch points. Someone gets off the ride and we hop right on where they sat and this is repeated 500+ times during the day and you now have your most likely place to come in contact with the virus.
Obviously no telling exactly where virus contact was. But do not let their park safety protocols give you a false sense of security.

Yeah, that’s the whole issue with traveling right now. If I’m local and I visit a Disney park for a few hours one day or even multiple days in a week or month that’s less problematic than traveling from out of state and staying for a week or even a long weekend. When you travel overnight like that you have multiple places outside of just time spent in the theme park itself where you could be exposed. Indoor locations, especially ones without masks are the most problematic and if you travel and stay overnight chances are you have to eat out for most or all of your meals. So while a Disney park may not be where you got sick it could be at a restaurant, at the hotel, on the bus from the park, at the airport, on the parking shuttle bus, etc... Lots of possible places.

I would assume he probably ate meals over 3 days as well and stayed in a hotel. Could have been any of those places.

All I’m saying is how does he know he got it at Disney? A person who takes three trips to WDW during the height of a pandemic may not be exercising the utmost of care in other aspects of his life as far as the virus is concerned. I don’t know from this post whether he got COVID at Disney. Maybe he did, maybe not.
