Probably because you don’t have an Arkansas...

Anyway...I’m not saying any such big store is very “altruistic”...and of course neither is Darth Bezos Death Star either
It’s funny y’all say that. The most downright sketchiest wal mart I have ever been to was in Canada, in Calgary to be exact. You even had to pay a Canadian coin to use the carts since there was so much theft

The vaccine was invented in January, before the first case in the US. Trump kept telling everyone to work faster on getting approval. What we really need is a faster testing and approval process. Trump pushed the limits to the breaking point but look at the number of people who died. Even Bill Gates says there has to be a way to approve vaccines faster because we were lucky the death rate on Covid19 is low. Imagine what could happed in the future if we have an easily spread virus with a high death. We can't wait a year to use a vaccine on these new viruses. Something has to be done or next time we will lose tens of million not hunreds of thousands. Give Trump credit but say we still need to do more.
I think you're confusion past research into mRNA with an effective vaccine. In January mRA were still considered pre-clinical.

Are you badmouthing my Walmart?!!? 😅

It’s actually more to force people to put their cart back and not leave it In the parking lot. But since cash pretty much isn’t a thing anymore, it definitely is a dying grocery store practice from 20 years ago. Which goes to show how outdated that Walmart was.

ive never been to a not sketchy Walmart.
When we lived in Scottsdale, we shopped at Walmart for groceries. It was definitely, not sketchy, lol.

We have one a mile from our house here in CO and it's the best one of the ones that are around us. I don't go in there very often. But I do go there for non-dairy ice cream / ice cream treats because they are way cheaper than our normal grocery store.

One option is ROTC, go to college for free , pray that no war happens during kid's service to the country.
I would be absolutely ok with my kids choosing to serve their country. That said, it is their choice and of the three, I can maybe see one choosing to, based on their current interests.

Using the coin is standard in Europe, although you get it back once you lock up the cart again.

You'll also notice in Europe that you don't see abandonned shopping carts lying in ditches, or drifting across the parking lot.

Its why I said it's really strange how people look at Walmart in Canada versus the US. In Canada for the most part Walmart is on the level of Target.
My Canadian wife and her family look at Walmart the same as in the US. Superstore, for some reason, occupies a higher niche.

Carrefour would be Europe's Walmart, but the food is really good.

You never went to the one on Turkey Lake by Universal? Carts have a locking wheel so you can't wheel them off property. Can be na very sketchy place but the one on OBT probably is the worst I have been in

To be fair, as the months of this pandemic have gone on, it's been said many times that the virus does not live on surfaces and is transmitted via droplets that are inhaled. Sanitizing and wiping down seats, handles, doorknobs, etc, is really nothing more than sanitation theater in most cases.

This is false. The virus absolutely can live on surfaces. True it is not a major method of transmission, but it is incorrect to say it cannot be transmitted that way. Should you be concerned about getting infected when typing in your pin at an ATM, probably not. Should you be concerned about getting infected when touching a lap bar that has been touched by hundreds of people without being cleaned, you should have at least some concern about that.

It could also be that surface transmission is being adequately controlled. It's not that confusing or difficult to wipe things down and wash hands. Keeping it out of the air has proven to be a lot more challenging.

I wash and sanitize a lot. If I use elevators or open doors I avoid touching these filthy surfaces by using my pants knee or cupping my jacket sleeve to open door to avoid touch to touch on my surface skin.

The Central Florida homeless have got panhandling down to a lucrative art form extracting money from people at commercial parking lots or at major traffic light intersections.

Donald Trump is yesterday’s news. The election is over and in about 40 days he can go back to the golf course and spend all day tweeting (actually not a big change for him anyway). We have to move on as a country and focus on the future. The vaccine is coming and it will get us out of this pandemic and can get us back to life as normal. I could give a rat’s behind who gets credit for it. It’s not relevant in any way to me. I do know this, in the last Gallup pole only 50% of Republicans said they would get the vaccine. That’s not good. If giving Donald Trump credit for the vaccine gets that number higher I’m all for it. I don’t care that the Pfizer vaccine was actually developed in Germany by a German bio tech company founded by 3 German billionaires with research funded by the German government. Call it the Trump vaccine and give him all the credit for inventing it if that gets that number up from 50%. We have to stop having this debate if it’s going to cause people to dig in and not get vaccinated. If that happens and we don’t get to herd immunity or delay the time it takes to get there that’s a terrible outcome for everyone. So I say just give Trump the credit now and get me back to life as normal.
There is a danger in not giving facts. For every Trumper wanting it to be Trumps vaccine there is someone who fears Trump and wants it not to be. Best to give facts. You'll win some and lose some no matter what. Sorry but it's dangerous to not be factual.

I did read somewhere recently that the 21 days isn’t firm and that if the booster was given a few weeks later it has no impact on effectiveness so I’d be OK with going with doing 40 million people first and then relying on the supply chain for the second doses. There are 21M healthcare workers and 3M LT care residents so I say at least do those 24M people first then hold back 16M doses for their second shot and use the first 8 million received in Jan to finish them off. Then you have that first group done by 2nd or 3rd week in Jan.
Even in the trials it was not exactly 21 days.

As for timing if Pfizer says give 100 million people shots and we'll give you proper 2nd dose I'd trust that more than anything else

Here in the Midwest we have a glorious alternative to Walmart, Meijer (pronounced My-er just like the hot dog brand with the weinermobile.)

It’s a family run company out of Michigan and it’s best described as a store with the selection of Walmart without any of the downsides. They also have a bigger selection of groceries then a typical Walmart.

I remember going to one when I was a kid. Nice store. They're in Sandusky, Ohio as well which I frequent yearly.

Apparently the best supermarket is Wegman's in upstate NY

You live in Calgary? Complaints about Walmart aside, I loved that city. Only spent two nights, non-consecutive. But one of the cleanest cities I’ve been too.
