What he said was this:
States with growing coronavirus outbreaks might not need to shut down again like many did in March, White House coronavirus advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said Tuesday.
Fauci specifically cited Texas, Arizona, Florida and other states with "a serious problem" as places that might need consider pausing or rolling back stages of reopening to cope with rising rates of coronavirus.
"I wouldn't necessarily say an absolute shutdown, lockdown, but if someone is going from gateway to phase one to phase two and they get into trouble in phase two, they may need to go back to phase one," Fauci said

The problem is most states are continuing full steam ahead with their leaders not rolling back a little or delaying openings. IMO they should do exactly what he said, it could save them for a complete disaster down the road.
florida is literally pausing moving to new phases, this concept of full steam ahead is just hysterics

Was just getting ready to reply to the same post and saw yours.
I haven’t seen one post, unless i missed it, that people are saying go back to lockdowns. Seems most on here are in 2 camps. Open most things up and have masks and social distancing in place, or the other side, states that are increasing, let’s pull back a little to a prior phase, use masks and social distancing until we can get it under control. Of course there are a few, very few that take the extremes on both sides.. shut everything down or open everything up. But they are very few.
To add to that, I haven't seen a single post from someone who said they are planning to go to WDW and not wear a mask. So maybe we can put to rest the ubiquitous posts telling people to stay home if they do not want to wear a mask.

Pausing is not pulling back, which I had said in my post. Things are moving ahead because they are not trying to control the numbers that aren’t working in that phase. You can spin it anyway you want but a pause just lets things continue as they are.

There were numerous posts in the various threads from people talking about walking around all day with a drink cup or a bucket of popcorn to beat the mask rules. Its easy to post stuff anonymously online but most or all of those people probably won’t even go to WDW and if they do won’t actually try it.

Edit: unless the people grilling hotdogs at Disney Springs post on here...there’s a few in every crowd ;)

I have seen many say a Starbucks in my hand and I don’t have to wear one but I get what you are saying.

Edit: Goof beat me to it again. 🙂

A great and sobering article. I know we all love and care about Disney on this forum, but this shows what an unbelievable national disaster we are in. All 50 states are in danger, and we all need to come together. There has to be a point where the politicized aspect goes away, right?? (I pray that it does)

So, as a foreigner.. I wonder: what's daily live like now in Florida? What are the actual precautions taken in shops/restaurants etc...? And do most people care?

We now have an 7 day average of less than 100 confirmed infections... we went in lockdown on march 14th... shops opened somewhere in may, restaurants and bars openend on june 15th... theme parks can open on july 1st. Small events (less than 200 people are possible from july 1st and less than 400 from august 1 st. No Big events yet. We can have a personal bubble of 10 people (15 from july) that we meet or invite. If we go the the supermarket (we had to go alone... untill next week). every person needs to get a shopping cart. they are desinfected when you enter the shop. A certain amount of people can enter at once. (determined by the number of carts).
There was talk of making wearing masks in shops obligatory...but that fell through.
Waiters in restaurants/bars wear masks. Most shops have signs and markers on the floor for social distancing... Most shop owners were masks in their shops.

Are any of such precautions also implemented in FLorida? Do people social distance in Walmart or other shops? (In some shops we even can't put stuff on the counter untill the previous customer has paid and left)

That’s funny! But the point is more on a local level. To defend FL (a little) Miami Dade, had almost double the new cases than Orange Cnty yesterday. That’s really the main issue with FL.
In defense of Miami Dade their population is also double Orange County, but urban areas are still the most likely place to see hot spots pop up due to population density.

I wasn't attempting to be funny, we are culture that often times feel entitled and righteous in all the wrong moments. It's going to be a struggle for people to comply with these restrictions.

Most idefinitely not accurate. During stay at home orders about 40% of the economy was shut down, but of the 60% that wasn’t a lot of people were still going to work. What was considered essential varied by state but a lot of people were still working outside the home. I don’t have a percentage on pure working from home but that’s mostly corporate jobs and teachers with a little healthcare sprinkled in.

I feel like that discussion was a long time ago... But time is really warped right now.
My suggestion to combat those offenders was to make all eating and drinking take place in designated areas only. It is pretty easy for Disney to pop up concessions anywhere - we see it every year at F&W. With lower crowd levels, more and more space can be used for tables and ACTUAL chairs (Can you imaging chairs in WDW? How great would that be?).
