I feel like that discussion was a long time ago... But time is really warped right now.
My suggestion to combat those offenders was to make all eating and drinking take place in designated areas only. It is pretty easy for Disney to pop up concessions anywhere - we see it every year at F&W. With lower crowd levels, more and more space can be used for tables and ACTUAL chairs (Can you imaging chairs in WDW? How great would that be?).
I remember talk a few weeks ago of having areas that were specifically for drinking or eating snacks. Grab a Mickey bar or Starbucks or bucket of popcorn and you would need to go to a designated spot to eat and drink. Not sure if it’s still in the plans but would be a good idea.

You can’t be serious. Ive heard some wild statements, but that takes the prize.

OF course I am serious.
I don't know you from Adam, so I don't know your story. I can tell you that my industry is flourishing in this environment.
To think that this trend (working remotely from the office) hasn't been coming and coming fast is simply naive.

It really hasn’t been an issue at DS so far. Some sporadic cases reported but not widespread. Like I said it’s easy to talk a big game anonymously online. Most people aren’t going to spend thousands to pull crap and get kicked out.

There were numerous posts in the various threads from people talking about walking around all day with a drink cup or a bucket of popcorn to beat the mask rules. Its easy to post stuff anonymously online but most or all of those people probably won’t even go to WDW and if they do won’t actually try it.

Edit: unless the people grilling hotdogs at Disney Springs post on here...there’s a few in every crowd ;)
If Disney allows it, I'm okay with it too. I don't believe there's much danger from people walking outside eating or drinking as long as they are maintaining the proper distance from others. I suspect Disney will be much more assertive when it comes to removing masks indoors.

banks are flush with cash and so is the stock market whIle the travel industry, restaurants and entertainment companies are still suffering massive losses. You know what that points to?

I think that points to the fact some industries are much more capable of operating with employees working from home.

Two things I will add.

1) Your paycheck is not worth one single human life. We need to go back to essential personnel only or at least back to Phase 1 of the reopening.

2) The world's addiction to alcohol will be our downfall. It is evident that there is a problem when people's first thought is to rush out to bars.

1. Its nice to have the means and ability to do so, but you're speaking from a point of privilege there. Your paycheck may not be worth a single life but your own means to do so might. Yours.

2. This is absurd. Your lack of consuming alcohol does not make you a better individual. And I'd argue that the alcohol is secondary in the need to "rush out to bars" It's a social setting that alot of people were lacking. Alot of people's mental health and well being, especially if they say live alone was not well. Just a piece of society in a setting that's social is a respite. And to many is worth the risk clearly. Get off your pedestal. Our downfall will be our lack of solid politicians and policies. Not as you said our "addiction" to alcohol.

Personal story. I am an introvert with OCD. I don’t go out in public much during flu season to avoid getting sick. It sucked but I never get sick. I had been told by literally everyone including therapists that this kind of anxiety is irrational and less safe than what I fear. It started a family rift when I didn’t want my sister to come over and spread her nasty cold. I relented to the pressure and the whole family got sick. I was treated like a complete idiot for being worried. One of the only treatments for OCD is exposure therapy. I had to go to public places and face the fear. It worked. Really well.

Then covid came along and I helplessly watched all of my progress slip away. Everyone who mocked me were now wiping their grocery food with Lysol wipes and avoiding all human contact. As we watch society lock down and break down, I started to realize that a stay home order is what OCD wants but I didn’t want it. I missed things. I missed people. I’ve always been anxious but never depressed. I’ve been depressed since the shut down. I became a relapsed mess. I can clearly see why people said my fear was irrational. It is. We can’t hide from this but we can make life safer than it was. Most places are doing that. I’m so impressed by Disney especially. Holy crap they thought of everything.

As of right now they are not allowing it. You can pull the mask down to eat or take a drink but have to replace it after taking a bite. You can’t walk around without a mask just holding a drink cup.

So, as a foreigner.. I wonder: what's daily live like now in Florida? What are the actual precautions taken in shops/restaurants etc...? And do most people care?

We now have an 7 day average of less than 100 confirmed infections... we went in lockdown on march 14th... shops opened somewhere in may, restaurants and bars openend on june 15th... theme parks can open on july 1st. Small events (less than 200 people are possible from july 1st and less than 400 from august 1 st. No Big events yet. We can have a personal bubble of 10 people (15 from july) that we meet or invite. If we go the the supermarket (we had to go alone... untill next week). every person needs to get a shopping cart. they are desinfected when you enter the shop. A certain amount of people can enter at once. (determined by the number of carts).
There was talk of making wearing masks in shops obligatory...but that fell through.
Waiters in restaurants/bars wear masks. Most shops have signs and markers on the floor for social distancing... Most shop owners were masks in their shops.

Are any of such precautions also implemented in FLorida? Do people social distance in Walmart or other shops? (In some shops we even can't put stuff on the counter untill the previous customer has paid and left)
I'll give you my take on what I've seen as an Orlando resident.

Restaurants- All employees wearing masks, distance markers typically in lobbies. Doors usually have some sort of warning regarding social distancing rules. Bar seating is now allowed but I'd say 75% of the chairs have been removed so it is spaced. Many tables are either unavailable or spaced out enough.
Retail Stores- Same signs on doors, checkout registers have plexiglass or some sort of barrier. Tape or markers on the ground if waiting to cash out. Masks technically required but I have yet to see any employee say anything to someone not wearing a mask. Disney Springs is the only area that I've had to wait to go into a store. I don't know if that's happening in other local areas but I haven't been around many other stores in general. I know for a time our grocery stores were limiting capacity.
Grocery- An employee is wiping down all cart handles. You do not have to take one. "One way" markers on the ground down the aisles, but people mess this up quite often (I'll admit I've caught myself a few times). For a while there was someone guiding people to a checkout number, almost like before boarding an attraction but last time I was there no one was helping which caused checkout lines to go back into the actual shopping aisles due to distancing.

There's still some people that will blatantly ignore masks and distancing but the parts I see are for the majority good. The problem areas are likely in the places that are less likely to enforce and practice restrictions and I've stayed clear of any bars and situations like that.
