It is absolutely basic epidemiology to prevent travel from contagion hot spots to prevent contagious diseases.

Yes it is.

It is disingenuous, however, to present the travel ban as if you're being invaded from people from those foreign nations or states, when it is most likely the case that it's your own people who travel to those hot spots and come back with the contagion.

Again never said this is how I felt in my post. So I'll assume you misunderstood what I was trying to get across. However if you think politics have zero play in any of this and never have?....well you haven't been paying attention, and that is sad.

Your claim that the virus is with us and you can't stop spikes is the battle cry of the tragically misinformed. You can stop spikes. You can eradicate a contagion. It's been done with this virus in certain nations. But you have to do difficult things like wear masks and spend money on contact tracing and testing.

Personal digs and insults aside from your line here, you again took out of context my post to fit your narrative. Tell the experts then how to stop the spikes. Which is basically the same thing I said in my other post so we are in agreement. I will quote the line so you don't need to waste ten seconds of your life searching for it: "I should of clarified that as COMPLETELY stop all spikes. I can think of a few reasons...for starters there are always people who will refuse to abide by the 'rules' (ex: not wearing a mask/social distance) there are even people despite all the warnings don't practice good hygeine. gross right? You also have irresponsible selfish people that go out in public being sick anyway. A number of different scenarios can cause a spike. Can spikes be maintained? Sure but I have my doubts they can all be completely stopped for good, and not anytime soon. We in this for the long haul."

I've not come across valid evidence that shows spikes stop dead anywhere. If I'm wrong or as you say tragic and misinformed, well guide me oh gracious one to the light and I shall seek the truth. There is so much conflicting info out there it's difficult at times to decipher what is fact and what is just fear mongering news. But i'm all mickey ears for your guidance.

If you don't to that, you're admitting you just don't want to do the difficult things to keep society safe.

Actually I stand by something even more difficult for most people to do, myself included on some days and that is to promote a healthy lifestyle and good eating habits. Healthy people have a better chance in fighting off a virus. Take care of yourself and the odds will be in your favor. I also for the record wear a mask, social distance, practice good hygeine and I make sure those close to me do the same. It's called self accountability which sadly in today's society many people lack.

And that's sad.

"The Coalition of Resort Labor Unions, which represents about 17,000 workers at Disney parks and resorts, has scheduled a protest for Saturday morning at Disneyland in Anaheim.

A hotel union, Unite Here Local 11, is co-hosting the “Disney Caravan for Safety” event with the CRLU. It is scheduled from 10AM to noon PT.

“We’re not yet satisfied that it’s safe to open Disneyland,” the CRLU said in a Facebook notice. “Join us and speak up for safety!”"

Is it only wanting to push the date back or do they also want additional safety measures? It seems like the openings will probably happen either way, but it may be an opportunity to ensure enough safety protocols are in place. Make sure they follow through on full masks and temp checks for all employees.

Dr. Raul Pino, state health officer for Orange County, said hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients is now at its highest level — 135 patients — since the pandemic began, topping the previous high of 98 patients reported in early April. He also said the recovery rate has fallen from 87% to 66%, citing data submitted to the state Agency For Health Care Administration.

I think it's more they are worried about guests following the rules and how they will be enforced.

Is that what the protest is over? There’s not really any details but why would they assume the rules wouldn’t be enforced? I get that it’s talked about here all the time from a cynical fan base, but what more can the company do? They setup the rules and the park isn’t open yet so how can you have a strike over lack of enforcement?

Why would anyone think that’s what it’s about? People may just be guessing based on their own fears of what may happen when the parks open.

I don’t know, that’s why I asked. Typically a union has a strike over working conditions if they want the employer to agree to some additional safety measures. In this case Disney has already agreed to the safety measures. After opening if the plan isn’t followed then I could see holding a strike to force the company to comply.

I don't know the terms or conditions of there contract with Disney but if it states" no strike no lockout" in their contract then the employees can not strike if they remain under contract

I am sure as soon as the 600 dollar weekly pay is not extended past the 31st of July they will probably reconsider their stance on this.

I read somewhere if the cast at WDW go on strike, they are automatically terminated from their jobs. Don't know about DLR.
