Florida is in the top ten of states with cases of Covid-19 as of this morning. If Florida thinks merely quarantining out of state travel will solve their problem they are mistaken. Covid-19 is in Florida in huge numbers with small hotspots all around the state and growing each day. On friday there were 500 ish cases in Florida it doubled in less then 4 days.

New York-20,875 Cases and 157 deaths
NewJersey-2,844 Cases and 27 deaths
California-2,240 Cases and 39 deaths
Washington-2,101 Cases and 109 deaths
Michigan-1,324 Cases and 16 deaths
Illinois-1,285 Cases and 12 deaths
Florida-1,222 Cases and 16 deaths
Louisiana-1,172 Cases and 34 deaths
Georgia-800 Cases and 25 deaths
Massachusetts-777 Cases and 5 deaths
Would probably make more sense to rank the states on deaths per 1,000,000 people in the state. Looking at cases where some states still don't test unless you're gasping for your last breath while others test as many as possible results in a stilted list. Which is why if you do a quick mortality rate by state you would think that New York is the place to be sick since they are under 1% right now and Georgia is over 3%... but I think it is more to do with how liberally they do testing in New York versus other states.

Also, because of the update know that all of Disney's parks are closed, but one Uni Park of the world is operating, and before people hate on that, it's in Singapore, arguably the cleanest and disciplined area of the world so I am not shocked. Disney should have looked into that rather than just the numbers only game of Hong Kong and Shanghai.

The big 3 consult with each other. I don’t know why Disney won’t just announce that they’ve made the same decision.

They may be working on decisions about compensation for employees before any announcement. Because if they don't announce how it affects employees, the Internet will explode over questions and accusations.

I know I said I wouldn't be posting anything during the pandemic, but I received some information about the severity of cuts coming for projects at WDW. I thought I'd make a brief post about that, although there are much more important issues in the world today. I likely won't be checking in often for conversation, but I may reply from time to time.

What's Likely to Be Completed:
  • Tron Coaster
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster
  • Cinderella Castle Retheme
  • Ratatouille
  • Space 220
What's Likely to Be Delayed:
  • Innoventions Demo
  • MFSR Update
  • Harmonious
What's Currenty Being Looked at for Abandonment:
  • Mary Poppins Expansion
  • Moana Expansion
  • Unannounced Journey Into Imagination Upgrade
  • Star Wars Hotel
  • Galaxy's Edge Expansions / Upgrades
  • Spaceship Earth Refurb
  • Wonders of Life Pavilion Retheme
  • Coco Attraction
  • Reflections Lakeside Lodge
  • Every other potential addition not listed here
Furthermore, Disney is currently working on a plan for what re-opening WDW looks like. Every week it is shut down, it becomes more difficult to reopen. In the best case scenario where WDW can be reopened in May, while still taking massive precautions during a global pandemic, this is the general outline:

Magic Kingdom reopens with 50% capacity. No parades, no fireworks, no indoor theaters, significant number of rides down.
Epcot not currently planned to reopen with the other parks.
DHS reopens with 40% capacity. No parades, no indoor theaters.
Animal Kingdom reopens with 50% capacity. No indoor theaters.
No plans to reopen Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon in the near term.
All ride vehicles would require mandatory wipe down once in station.
No character meets.
Distancing encouraged.
WDW will look a lot different moving forward. Don't roam, stay at home.

It varies by day who annoys me more. Some days it’s the incentive p****s who don’t quarantine and risk everything because “it only effects old people”. Some days it’s the drama queens saying the parks won’t open till July and the parks are shelving most projects.

People are stupid. I don’t care which side of the fence you’re on.

Universal Studios Singapore is also the last Universal park to not be owned or operated by Universal.

If they don’t do the same as universal there will be an uproar

That number can also still be very misleading. I understand in places like LA they don't even bother to test anymore and if you have the symptoms they just assume you have it, but if they don't do an actual test you still wouldn't show up in the official numbers.
I agree. Actual case count is very misleading. To get a better feel for how a state or country (assuming the country can actually test for Covid with some consistency) is death rate.

I think deaths is truly the most telling factor of this whole outbreak. There are many asymptomatic people who will never get tested and many don’t get tested as they do not meet testing requirements. However, deaths is something that cannot be ignored and governments are even testing post Mortem like in the Seattle nursing home. Deaths also give a feel for how long this has been brewing in an area as it takes a while for the death rate to rev up.

Deaths per capita is by far the most accurate, really only being skewed by a hot bed like a nursing home that can ramp up the number of deaths/million by sweeping through a high risk population by wildfire.

Just out of curiosity, are there any Disney employees that can work remotely?

Well now the entire working Disney Reservation Center CMs are are trusted to will have to, which is very small. They are the ones you call from 1800 res numbers.l or 407 wdw numbers. Texas, Tampa and Orlando locals.

How do they work remotely from home and they manage park operations ( currently closed) ?

Things still need to be managed.

Many are probably needing to prepare various plans for their department based on various budgets for example. I’m sure lots of online conference meetings are taking place.
