I really don’t see Americans willing to go along with the QR code and monitoring. I’m already hearing about churches and small businesses in my area hiring lawyers about the forced closures.

But.... I’m surprised we’ve gone this far with it.

Yeah, good luck filling your parks and resorts if you implement that here in the U.S.

How long till they come out with Disney themed N95 masks? I wouldn't be surprised if they incorporate RFID tech into them and call them MagicMasks... Far fetched?? Let's nail this copyright now!!

Get your mickey mask today before TDO starts selling them for $14.99. Not N95 but hey in 90 degree heat that wouldn't prevent getting it either.

Sure, of course - just giving you a reference as to where the time frame came from to the reply you quoted.
Thank you. I do appreciate that. Sincerely. It’s hard to live in Florida and see the reports of flattening and hospitalizations declining and not think it’s good news versus a chart that may or may not be accurate. Very confusing times.

You sure it was 10,000 cases a day they were expecting for the convention center? When they opened the Javits Center in NY it had room for 1,000 patients total. That would be quite a large temporary hospital. Might just be a case of some bad reporting.

The convention center is designed to house 1000 patients (same as NY, it sounds). The need was in expectation of 10,000 per day being diagnosed.

"The state is looking to obtain data on furloughed Cast Members directly from Disney and auto-enrolling them during times of reduced traffic and strain on the system in the overnight hours. By running the data directly during lower traffic hours, the state would effectively take the traffic from tens of thousands of Disney Cast Members out of peak hours when they might be applying themselves. DeSantis noted that the system is “crushed” right now, and a massive furlough by a company as large as Disney will introduce even more strain on the system.

DeSantis noted that the auto-enrollment applications wouldn’t receive any “special spot in line” and still be processed in the order they were received along with regular unemployment applications."

Yeah... that's a bit of interpretation of his wording on their part. But since the whole thing is kinda broad... I'll wait for the dust to settle after all the uproar settles down :)

I believe they are getting the information directly from the PDF the Governor put out -

It's sad that a massive furlough of 77K WDW cast members that will soon apply for unemployment to make DeSantis address the "crushed" Florida unemployment system. Tell that to the thousands of non Disney staff in the last two weeks standing in line in the FL heat in other cities waiting in line for hours. Sad and disgusting.

"Winn Dixie is showing gratitude to those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

The supermarket’s parent company, Southeastern Grocers covered grocery bills for thousands of health care professionals on Monday.

A representative for Southeastern Grocers said the act of kindness was inspired by filmmaker and actor, Tyler Perry, who recently surprised Winn Dixie customers in Louisiana by paying for their groceries during senior and high-risk shopping hour."

The money should be going to the companies to maintain their payroll instead of individuals through unemployment. Rather than the state individually processing, vetting, and paying 70k individuals it could be done as a single transaction with the employer and save tens of millions of dollars while protecting jobs and citizens.

That makes wayyyyyyy too much sense. This way there will be more work involved for both the state and Disney

In an ideal world, you would think so. The fact that its didn't happen that way may suggest that lawmakers had doubts whether all employers would do the honorable thing and pay their employees rather than use the money to cover other overheads, including management pay.

I think accountability would certainly be a concern. But I feel it’s easily mitigated. Under this proposal employers would be barred from laying off or furloughing any employees until after the event. If any individual was let go or was not being paid they could raise that concern to the appropriate Governmental channels. I feel pretty strongly that employers would have largely followed the rules and used the money correctly. I think the fact that it didn’t happen is because our lawmakers are largely stupid and incompetent and concerned primarily with their own self interests.

Those face masks get awfully soggy on contact with water...
Water resistant!

Plus what do we do at restaurants? Reusable cutlery? Masks with an opening for food?

Precautions will need to be put in place but we cannot end life as we know it either. Will be very interesting to see what they put in place when parks do eventually reopen.

Maybe they will start to manufacture their own Disney masks...

I don't know enough about your bankruptcy laws, but in many countries, workers are at the back of the queue for payment if a firm has to close. Other creditors get paid first from any resources the company has, including cash in accounts. It may be that the law does not provide sufficient protection to ensure that any monies paid to a company by the government to cover wages will actually go, in its entirety to the workers, but may instead get tied up in bankruptcy claims from third parties..
