It is confusing how heavily traveled tourist areas are not seeing the high cases. I’m in Osceola and orange is also shut down. But you’d think hundreds if not thousands of cast members would be sick in these counties. As you say, with people from all over the world Disney should have been the first hot spot in Florida. I still believe many here have already had it in late January and February, cast members included.
I wouldn’t doubt it. My husband came home about 3 weeks ago with a slight fever and a cough. Fever lasted about 18 hours and he was fine after that. Kids got stuffy noses my throat was irritated. Was it covid19? Maybe maybe not... that’s why the titers would prove useful.

I hope you’ve read the full post by now. Also, and I need to stress this again- Floridians are not freely moving around doing whatever they want to do. Plenty of cities and counties have prevented that from happening. So many beaches are closed, parks closed, Miami has the most strict curfews right now from what I know, but the surrounding areas either have curfews or are not allowing visitors at all.. and all are following the bar/restaurant closures.

They aren't?

Nope. They all aren’t. St. John’s County is not all of Florida. Take a drive down to the 18 Mile Stretch and let me know if you get access. Or, be out in Miami at midnight... Or, go to any of the several closed beaches.

I’m confused at the posters on here who are laughing about this virus. Am I missing something that’s funny about this?
You think I’m taking this as a joke who‘s had someone at work test positive for it who sat next to me a few weeks ago and in the middle of the busiest time at work and can’t miss a day at work this time of year and has had 7 people at a retirement home in the same town I work in pass away from this virus and I have trip out west in three weeks from now. No not funny to me.

That part I don’t know… I know that unemployment caps out at $275 a week for 12 weeks in Florida. But I don’t know what the lowest hourly rate is… I think somewhere around $10-$12 an hour? But that is just me basing it off of what I knew from a couple years ago. I don’t think it’s gone up to $15 here yet

As a potential spreader of this disease -- known positive contact, failing to isolate (ie. continuing to go into the workplace), living in a potential out-break area with known deaths, why would you even consider travelling?

I honestly think that they will be opening sooner than expected. I am hoping that they will open around May 1-11. I don’t really know, that is just my guess. I would be very surprised if they aren’t open in some shape or form by Memorial Day. I also think that they will open at the beginning of the week (Monday or Tuesday) they will surely stay closed on May 4, because there would be crowds because it is the first May 4th in Galaxy’s Edge. But one thing is certain, we will get through this, it is temporary, it will pass. Disney will reopen and life will go on as usual. I don’t know how soon this will happen, but I guarantee you all that it will. (In my opinion, Disney can’t stay closed until July or August, that expectation is just not realistic. Honestly if things are not starting to improve by August, we will all have bigger issues than going on vacation) Again, I try to think of this situation more optimistically than
others. This is all my opinion, I know nothing more than any other person here. I am just trying to help😀. When we see that Disney is refilling the water rides, we know that they are opening within a week of that date.

I’m the only person allowed in my space at work as an essential employee where I work and guidelines have been set forth by the higher ups.
If I don‘t have it after a month of a known exposure, I assume I’m OK. (Granted if I’m in the public getting groceries there’s still gonna be potential exposure)
Priceline makes it difficult (basically impossible) to get a refund for hotels booked through them...even in this crisis. It was a mistake on my part to do so, but the thought didn’t cross my mind making the reservations months ago. If it comes to it a few weeks from now that I definitely should cancel, I’ll take the financial hit.

I would like to be optimistic like you...but I don’t see that happening the CDC guideline lasts till Mid May.

You are assuming that you are the only one at risk and that you are not passing it on to others. You could be asymptomatic but still pass the virus on to others. That is why your company should have insisted that you self-isolate for a period when the person working next to you was diagnosed.

The CDC guidelines go until mid-May and Florida is not expected to see its peak of the outbreak for several weeks to come. This isn't Disney's timeline this is the virus' timeline.

Disney is offering free dining for anyone whose trip was cancelled due to the closure. Travel must be between June 1 - Sept 30. Can only be booked by calling or through your travel agent.
