And others just said that people don't obey the quarantines, another showed an example of friends not obeying the lockdown in place, and another was basically suggesting martial law.
Quarantines, lockdown, martial law to control the spread. Every option besides those on the table. The argument of rural area versus urban areas. COVID19 knows no borders. It's not a media line it's a proven FACT. When our country reacts at times is when the body count increases unfortunately. New York and New Jersey on potential statewide quarantine any day now. Lots to digest and some people still don't get it.

How do you explain Monroe County, Florida?
I just posted about it.. anyone care to address? I’m genuinely curious. Could it be that the virus has just not yet become full fledged in affected people, so they don’t know, and will face a crisis in a week or two?

Quarantine in the Keys can isolate this if there is no infection. If someone down there has it - and they don't quarantine amongst themselves.....well, then the entire population of the Keys may get it. It's like Eastwood asks...."are you feeling lucky?"

It is confusing how heavily traveled tourist areas are not seeing the high cases. I’m in Osceola and orange is also shut down. But you’d think hundreds if not thousands of cast members would be sick in these counties. As you say, with people from all over the world Disney should have been the first hot spot in Florida. I still believe many here have already had it in late January and February, cast members included.

Exactly. There are so many unanswered questions, and unfortunately we don’t have the data to know the answers. This is why the blanket statements from the social media insta-infectious disease experts are just not adding up to what we’re actually seeing. Will it get worse, could it get worse? Yes, I absolutely believe it will, but we’re not seeing what we “should” be seeing in certain areas... especially the ones mentioned. Those should be in an epidemic by now based on what we think we know.

RE: NY Quarantine that Trump suggested (as well as the tri-state area).

Cuoma said in his press conference -
'I don’t know what it means … I don’t know how it will be enforceable. I don’t like the sound of it,' Cuomo said.

And that's the reality of it.

I would tread VERY lightly on wanting nationwide martial law enacted.

I think that's a road you really don't want to go down.

No, you misunderstood. The tourists have been there, in droves, prior to the lockdown last week. So what I’m asking is- Why haven't they seen a major outbreak or peak yet?

I hope Trump does it. The whole point of staying home is trying to contain certain areas If people from New York go roaming around to other states they’re contaminating other areas. DeSantus is making people from NY, NJ and CT quarantine for 14 days when they fly in. Fortunately there are less flights now coming from those states. This won’t work if people don’t listen to their local and state officials.

Maybe a cheeseburger in paradise is the vaccine? Seriously though....it just a matter of time..

It very well could be a matter of times before they see a major devastating outbreak., but my point is- with the amount of tourists who were there (this is one of their busiest times of year), and if the virus was as widespread as people say,.. and if all of the graphs and models are correct, then they should have seen a major outbreak by now.

They haven’t seen it yet, no one knows why, and we may never know.. but I hope it shows people that no one knows everything regarding the spread. Leave the models alone for a second and look around.

Total cases for Monroe county (Keys) is 18 with 4 in hospital. Too late.

Edit:
Make it 19 per;

So should have Disney. Point being....how many people got home and the spread was attributable to their home town vs where they went on vacation to?

And no one thought of tourists arriving in FL via I-95 South ?

I think what it means would be not allowing people out of those states into other states (like FL and SC) where the governor's are complaining of infected people fleeing.

How it would be enforceable I'm not sure. For air travel, the federal government could shut down all the airports in those states. I'm not sure of the legalities of restricting vehicular or pedestrian travel. The federal government can regulate interstate commerce but I don't know how that applies to a citizen driving to another state. Can the border states refuse entry if given the authority by a Presidential executive order? I have no idea.

I'm guessing that most of the people coming to Florida from NY are by air but to stop that, you'd have to stop air travel in surrounding states also that are within a 2 or 3 hour drive..

Having driven from PA to FL half a dozen times I can confirm that a large number of cars on 95 South heading to Florida are from NY and NJ. It’s a one day drive.

Luck that none of the seed cases went to the keys? Outdoor activities where spread probably doesn't happen unless you are really close to people or hugging/kissing or sharing drinking glasses/bottles? Maybe bars/restaurants with open doors and windows (it's been so long since I've been around the keys that I can't remember what the bars/restaurants do when the weather is nice) providing enough airflow that the virus gets disbursed?

As for the lack of CMs getting it, part could be the same luck of seed cases just not being at the parks. Also, CMs don't really spend much time in close proximity to the same person in most cases. Maybe CMs are grossed out by the stuff they see and wash their hands a lot normally?

Yes. Yes we do. Truckers > Software Developers right now.
I have a friend who works for a company that does long haul shipping. They had all kinds of logistical issues with states on lock down. They closed the rest areas on the highways and fast food went to drive thru only. It’s hard to drive for hours on end with no bathrooms to use. Some places had to re-open limited rest areas. People forget how much we depend on trucks to deliver everything we need.
